  1. Sure, but that's a far cry from saying he should be moved to CF
  2. I think people must be watching a different game than I am. Braun is asked to cover relatively very little ground in LF with Cameron cheating over and he still takes weird routes on balls.
  3. No Linecum deserves it, Webb is likely to win it.
  4. Brantley has an ISO of .086--that's just isn't going to cut it. He can develop power, but next year you'd have Juan Pierre at best. Cain might finally be coming on but a BABIP of .370 in AA flashes large warning lights. As to Kapler-he's decent because he can play CF, but as his BABIP falls, ie he stops being lucky, he'll return to what he was in Boston
  5. No $10m is not a lot to pay for a .244/.333/.506 hitter that plays great CF. The Mets are paying $18.5 m for that kind of production.
  6. VORP for the NL: Linecum: 53.7 Santana: 49.0 Webb: 48.4 Haren: 46.1 Dempster: 44.5 (Not ant Ace)Sheets: 42.7 Hamles:42.0 Billingsley: 41.8 Peavy: 41.2 Volquez: 39.2 Cain: 38.8 Zambrano:38.2 Hudson: 36.8 Malholm:36.0 Cook:32.6 Jurrjens:32.5 Moyer: 32.1 Sabathia: 30.2 Right now Sabathia has only pitched 73 innings in the NL. He's like a closer right now. If he continues pitching lights out he haa a chance but as this shows he has a lot of climbing to do.
  7. I can't let this go, Cameron could easily end up being like 5 runs above replacement when factoring in defense in a shortened season. He's clearly worth more than $10 million. Right now I see no way the Brewers don't pick up the option even if just to trade him (though he has some no trade protection). I think alot depends if the Brewers see Brantley as a starting CFer in the future, in which case Cameron for 1 year is a great thing.
  8. Russ, it wasn't the catcher, it was the 2B who took the relay and just threw to 3B without even looking home--so middle infielders know this.
  9. The problem with Suppan is that as logn as he's witht eh Brewers he'll be starting even though like right now he's likely the 6th or 7th best starting option behind Villaneuva and about even with McClung. But as long as he's making more than any other player on the team he isn't going to be a long relief man.
  10. I'd trade Suppan for a bag that could hold doughnuts
  11. Try contacting the swimming coach at Arrowhead high school
  12. In the vent thread it was determined that Sveum signaled Hardy to 3B, so its Sveum all the time.
  13. And the Giants would laugh at you. I also like how everyone knows we need to get on base more and do better against right handed pitchers but then wants to trade the Brewers most patient left handed hitter.
  14. And who is that player? Loretta has been an undervalued hitter for his career. Take a look at the upcoming 2B free agents. You have Hudson and then nothing. 3 really old guys in Grudz, Kent and Durham. Then you have a 32 year old Ellis who would be better in the field but whose offense is likely to regress even further. Then you have the Felipe Lopez's and Nick Punto's of the world.
  15. If you ignore defense sure... Loretta could at least always turn 2... If you ignore that Loretta is 37. I'm fine for improving but it has to be an improvement not just a guy. Hudson would be an improvement. Loretta or Grudz would just be a different guy with no upside.
  16. A Mark Loretta type? Mark Loretta: .271/.344/.385 Rickie Weeks: .229/.335/.380 Weeks is a Mark Loretta type.
  17. Since Bush is clearly the 3rd best pitcher on the staff for next season not sure why he is in a mad scramble.
  18. I wouldn't be surprised if Hardy demanded a trade if the Brewers tried moving him to 2B. And players in general don't move in their prime Escobar is benefiting greatly from a BABIP of .389. That'll fall greatly and he could use another year to surpass Craig Counsell power levels.
  19. Its a joke, like the US News and World Report one is. But US News makes huge moeny and colleges have to respond to their joke rankings. The funny thing is, I've taught Intro Econ at different places and by far the hardest course for it is at WCTC.
  20. So did Oswalt lose his "feel" for the game this year? Did Mussina last year? The fact that Sheets' FIP is a full run below Zambrano's not count because Zambrano shows how he "feels" by throwing the occasional temper tantrum? Sheets' FIP this season: 3.19 Sabathia's FIP this season: 3.07
  21. But are the characters that interesting divorced from the superhero archetypes they represent?
  22. The only remaining question was if that was Hardy's or Sveum's fault-something we'll never find out.
  23. Capuano is the one coming of TJ again and likely won't be ready until July at the earliest (assuming the Brewers resign him). The big thing is for all the talk of Sheets' injuries, counting on Manny Parra who has had numerous injuries is even more scary since they are pitching related and he'll be coming off what (hopefully) is his first full season at any level.
  24. I really have no clue who the dump Sheets crowd think theu can get that won't cost 2/3 as much at least and provide half the output. As to the offense, it doesn't help that Braun was being replaced by Kapler, who is still the 750 OPS guy he always has been and Counsell is again at 3B.
  25. Love how Rock knew Durham though tthat ball that was high all night was a strike in his mind
