  1. I've been seeing the baseballs. But the good news is that seeing "New Post" is the backup in case the graphics don't load. It could be either a Brewerfan thing or a Yuku thing that causes this. Come back and post to this thread if the issue persists on your end.
  2. I'd bet that the meals are paid for by the press representatives' employers. They'd certainly have a meal allowance on the road.
  3. He at least didn't do anything to warrant losing his job... Rick's knowledge of the minors was abhorrent. A typical answer started with "the last I heard," and then he'd say something that was about a month old. As far as any detail, forget it. As for the race thing, let's cut it off right here before it sidetracks the thread and causes temptation to escalate it into something that's inappropriate.

  7. The age comparison is a joke. Don't go that route. It's condescending to those who think it's valid.
  8. Reply #6 in the June 4th non-Brewer in-game thread.
  9. Given Kapler's injury and retirement years, I thought I'd have to work a bit to find reasonable samples to work with. But that wasn't the case. Not counting Cameron's two "pre-rookie" seasons which totaled 49 ABs, Mike's OPS+ has been below 100 only once. That was way back in 1998. Kapler, on the other hand, has had an OPS+ above 100 in only three seasons, most recently in 2003.
  10. That would have been Nolan Ryan, George Brett, and Robin Yount. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/wink.gif I know many felt Robin would have gotten more votes had some writers not been stuck on voting for only two guys. As a matter of fact, that was the first time since the Hall's early years that more than two players were admitted in the "regular" election.
  11. I think 500 innings is considered a decent sample.
  12. I think there's a definite point to your peeve. After all, Jeff only has a little under of a season's worth of starts at Miller Park.
  13. I think it's probably the school groups. It would seem that they're a lot more likely to attend games in the spring rather than in September.
  14. "Why does Jeff do his job better at Miller Park?" is the question at hand. I think TooLive addresses that: the park isn't friendly to ground balls and singles. I'd love to hear other theories, too.
  15. The lock message is up now. Single game material belongs in the In-Game Thread forum. A copy of that post has been placed in yesterday's non-Brewer game thread. There's a direct link in the lock message. EDIT: It probably would have been a good idea to post an intermediate lock message while the copying and merging was going on. The link could have been provided afterwards.
  16. Messages pertaining to a single game belong in the In-Game Thread forum. If there isn't a non-Brewer game thread for a particular day, you're free to create one over there. I'm assuming this video belongs in yesterday's non-Brewer game thread. A copy of the post above has been merged into that thread.
  17. For sure. The stuff FOX does on purpose can frequently be as bad as this year's goofy mistakes. I always felt Daron Sutton was much better when he was away from FOX, for instance. His blog was good and his webcasts were excellent.
  18. Back to the issue at hand, I can see both sides, but I think historical fact wins out. The information is readily available in any number of ways. For instance, anyone can keep score. I can see why MLB and the players went to court, though. Sometimes, to protect one's interests, it's deemed necessary to go that route. I wouldn't have a problem if baseball decided to charge for stats under different conditions, though. If MLB and the union want to bundle up their web site data in disk format, for instance, I'd be fine with that. And as we get into more pitch tracking and computerized defensive stats, there could easily be something unique that could be made available that couldn't be gotten otherwise. Basic data, stats that can be gleaned from that data, and player names? That information should be free to use.

  20. Yuku staff member Alison reported about an hour and a half ago that some fixes have been implemented. Please note if things have gotten better or if they're still the same. Also, I should have mentioned this before, but it's always a good idea to include your browser and operating system when reporting any kind of Internet-related issue. That helps developers to track down the source of a problem. In this particular case, I've seen reports of this issue occurring in IE and Safari.
  21. Here's the article: Dream comes true for fantasy sports business Just to clarify... The lead post used "MLB" and "MLB Players Union" somewhat interchangeably. Both entities were plaintiffs in this suit.

  23. This topic has been merged into tonight's in-game thread. The lead post is here.
  24. You can also very easily have a groundball turn into a double play. Branyan would have been very unlikely to do that. Honestly, I can't get bent about this decision, though. The upside to using Kapler is that keeping Branyan available would have offered more double-switch options had one been needed later on.
