  1. Great time for another 8 minute long TD drive
  2. I hate giving up the TD, but Dallas was a lot closer to getting nothing on that drive than anything else, so just keep the offense going in the second half and it's OK
  3. I'll just flat out say, I don't think our young WR develop nearly as well if Rodgers is still the QB. I think he is at a point were he can't work well because he is too used to his own way and thinking about a bunch of stuff that just overwhelms younger players to the point it's counter productive.
  4. If this defense shows up we might even win a playoff game
  5. About time Fields got pulled for the concussion protocol
  6. If that Bears catch somehow stands that is definitely a touchdown.
  7. I would definitely concur with not wanting to switch scheme's at this stage and have to wait around for a competitive defense. On the offensive side it's about time to draft a running back, and we could use some line depth or upgrades in a few places, Safety is the glaring weakness on defense, but there are so many guys who were high picks that might really deliver if they were set-up for success that I don't feel like we need an amazing draft. A defense in the 10-15 range might easily be enough with the way the offense has looked, and figures to improve even more.
  8. It also got me thinking about QB play in general in the league. 32 TDs leads the league at the moment, which is a far cry from all the QBs that used to get into the 40+ group in 16 games. It's not a great shot, but Love could end up leading the league in TDs this year. SF doesn't have much to play for and Prescott is only 2 TDs ahead.
  9. That other fun comparison: Jordan Love 16 games 'season 1' 3843 Yards 30 TD 11 INT 63.1 Completion% Aaron Rodgers 16 games '1st' 4038 Yards 28 TD 13 INT 63.6 Completion % Love 10th in Yards for the season, 3rd in TD
  10. And Love comfortable passes Kramer on yards.
  11. After all the nonsense with rookie WR over the last few years, and how mediocre those not named Davante Adams turned out. I am convinced we are better off developing this crop with Love then another year healthy or not under Rodgers.
  12. I would agree that this has been a fantastic era partly because it's been a fun mix of hold overs and changing cast of characters. If Molitor/ Yount had expanded playoffs though they would have had more playoffs, I don't think quite as many total appearances (counting fairly is a little tricky since the playoffs have expanded over the course of the current era).
  13. I briefly turned in the Arizona Bowl today, and wow my wife asked if it was a high school game because the production value was so low and the announcer weren't even paying attention to the game in the first half of a 4 point game. I used to enjoy bowl season, not a crazy amount, but catch a few here and there then cram them in for New Year's. I'm not completely ready to give up on college football, but it is feeling like it wouldn't take much at this point. Big Ten volleyball is pretty exciting
  14. I mean I find myself wondering in an era without Tom Brady is going with talented enough game manager type QBs at a much lower rate a viable strategy for getting into super bowls here and there? The amount of draft capital to take QBs at the top of the draft, frankly doesn't seem like it works out well all that often. Build your O and D-lines with other skill positions as you can and then trying bites of the apple with mid range QBs?
  15. When was the last time MLF had something critical to say about the defense? Let's look at offense for the season Love Yards per game is ranked 15th so right in the middle his QBR is also 15th, but 12th in points per game Defense is 18th in Points per game and 23rd in yards/game That difference isn't quite as big as I might have guessed, but as others have said one unit started slowly as expected and has shown improvement and the other languishes after starting OK. Late edit DVOA rankings place the offense 10th and the defense 30th. That sounds about right.
  16. Oh no I called it, unless you mean the clock magically just hitting zero.
  17. Mission Possible with only 19 seconds and no time outs to worry about can you play soft enough coverage to give up a FG to a rookie QB...
  18. A hologram of Ray Nitschke could provide better up the middle defense...
  19. I'm guessing the average game time impact for these will be pretty small, but having done as much as they did trying to find some other small ways to proactively keep times from creeping too far back up is nice.
  20. Just adding that even all these years later that the Onion showing why they are America's Finest news source is an impressive legacy.
  21. Too many high defensive draft picks, and far too long there is room for accountability beyond just Barry to justify why the defense is so bad and continues to be bad year after year.
  22. Considering how allergic to debt for stadiums MLB is having these very large future debt obligations is really not good for the league as a whole. And the amount of the deferral is so much more extreme in this case. Having your big ticket franchises hurting their future sale price isn't the look MLB is going for either.
  23. Well that was definitely some offensive football in Vegas
  24. I weep for Scott Boras' great-great grandchildren that he was not able to represent Shohei on this commission.
