This is the 3rd straight year you have said this. If we had followed your line of thinking, there would be nothing left to trade. Ironically, we wouldn't be contending anyway, because we would have traded everything we have to land Quintana, and in turn -- Yelich wouldn't be here. You know we can't go big every year, right? In any event, I'm not sure why you think this team, other than just getting really lucky, has a chance to get by even the Braves much less the Dodgers in the NL playoffs, two far superior teams. Half the teams in the NL should feel they have just as good of a chance. At what point are you not going to "go for it?" I'm not going to "go for it" when the talent level clearly isn't good enough to make the playoffs. You play 5 game series and 7 game series in baseball, anything can happen. We've seen it many times before. Conversely, I'm not sure why so many are hesitant to trade "prospects"?? They are just that...unproven talent. When has a small market team ever been in playoff contention every year?? It just doesn't happen, and hasn't happened. When you have the chance to make the playoffs, you simply have to go for it..next year isn't guaranteed for anything.

That's why you use pieces that are currently with the big league club..Peralta, Burnes, Arcia. Still young guys and under control, but proven major league talent. If I'm the Mets, that's what I want.

The funny thing is, the Cubs are only mediocre because of the bad moves they made to win one WS which drastically cut the window they had. A team like Milwaukee has to have more balance. If you want to go all in and win one just to win one like the 108-year drought team did, it will likely come at the cost of success beyond that. Or in hindsight..... one looks back at 2008, 2011, and 2018 and thinks it would have been nice to add another piece(like a bat at short in 2011 or ace last year) and see how that could have improved the team since, in my mind, the little engine cannot be expected to be in it every season. I would tend to make bolder moves when we are are in it come July 31 because of this thinking. The whole model of being playoff competitive yearly..... I'm not sold on it. I see us taking a step back next year, as is. Who doesn't?? No Grandal or Moose likely, right? No immediate upgrades there. I would expect us to be much more aggressive at this year's deadline (and it's a hard deadline at that so no Stearns' bargain hunting in August) since next year is likely a step back unless we trade for a top of the order bat or ace that we can control next year. This is so spot on...When has a small market team ever been in playoff contention on a yearly basis?? It just doesn't happen. That's why when you have a chance to not only make the playoffs but advance to the World Series, you go for it, and don't look back. You simply, have to. Go big, or go home. If Stearns only makes a few minor moves this year, shame on him for "cheating" the fans and his current players like that. Trade what you have to trade without it effecting your chances this year(guys like Burnes, Peralata, Arica are prime trade bait to me) and get some big things done. He owes it to the fans and the current team.

This deal should be so easy to get done...Burnes, Peralta, Arcia, and if they want another minor piece, so be it. Get it done, have the press conference. Easy Peasy.

As long as Yelich is under team control...that's your window(potentially). But right now..As long as the Cubs are being mediocre, that's your window. As long as you are within a 1/2 game of the division, that's your window. Can you guarantee they will be in the same position next year, especially if Moose and Grandal are gone?? Or the year after that?? or the year after that?? As long as Yelich is still under contract, you owe it to him, his teammates and the fans to do EVERYTHING you can to win a World Series. Are any of the prospects currently in the minors going to be major contributors to the Brewers so long as Yelich is here?? HIGHLY doubtful. There value is trade value that can bring pieces to help the big league club now. That's another good point...everyone says the Brewers don't have the pieces to make "big" trades at the deadline..Yet, these are the same players that everyone is pining their future hopes on. If they aren't good enough to bring back what they need now, it's highly unlikely they will be good enough in a couple of years to make major contributions.

This would be an incredibly harmful way to run a franchise like Milwaukee. Sometimes instant gratification isn't the answer. And what happens if you never have the window you do now in your lifetime?? There are no guarantees. Try to capitalize on the opportunities you have in front of you, because they may never present themselves again.

But what do you do when you have no one coming in the pipeline because you have shopped them all? The Brewers cannot afford to do the free agent way for their 40 man roster. There has to be a balance. And what do you do if very few of the prospects ever develop into anything better than a good /decent major leaguer?? You're going to be bad for several years under either scenario. I don't even have to think twice about giving up any number of prospects for proven major leaguers. When you have the chance to do big things, you take that chance and don't think twice about it.

You people run too scared about giving up prospects. It's not like they will end up being the next Nolan Ryan or Ken Griffey Jr. Who cares what they COULD become, that's in the future. You play to win now. Give up what you have to give up to improve your team anyway that you can THIS year, and worry about next year and future years when they come. I couldn't care less about the prospects they'd give up...gve up Arcia and Peralta and Corbin Burnes too if you have to..I want to see them win NOW. The future is never guaranteed.

Assuming this stays 5-2 heading into the 7th, the Crew needs at least 2 in the 7th to have any chance.

I mean why not call up Drew Smyly?? He can't be much worse than what they have now and at least he's a veteran, that might be able to use his experience to get out of some situations. Obviously Stearns isn't that interested in helping the staff externally so..

I think he's way too passive to begin with...the fact he has done NOTHING to this point doesn't help his cause with me, and if not a new arm by next week, then I'm really done with him. You going to fire him? No, but I will no longer go to games(cancel season tickets) and will make sure I let Mark A know how I feel. Enough of this panzy GM stuff. be more like Doug Melvin.

Right now they have no one to replace him with but once Gio comes back I fully expect Houser to go from the rotation to the bullpen where he belongs. There really isn't a starting pitcher out there that I want the Brewers to go out and get as a rental. The Nationals have come back to life and that throws them out and the Mets are going to want a lot for Wheeler more than what he is actually worth. Bumgarner is out there but the Giants are not going to give him up for anything but multiple top 50 type prospects (not going to happen from any team). Boyd is going to cost way too much for the Brewers to get if they are asking for Tucker from the Astros their ask is way to high for the Brewers to even meet. The only realistic option for the Brewers will be Bumgarner and that is only if the Giants come down from their demands and if they do more teams will be in on him so that actually removes the Brewers again. The best the Brewers can hope for in a turn around from their starting pitchers is to hope Chacin and Gio will be better in the 2nd half than what they have been, more so Chacin than Gio. Stearns can either let this team keep floundering, or pay the price. Does he want to play big boy baseball or not?? You can be damn sure that Melvin would go get a big arm, whatever the cost. I don't want a rental either, get a TOR arm that has some control, even if it's another year. Pay the damn price...they're PROSPECTS, that's it. Either act like a real GM or don't. He's been good signing FA's, and outside the Yelich trade, his trades haven't impressed me all that much(except Moose). But it's damn time he gets more aggressive and does whatever he needs to do. Yes! I’ve said this so many times haha I cannot tell Grindle or Levering apart, they sound ridiculously similar. I'm in this camp too. Have said that to many people, that I cannot tell the difference between the two

And to think...the only reason any of this happens to begin with is Cain dropping basically a routine fly ball. He catches that, none of the rest of it ever happens.

Not doing anything is worse than either buying or selling. Not necessarily. Depends on what is available. It's too early for much trade action, except for Dipoto who has a trade addiction. You make teams make guys available now..in other words...pay the damn price.

Hopefully working on some sell orders. With two of our top 3 hitters being free agents after the season, selling makes a helluva lot more sense than buying right now. I wish people would stop with the sell BS. They are NOT going to be sellers..the problem is, it looks like they aren't going to be buyers either...the crickets are chirping in Stearns's office.

Unfortunately I think there are too many holes in this team to fix without completely gutting the farm system. Are they going to be the same old Brewers or are they going to play big boy baseball and do what it takes to make this team better??
