This is one of the things I'm not clear about. If Hendrickson is put on waivers and is claimed he is gone. Fine with that. I still don't understand when a player is put on waivers isn't claimed but still is property of the waiving team.
David Bell's career line is .257/.320/.396. No he likely won't out hit Graffanino. Really if the Brewers go with another infielder with Koskie out they might as well go with Rottino.
There is no clog. The Brewers can't keep all of Sheets, Bush and Capuano. Hopefully it comes down to one of Bush or Capuano to go. Vargas is short term and likely gone after this season. Suppan will likely be traded after 2008. So in the next two years there will be three openings in the rotation.
Pretty sure that with most option buy outs, its the same as when a team renounces the rights to a FA at the end of a season (ie what happened with David Bell)
Mulder is at out until at least July last I heard. Blavasi isn't just trying to get himself fired, he's trying to make sure the next GM will be so loaded down with bad contracts, he'll get fired too.
Sure you could use that, but most people already use ISP or Isolated Slugging Percentage. Its just SLG-BA to take away singles. The reason why this has some more value than just XBH% is that it keep the differences between 2Bs, 3Bs and HRs intact.
The thing is those stupid people are the front office of the Cubs. If you include the signing bonus apparently its $10 million over 5 years with two option years at about $3 million each. Which means he must have something in his contract forcing him to be added to the 40 man almost immediately, similar to what Weeks got.
Actually its fairly easy to pass up. $8 million is more than he'd make in his first 4 to 5 years in the NFL even if everything works out. Baseball guarentees more money, players tend to make more money, and the pension system is much better.
Vargas will be gone in one or two seasons. Suppan likely in two unless they can't sign Sheets. Capuano will likely be gone in 3. Things will more than sort themselves out.
When will BP publish the estimated std of their PECOTA projections? They have them and often referrence the probability distribution of a given player. Why not just throw up one number that gives alot of information? I'm not asking for soem esoteric 4th moment here. As to the difference between Mench and Jenkins, its probably all due to Jenkins having a higher probability of collapse due to his age.
