    I don't have an opinion as much as mixing and matching the term ace and then using 1/2/3 terminology leads to versions of this discussion over and over.

    I think this is a classic problem where people often think of an ace as a top 10-15 pitcher in the league.

    That does seem awfully extreme. On the other hand only 12 teams have an over .500 record at the moment, which also seems a to be getting toward the extreme.

    I would definitely want to see Mitchell on a rehab assignment, but he has done enough that if he looks ready and productive in game action I have no issue optioning Chourio for a bit.

    Assuming we won't bat here in the 9th, can we have more hits than outs? We already have more non outs than outs unless it goes to extra innings.

    My big surprise so far with Frelick is the relatively modest number of steals. Anybody pick-up on any reason he doesn't run more?

    Sal steadily creeping towards a .700 OPS over the last week.

    Even if the Mets are picking up a good chunk of the tab on Alonso, that batting profile just looks not exciting. He hit 46 HRs last year and only had a .504 SLG. I can't really think of that big of a power hitter having that empty of a line. Mid 60's BB totals for that power output is really telling.

    I agree with getting Jackson a break, maybe even a long one to really get settled, and at present a professional RH OFer is a solid value play for the team. With the lead not a huge urge to have to do something right away as Jackson or Weimer could put it together in the next 2 months, but for the stretch run and playoffs you don't want to give ABs away.

    Great win, and even on the radio this team is just a lot of fun to listen to. Watched the condensed game today and that Frelick slide was fantastic.

    Glad Perkins didn't get injured on that last catch. Sliding head first into the wall was a little concerning to watch even if it was a crazy awesome catch.

    Starting pitching would be ideal, but there is definitely a universe where getting Pham is a nice add. Hopefully Mitchell can step in and be at least respectable here soon, but we saw the difference down the stretch last year it made to not have big line-up holes and right now RF is a big hole.

    If just one of the young OFers would find the Turang level (not style necessarily though for Frelick that would be fine) adjusting to the league we could go from good to feared offense.

    You didn't say it directly but perhaps the diversity of hitting approaches helps explain why they are so middle of the road on some team wide stats, yet the overall production is strong.

    That miss rate chart for Dunn though is so bad, in particular because he has obvious holes high the zone, low in the zone, outside and inside. Which means every pitcher has at least 1 really good place to attack him regardless of the arsenal of pitches they have.
