For all those that DON'T want to do this deal.....what happens if Escobar and/or Gamel are busts?? What if Prince or Braun suffer a season ending or perhaps even a career ending injury in two years?? The point is, no one has any idea what the future holds, but we do know what the present holds, and at present, this team IS a playoff team with a stud like Halladay in the rotation. That doesn't even account for having him next year as well. You have to do the deal, i don't care if they want Escobar AND Gamel. I know what I am getting with Halladay, those two I don't. I'd have Gamel and Escobar on the first plane to Toronto if that is what it took to do the deal.

Whatever it takes to get Halladay(short of Prince, Braun or Yo), you do it and don't even think twice about it. I for one, tasted success last year with the Brewers and I want more. You worry about next year and future years, when they get here.

Hmmmm, could things be heating up?? http://www.jsonline.com/blogs/sports/51065382.html
  4. Brewcrewin07
Actually, since the Cards and Cubs play a DH tomorrow, the Crew could be 1/2 game out if the Cubs were to sweep the double dip.
  5. Brewcrewin07
It's obvious after watching the Crew the last several weeks they need both a bat AND an arm or two. So what will Doug do?? Sit on his hands, or turn over every rock and find a deal to make?? So far he has sat on his hands.

If they lose this game, I have a feeling this will be curtains for your 2009 Milwaukee Brewers.

I like DM, but perhaps had he been doing his job and not sitting on his hands still Ryan wouldn't have had to pop off. I don't buy this BS about there not being alot available. Almost EVERYONE is available for the right price. You just have to be willing to pay it, and apparently by DM saying he's not trading Escobar or Gamel, he's not willing to pay the price. You can't have it both ways Doug. Either you are serious about REALLY trying to improve this club or you aren't. If you are, then you don't make any player off limits except Braunie, Prince and Yo. Everyone else should be expendable in the right deal. You either want to win now or you don't, which is it Doug?? Your inactivity to this point leads me to believe you aren't that interested in winning now, and you are getting on Braun because you know he's right, and you don't intend on doing anything BIG to help the ballclub. Doug Davis, though decent is NOT the kind of move to put this team over the top. He should know that.

The idea that teams aren't selling is bunk. EVERYONE has a price, it's just a matter of whether or not you are willing to pay that price. Doug needs to do something with the pitching staff, and do it soon, before there is no pennant race. I for one would also not mind seeing another good bat added to the lineup, you can never have enough IMO.
  9. Brewcrewin07
For P Chris Perez and a player to be named. The Crew did NOT need the Cards getting DeRo. Doug needs to do something.
  10. Brewcrewin07
I know this isn't really a game thread type post, but Mark DeRosa is NOT in Cleveland's lineup tonight and was seen making several phone calls prior to the game. People in Cleveland are speculating he's been traded. How much you want to bet if he's been traded it's to STL?? That would be typical.

This is just Manny being Manny. he's terrible and has no business being in this rotation. Melvin can't replace him soon enough IMO.
  12. Brewcrewin07
It is not just frustration. I want Manny out of the rotation.....tomorrow. He's weak. Yes, the Brewers defense gave up a few outs, but this is exactly where Manny struggles. One bad thing happens in an inning and he doesn't have the mental fortitude to buckle down and get out of the inning. Instead, he gets flustered and the inning spirals out of control and before you know it the Brewers are out of the game. He is the only pitcher in the rotation that can't get out of jams without getting pounded for a few runs. It happens time and time again with him. When is enough, enough??
  13. Brewcrewin07
Dear Doug, please make a trade for Jake Peavey or ANY other competent big league starter and get Mental midget out of this rotation please......forever.
  14. Brewcrewin07
This is just Manny being Manny.
  15. Brewcrewin07
Manny "the mental midget" Parra is back. Then again, has he ever left??
  16. Brewcrewin07
I have less faith in Manny then any other pitcher in the starting rotation, and that includes Suppan. It's sad, but Manny just doesn't have the mental makeup to be in the majors right now.
  17. Brewcrewin07
I am sure Catalanatto can play some RF. Heck, who can't?? So, if you want Cam to have some days off shift hart to Center put Cat in RF. Don't forget Billy Hall either....He certainly could spell Cam in CF if need be.
  18. Brewcrewin07
Why is everyone thinking it's to replace Nelson?? It very well could mean the end of Chris Duffy.
  19. Brewcrewin07
From NSBB.........Earlier he Cardinals announcers called the Brewers' "untuck 'em" celebration the most disrespectful and classless thing in the game today. Let's see it boys!!!
  20. Brewcrewin07
Figures, Reed Johnson doesn't make that catch against any other team.
  21. Brewcrewin07
Done deal according to TH's blog...... http://www.jsonline.com/blogs/sports/39341787.html
  22. Brewcrewin07
    Pedro, check your PM's....Thanks!!
  23. Brewcrewin07
The Cubs losing again would go a long way to taking away the sting from tonight.
  24. Brewcrewin07
Well as one who wasn't a big Yost guy, let me just say that as far as I know, he never threw one pitch, botched one ground ball, or struck out with the bases loaded to end a game even ONE time when he was the Manager. Did I agree with most of his decisions?? Not at all, but at the end of the day it still comes down to the players performing. Yeah, a part of me feels bad for him.

Not sure if this is buried in another thread anywhere, and if it is, feel free to lock it mods. http://www.philly.com/phi.../Hamels_Myers_Moyer_.html
