  1. But how is he to know that? After all his OBP looks just like his BA
  2. This is just an awful trade for the Royals. It's Sal Bando like
  3. Salome is a big time power threat at catcher while the Pirates want Sanchez gone for nothing. In no way does a salary dump of an average 2B get a top prospect. Salome is starting to adjust to AAA pitching, over the last month his line is 0.338/0.380/0.595.
  4. Sanchez Zips' for the rest of the season: .296/.336/.421. The Brewers can match that internally rather easily (Heether for example). The Brewers need something more than just average to good to make a real dent over half of a season when it comes to putting in position players except at catcher and nothing going to change there.
  5. No I read it. Lucroy doesn't change anything. Wells has the worst contract in the major leagues right now. The Jays could package Halladay and Wells and still have to throw in money for a team to take it without giving up anything in return.
  6. Of course Hart's been good since his terrible May (.278/.363/.481 over the last month) so who knows whats going on there
  7. The Yankees and Sox have more pitchers than they can put on their teams right now. The chance either of them gets into a bidding war for Hallday is slim. The Yankees are in a holding pattern due to injury issues and the Sox hope to move at least one pitcher.
  8. If the Brewers get Halladay they can't trade Parra. They won't have the money next year to fill in the spot in the rotation after they let Looper go. Escobar would definitely be included and hopefully one of Salome or LuCroy instead of Lawrie. I think unlike Gamel or Escobar, Lawrie will be special while Gamel and Escobar will be solid but not amazing.
  9. Salome is way overpaying for a guy the Pirates want to dump at the end of the year for nothing. Iribarren alone should be enough.
  10. So the Yankees give up one good cheap player and a decent pitching prospect for Well's insane contract? They aren't fools.
  11. The pitching hasn't changed that much, just their luck. Back in mid May I wan't alone talking about how the Brewers pitching was more luck and defense than skill. The luck's dried up.
  12. Given that neither the Yankees or the Sox (his #3 and #4 favorites) really are that interested in Halladay I'd take his opinions with a large grain of salt.
  13. Yes they are legit prospects but they are not likely to be perennial All Star type talent. As for Toronto if the Brewers take on more salary a Rios/Hart swap could be part of it.
  14. This was a terrible year to trade Fielder. The FA class had more all hit no field players than you could list.
  15. Hart is walking a ton more this season, even when he wasn't hitting for average or power.
  16. Yep that isn't DFA'd, its was what happened to Bush last year. And he was very good. He never recovered from his injury.
  17. It was Melvin, but the difference was that was in the last year. There is still a chance you can move Hall this offseason for another crappy contract (think highly overpaid pitcher with 1 year remaining like Robertson) than he will still be around until thats exhausted
  18. But even if they fall off Lopez isn't that much better. His career line is .266/.333/.396. Heether's MLEs are .270/.359/.434.
  19. Lopez is just a guy. He's a mid 750 OPS at best 2B with average defense. That isn't an upgrade. I don't see the attraction.
  20. Braun has now spouted off, what four times this season (once previously about poor play, about the scouting, about the Miller Park shadows, and now this)? Pretty sure Melvin was trying to shut him down from making this a monthly Braun eruption.
  21. The Braves have more pitching than they can use so they can easily replace Vazquez in the rotation and get better players in the field. The big issue again is that Vazquez has shown to be super durable so that its less replacing him but replacing all of his 200-220 innings. The next issue is do the Braves want some one for this year or someone for next.
  22. Vazquez is a very good player easily worth his salary and a much better pitcher than Suppan. You can't compare ERAs, the defenses are just too different. Vazquez's FIPs for 2006-2009: 3.86, 3.80, 3.74, 2.95. Suppan's: 4.70, 4.42, 5.51, 5.22. And Vazquez is an actual 200+ inning pitcher, the last time he was below 200 innings was 2004 when he was at 198. The Brewers can easily afford Vazquez next year by letting go of Looper and Kendall.
  23. No Melvin basically could have offered a $2.5m contract to Branyan and he would have signed. The Brewers didn't want him back blocking Gamel and so he was basically handed to Seattle. That said he isn't going to likely ever play 3B again except in an emergency situation.
  24. You do realize that with absolutely nothing to play for Yost benched Hardy during his rookie season right?
