  1. But they aren't overpaying by $6m, its closer to $10m because the Orioles should be paying less because they are taking on the long term risk. Obviously barring some catastrophic injury this likely won't hurt the Orioles that much, but its still not a great contract considering the market.
  2. Yes, but in general, the Olympics don't find it neccesary to distribute players from countries with better atheletes to lesser talented countries in the name of competitive equality. Actually thats pretty much how the olympics do work. There is a reason why the entire US table tennis team is of Chinese origin.
  3. Seems way high for a guy who has yet to get to arby. Doesn't seem like Baltimore is getting any break by taking on the risk they are.
  4. But DeRosa is loads better than Miles. Thats the point. They needed Bradley just to equal out Edmonds but they moved DeRosa to do so worsening the team.
  5. No I understand the pint, its just that there aren't really any better options anyway so there's little harm right now. Now if Kendall's defense collapses like it did in his year before Milwaukee it could be a problem. As long was we see Kendall hitting 8th or 9th its fine.
  6. Perez's career FIP is 4.67 and was at 4.68 last season. CHONE has him at a 4.72 ERA with 4.97 FIP. So I'm saying its not him.
  7. But he isn't replacing Pie, he's replacing Edmonds. Edmonds as a Cub: .256/.369/.568 in 295 PAs.
  8. Colon has already signed with the Sox.
  9. Actually it doesn't seem like they have the money anymore either. Didn't signing Bradley basically eat up what they cleared with Marquis and DeRosa?
  10. Bradlwey is replacing what they got out of Edmonds and DeRosa. That's a wash (yes Edmonds was not going to repeat what he did). Miles isn't good, Gregg isn't as good as Wood.
  11. Sheets could sign a one year deal for $12m any time, he wants multiple years so not sure why not taking arby is this huge problem. Cruz's problem is no one want to give up a pick for a good but not great reliever.
  12. Except Lou seems to hate Pie so even if the Cubs kept him he wouldn't have played anyway.
  13. Sheets signing with the Mets could easily destroy the Brewers playoff chances, more than anything the Brewers do or don't do this offseason.
  14. Ask the Angels how Dallas MacPherson and Kendy Morales are working out...
  15. Keeo in mmidn this was with a stop watch and was hardly well measured. That said Hardy was always considered extremely athletic just behind Hart.
  16. Saying that because Inman isn't in the Padres top 10 makes it a good trade is like trading your AIG stock in 2005 for a stick of gum was a good move because today the stock is worthless.
  17. Thing is the Brewer don't need "Sheets" they just could use a good pitcher and Sheets looks to be the best value and most realistic option like he has been from the start. The Brewers are at like 82 wins or so and so each marginal win is huge. And they are going into the season with two (2!) replacement level pitchers in the rotation. (Ok, Suppan might be 1/2 a win above replacement if all breaks right. But he was replacement last year and has been below average every year save 2003 and 2007). In addition there is no real depth now that Melvin has basically said DiFelice is bullpen only at he big league level.
  18. Because Escobar profiles so poorly with the bat (CHONE projection for next season .270/.303/.356) that you can find a replacement level 3B and be better off. Just not enough balls hit that way.
  19. And by a lot you mean some. Mark A is not Bud, he has yet to lose any money year to year with the Brewers.
  20. Fielder is way too high. If he gets more than $7m it will be surprising. He isn't Miquel Cabrerra or Ryan Howard

  25. Really the only team that Young makes some sense for is the Angels and then you have the division thing
