  1. Punting down 10 from the GB 40. Nagy gonna Nagy.
  2. Hey the Vikings had a game winning kick yesterday. Yes it was against Detroit but it still counts right?
  3. If the Packer lose this game, hard to blame the defense. Given the state of the defense, that they already got 6 stops is really good. If you told me that the defense would get 6 stops for this game I would think the Packers would have won easily.
  4. Texans missed another, the Jets missed one , the Jags missed one and the Saints missed one
  5. Well if MLB wanted to a way make the one game Wild Card game even more random and potentially unfair, they found it!. Joe West is behind the plate for the NL Wild Card. https://www.espn.com/mlb/story/_/id/32338710/record-breaking-umpire-joe-west-retire-postseason
  6. It helps that the NFC Central allows the season to be one long practice session.
  7. Really thought after his monster playoff game in a loss after a really bad season last year he would go out as high as he could. I guess that convinced Pittsburgh they could nurse him to the playoffs one more time and then see if he could be a good for a handful of games.
  8. I mean yes Ben has been throwing 2 yd outs on 4th and 4 so 9 yds is bad but the GB secondary is now a mess and you're down 17 Surrender Index found it really bad, decision bot was fine with it but again the GB secondary is a mess right now
  9. Don't even need to go back 20 years. Rick Porcello won in 2016 with a 22-4 record & 4.7 WAR season, while Verlander & his 7.4 WAR (but only a 16-9 record) had to settle for 2nd place. If you really want to note the big change, note how despite having lead the NL most of the season in wins, Kyle Hendricks was never seriously considered a candidate.
  10. In order to hand out that kind of suspension, they better be damn sure the guy was 100% throwing at someone. I don't think they can ever know this for certain outside an admittance by the pitcher... You want this to end, you punish the team. MLBPA won't allow huge suspensions for players but MLB can ban managers for multiple games instead of the 1 game slap they normally get. Make it 10 days with zero contact with the team. Start taking away draft picks for repeat offenders. This would be solved tomorrow.
  11. If thw Packers kick a FG, kickoff and the 49ers drive 45 yards like they did after the 4th down, they kick a filed goal and nothing has changed in terms of the game but some people's fantasy plays end up different.
  12. Hader has been a monster. And his FIP is above Burnes.
  13. why? the season series between the two clubs is currently tied at 7 with 5 games left to play, and the Brewers are currently 9.5 games better than the Cards in the standings? I get the frustration losing a couple games recently - but some people just can't help finding a ledge to jump off no matter what... Right. I'm as frustrated as anyone that the Brewers haven't been able to put things thing to bed yet, but it will happen, likely soon. And hopefully those who are afraid of something terrible happening will be able to look back and see that they were making much ado about nothing. Right now my frustration level is about a 7 or 8/10. But my fear level is a 0/10. My Dad's birthday is coming up with the family getting together Saturday and I want to buy a NL Central Champion T-shirt for him. That is my current frustration.
  14. Ray had a wrc+ of 117 in AAA. Not great but something I would rather see than JBJ right now.
  15. The Braves are a good team. The Phillies have a negative run differential. The Phillies are a sub .500 team getting lucky.
  16. [sarcasm]Wait a minute, you’re allowed to do that when a team is in your territory with only seconds left in the half? I thought you could only go cover 1 in that scenario? Someone get the rules committee on this, stat.[/sarcasm] Hey I saw Dallas, Toledo and FSU follow this rule!
  17. Was just looking through FanGraphs positional splits earlier. Catchers are currently 5th in wRC+ (111) & tied with SF for 1st in WAR (5.0). 2B have also fared well with a 121 wRC+ (4th) & 4.2 WAR (2nd). Molina 0.9 WAR Pina 1.1 WAR. Ergo Manny is a $10M catcher
  18. DeGrom has been better in every category with 50 fewer innings pitched. Innings definitely matter. Burnes is more deserving that DeGrom imo. If DeGrom came back in late August and maintained a sub 1.50 ERA he would win even if he finished with 125 innings.
  19. I never really got the Buehler case for Cy Young. It seems to be he lead the ERA race when DeGrom got injured so he's the guy (Burnes didn't qualify at that point so didn't even show up on leader boards). He no longer has the ERA lead, so what is it now? Lowest ERA by a guy who pitches more than 200 innings (assuming he does)? Wheeler is what people think Buehler has been but he has been ignored until his ERA started trending to his FIP. Buehler will likely clear 15 wins but Urias may hit 20 (I really was hoping Hendrickson would get the win title this year to fully kill it, but alas). I'm just not sure what the case is except inertia.
  20. The Reds are an 85 win team playing like an 85 win team. They have a shot due to the Padres getting injured and the weak remaining schedule (same reason Phillies still have a shot at the east with a negative run differential). Teams that have collapsed recently are the As (whose collapse no one is talking about, 62% to 10% in less than a month), and the Yankees (97% to 58% in 2 weeks)
  21. I wonder what would happen if the Jays make the World Series. Does MLB just buy a bunch of tickets for sponsors?
  22. Houser's lower ERA than FIP is a this year thing. As a starter in 2019, he had 4.57 ERA and a 4.22 FIP. So I would not project him outperforming his FIP going forward.
  23. LOL what? I mean, playing for the Wild Card would be the literal opposite of giving up. But that 2nd Wild Card spot is both the Reds and Cardinals only legit shot at the playoffs at that point. But what real chance do they have against the Dodgers or the Giants? Likely about 40%
  24. Weird day in baseball today. Red Sox lost to Cleveland, White Sox lost to KC, Yankees lost to Baltimore, Rays lost to Minnesota, Reds lost to Detroit.
