  1. I don't get what the Braves are doing. Either go for it or don't, don't make trades that might pan out in 4 years while having the rest of the team in or past their prime.
  2. Or he is just leery from his time with the Brewers of talented but oft injured arms.
  3. The Forrest Gregg hire was much worse than the Starr hire. Ahh the Gregg years! When .500 was the ultimate goal!
  4. And this is based on what? The Cubs making him the fall guy instead of dealing with the atrocious play of Soriano? Chicago sports talk following Pinella's lead made Bradley the reason for the Cubs' problems two weeks into the season.
  5. Those years were when Silva was like 30 pounds lighter.
  6. The Cubs are likely happy to get anything of even a little value for Bradley.
  7. And neither can Supppan. He's 160 innings of 5.25 ERA.
  8. No reason for more than one year. They still control his rights. If he gets well they can just move him to the 40 man in the offseason.
  9. If Melvin had buyer's remorse he shouldn't be a GM
  10. Because Quentin has turned into a terrible defensive player no way should Pierre be a DH.
  11. Branden Morrow 2009 K/9 8.14 BB/9 5.68 K/BB 1.43 HR/9 1.29 Seth McClung 2005 K/9 7.57 BB/9 5.10 K/BB 1.48 HR/9 1.65 Morrow is far from a sure thing.
  12. Keep in mind that Hart + Hawkings=Cameron.
  13. Cameron late and close .239/.386/.358. # of Cameron HRs when greater than 4 run difference 2, within 1 run 8 tie game 3.
  14. His K/bb ration in March/April .9, May 1.38, June 1.43. No he wasn't pitcing well and then got hurt. He had a lucky BABIP of .205 in May driving his ERA down. As he got less lucky his ERA came back up.
  15. Its 4 years plus an 1-2 additional years (2010,2011,2012,2013)
  16. Lowell right now. Varitek last year.
  17. Why keep him around? He's not suddenly going to become a different pitcher. He has a 4.77 ERA as a reliever and a K/BB ration of 1.12. An OBP against of .365. That's bad.
  18. God this is so foolish on Philly's part. Add Hallady? Sure. But replace Lee with Halladay? Why?
  19. McClung can't blow a fastball by anybody because he has no control. He stunk last year after basically being replacement level reliever the year before. His K/BB rate 1.03! His HR/9 was 1.60. He hasn't ever been good outside of 12 innings for Milwaukee in 2007.
  20. Catalanotto as a PHer: .205/.295/.308. So no he didn't fill that role well at all.
  21. Gerut can play defense, Cat can't. In a market awash with LH bench bats (Cust, Hinske, Gomes) it makes little sense to bring him back.
  22. He didn't play well at all. A .278/.346/.382 line stinks for a OFer. He was replacement level for a second straight year. Mix in bad defense and he's done.
  23. Except as told before you'd be wrong. Tommy John's FIP was good due to him not giving up home runs. Olsen at best is a 5th starter. He had one good year.
  24. The Yankees aren't stupid and they have money. Meaning they didn't think Wang was worth the ~$5m risk to them. I'd be very cautious on signing Wang.
  25. Wang may never pitch effectively again. And even if he does it still maybe a year removed.
