  1. In general if your grill doesn't have a tank or if you want a backup its cheaper just to buy a tank from a refill place since you'll often get charged $25 to purge an empty tank. After that its usually cheaper to go someplace to have it filled. That's assuming you ahve aplace nearby, no sense in driving an extra 10 miles to save $2.
  2. Narveson has a 0.75 ERA! The fact he hasn't been given a rotation spot yet is utterly stupid!
  3. If Dillon plays they would move Hart over to CF
  4. Except every system projects Capuano and Bush to be better than Suppan Suppan FIP 4.57-4.76 Bush FIP 4.25-4.44 Capuano FIP 4.09-4.58
  5. Vargas' main problem is very simple: http://www.fangraphs.com/graphs/1695_P_season_full_4_20071001.png I have no reason to believe thats changed.
  6. Not sure hoiw overpaying for mediocrity sends a signal about the Brewers being serious about winning. Suppan makes $12 million next season. Yes thats is going to be hard to move.
  7. Counsell had a 900 OPS through two months in 2006. He didn't suddenly become a great hitter. Unless you believe Weeks suddenly forgot how to hit, why are you worried?
  8. Hey, if Bill wasn't told about it in a production meeting it might as well didn't happen. Sure you would think that getting paid 6 figures for a job that last only 8 months would mean you might want to know what you're talking about but apparently baseball color guys don't work that way.
  9. No thats not the point. They are treating pitches before age 26 as equally damaging. There is absolutely no reason to believe that pitch 11 is as harmful as pitch 111. And so when you start using coefficients to interpret marginal effects you'll screw things up.
  10. Huh? Yes aside from being all offense no defense 1B who hit for average and power they have nothing in common
  11. Please explain how spring training is so much different then minor league baseball that what wouldn't be noticed in a AA game suddenly is beyond the pale in Spring Training when the exact same players are involved with both
  12. Yes Weeks was pretty much injured all of 2005. He got injured in like late July and for some stupid reason they kept him in the lineup for the rest of the season. And yes I'm still upset with that incredibly foolish decision.
  13. Seriously, take Suppan, Bush, Capuano, and Villeneuva and any of those 4 could have a great year. There just isn't that much difference between the four that random variations are going to outweigh everything else (assuming all are healthy).
  14. Thank god there are projections! And lots of them! Gross: Bill James .364 CHONE .347 Marcel .348 MINER .338 ZiPS .358 Gwynn: Bill James .329 CHONE .320 Marcel .331 MINER .297 ZiPS .325
  15. Spring training is one of those areas where MLB still acts like its 1966 and basically acts like Arizona and Florida are some remote locations without that new fangled long distance telephone. I can't believe they don't have full umpiring crews.
  16. Gwynn doesn't make great contact, the same people saying he's a gold glover are the same people saying Braun would be fine at 3B, Gwynn hasn't been Gold Glove caliber while in the majors, Hart needs to learn to play center soon anyway and has already played it, you can never have too much offense, a Gwynn/Kapler platoon stinks
  17. Eliminating Bonds eliminates the only one with any real value
  18. If you don't want HD, most capture cards will read non digital cable channels just fine and allow you to watch and record them. HD is another mater. AMD/ATI has a card that allows for QAM tuning: http://ati.amd.com/products/tvwonder600/pci/index.html And there are probably others out there. This would allow for HD signals plus the regular cable channels. However, HD video can be rather resource intensive so if your hardware isn't up to snuff, it won't matter anyway.
  19. LaPorta won't even be in Nashville until July. Let the guy actually hit AA pitching before sitting Ryan Braun so he can play in Milwaukee
  20. Turnbow was taken out of any type of windup due to his huge flailing. He's not going anywhere back to even long relief much less starting.
  21. They don't need to be DFA'd. Again the only one out of options is Vargas. Capuano and Bush can be optioned down. The only difference is they will still make $3.75 and $2.5 million in AAA and you'll have them spending a year of their prime in Nashville
  22. Nope, contra the myth of Yost patiently waiting for Hardy's offense to come around, Yost quasi- benched him after 6 weeks due to non performance.
  23. I highly doubt that its a linear function and as such you are really screwing with things when trying to fit a line to it
