  1. Hulu for example blocks the PS3. Other streaming video sites have talked about it as well. And given how java intensive the MLB site is you might have problems since Sony doesn't do updates as quickly as PC browsers would. Now you could find an old PS3 and load linux on it if you feel so inclined and that would eliminate all those issues but its still rather clunky.
  2. It would be LaRussa sticking it to MLB for making him stop juicing his players.
  3. Holliday is a much, much better player than Bay. Bay's WAR for the past 4 years: 5.5, 0.0, 2.9, 3.5. Holliday's WAR: 4.4, 8.0, 6.3, 5.7. Bay is an above average player, Holliday is Ryan Braun with good defense.
  4. One thing to keep in mind is that if the Cards didn't sign Holliday Pujols might have told them don't expect him to come back
  5. Dawson is more in line with the Hall of Not Very Good Players. A .323 OBP....
  6. Yeah, this deal seem like overpaying. By that I mean you would have gotten a similar deal waiting a year and would have a better clue about his true talent going forward. His projected arby total for this year is likely $2m not $4m. Defense only tends to matter at SS for arbitration and only somewhat.
  7. Yes he was horrible, terrible and not very good. He was below replacement level. If we didn't have Suppan we might now have a better clue about Narveson.
  8. The Yankees can get old real quick. Not only are Arod, Jeter, Petite and Posada on the wrong side of 30, they're on the wrong side of 35.
  9. If the reports from when the Rangers looked at Lowell are to be believed Lowell might not be able to physically play this year.
  10. I'm not sure how anyone can still be behind Moore after the Jacobs trade. Jacobs was about to be non-tendered and Moore gave up actual talent in order to have the right to pay Jacobs 7 figures.
  11. If you're on the PC make sure you patch the game since the cunning bonus was carrying over correctly. Then keep on piling on points to dex and cunning. You do however want a strength of 20 for the best rogue armor. And you'll want to push up willpower a bit for talent uses. I took all the rogue combat talents except feign death, never had a need as DW rogue. Maxxed out lock picking. As for DW talents, keep in midn you'll be back stabbing so ignore branches that keep you from making critical hits.
  12. Where does Cameron having a low OBP come from? No he isn't Fielder or Braun even but .342 is fine. Gomez might break .300.
  13. Cameron was using his Slate voice trying to sound smart while saying nothing. He was basically saying you shouldn't say "The Brewers won 80 games last year and therefore are an 80 win team and let's look at what they've done" which no one serious does. His whole point is that players will regress to the mean which people fully understand. The issue that the Brewers have to contend with is that they got a lot of performances that are hard to predict being repeated.
  14. The Sox don't have room with Cameron already signed
  15. This looks to be a millstone contract.
  16. Derosa's WARs for the past three seasons: 1.7, 3.8, 2.6 Teahen's WARs: 0.2, -0.1, 2.1 Wigginton's WARs: -0.3, 3.1, 1.3
  17. 2B and 3B are this years bumper crop of FAs like pitchers and all bat/no glove types were last year. You had a pool with Lopez, DeRosa, Figgins, Hudson, Beltre, Crede, Glaus, Feliz, and later Kelly Johnson. Just way too many players for few openings.
  18. Again Hughes pitched just over 100 innings last year. Its really hard to see the Yankees giving him a full time slot given that. Joba on the other hand pitched 157. both are really good, I like Hughes more but Chamberlain's slight struggles starting last year tends to make people underrate him
  19. People have a hard time dealing with the fact that much in life is random and outside of an individual's control. Baseball isn't any different.
  20. There is a difference between "luck" and a bunch of variables that are unobserved or too small individually to matter. For example we know lighting has a large effect and isn't really "luck" as in the sun sets at a given time. However it is beyond the pitcher's control.
  21. Pettite might retire next year. Vasquez is only signed for one year. The Yankees still need starters past this season. Add to that Hughes had a 1.40 ERA in relief with 65 Ks in 51 innings. He's a better pitcher than Chamberlain and has been better in relief. Chamberlain also has one more full year of service tiime used.
  22. Hughes isn't going anywhere. Chamberlain is likely more avaiable and Gaudin can likely be had for a song now. He's the real guy to target. The only way the Brewers get Hughes is if Fielder wears pinstripes.
  23. Hughes, Gaudin and Joba, one should be moved you'd think. Given Hughes was lights out in the pen, he would seem to be the least likely.
  24. No Morrow's floor is Seth McClung, assuming Morrow stays healthy that is.
  25. I half wonder if the Braves felt forced to trade Vasquez they were going to make sure it was out of the NL.
