  1. Yuni just shouldn't play. He should definitely not hit for himself late when behind.
  2. Knew Green had no shot today. I thought he might have got in on Sunday but for one day in amonth we didn't get a Sunday lineup. Though everytime I see Betancourt hitting 6th I still shake my head trying to figure out how well Lucroy has to hit and how bad Betancourt would have to be for Lucroy not to hit 8th.
  3. He was just celebrating the Brewers selling 3 million tickets
  4. No it isn't. Not when your baseline is Betancourt. You have Cedano, Furcal might give it another go, Barmes, Santiago, Scutaro. No one spectacular but everyone better than Betancourt.
  5. It is bogus. There is no room in the Brewers bullpen. MLB wants draft picks to sign early. Draft picks have every right not to. The 6 weeks has nothing to do with development and everything to do with the fact that draft picks get more leverage as the deadline apraoches.
  6. Ugh. I guess I'm just happy that Betancourt throw didn't end up in the dugout
  7. Yes. I am assuming a player with legitimately 0 career major league at bats until September will produce at a high rate in the playoffs. I don't think that's all that far-fetched to assume. I think statistics are on my side, and even if a success story in the situation is found, it's probably an outlier. The fact playoff teams aren't regularly calling up brand new prospects and plumping them into starting roles should be proof enough that it's probably not a good idea. The batting average of the Giants is a response to the argument that teams with holes in their lineup can't win a World Series. I brought up the Giants because it was the obvious and most recent case. The 2009 Phillies only had one player batting over .290 in their every-day lineup. The fact the Brewers have two MVP-caliber players in their line-up should compensate for players who aren't batting over .250. If teams can win series with great pitching, why the hell would the Brewers risk putting a huge unproven liability in at 3B when they have average production (historically enough to win the WS) at 3B.Its amusing you say that following a team with Francisco Rodriquez on it.
  8. Considering that Doug Melvin said Jungmann could have helped the Brewers out this year if he would have signed earlier means that Jungmann should be in the discussion for 2012/2013. It's highly unlikely that the Brewers trade Wolf in his last season with the Brewers. Especially after the season he's having this year. That my friends is bogus. There has been this sudden push to get draft picks to sign earlier to "get thier careers going". Its a bad argument. Missing 6 weeks of rookie ball of low A is pretty much meaningless. Weighing against that is the risk of injury and having a career flame out in 2 years.
  9. Miami is a top market with a great city nightlife. Only cheap ownership has cost that team from being a premier FA destination.
  10. Does anyone know if a player gets sent down and their minor league team is finished for the season do they still have to wait 10 days of rosters have expanded?
  11. Or they can do the smart thing and use part of the $20m coming of the books in salary and sign a decent SS without making them lose talent. Ramon Santiago can likely be had for less than $2m for example.
  12. I don't get why people are so hyped to trade away pitching depth. The Brewers have zero depth after Peralta. Wolf isn't going to bring much back and at 1 year/ $10m its worth it to buy one more cheap year of Peralta and protects you against injury. The Brewers have been exceptionally lucky this season with pitcher injuries with only Greinke missing significant time and Estrada able to cover all the starts. They are the only team to have used only 6 starters this year. What would have happened of Narveson cuts his thumb in April and if it was more serious causign him to miss more time? What if a pitcher develops a blister problem? The Brewers don't have anything else to really spend money on and will have a decent amount freed up next year anyway.
  13. or it proves that morgan has already been used this game. yeah my fault, still Kotsay and Kottaras should be in there over either of our minor league left sidersNot going to happen since RR somehow has used up his entire infield bench.
  14. I'd rather have Ramon Santiago and Logan Schaffer than Ian Desmond. I wouldn't give up Gomez for Desmond at this point.
  15. Right on CBSsports, this comes originally from the Nats beat reporter with mlb.com who basically says that LaRoche is fine at 1B according to the Nats. Hard to throw a guy who you are paying $8m next year under the bus right now. EDIT:Also since Fielder is still under contract a Nats official can't say they'll be going after him since that would be tampering.
  16. All this is based on one unnamed source 2 months before FA begins.
  17. Or the Brewers can do the smart thing and not trade any of their pitchers since more than likely 7 or 8 different pitchers will get multiple starts and it can buy you and extra year of Peralta.
  18. Mass Effect 3 had been moved to March if you didn't know.
  19. He didn't pitch yesterday, and hoping he doesn't tomorrow. Dillard went two yesterday, and De Le Cruz also got roughed up and threw a lot of pitches. Who else do you use? Loe
  20. Rodriguez's xFIP from 2009-2011: 3.57, 3.55, 3.65 Jared Weaver's xFIP from 2009-2011: 4.40, 3.32, 3.63 Rodriquez for 2 years $24.5m is a steal assuming his option doesn't vest. Even if it does 3years/ $36m isn't a huge amount of money for a capable pitcher.
