  1. If Mitchell's value is back up so to speak I'd definitely be willing to trade him for a quality starting pitcher. Might live to regret it or we might enjoy not having 2 OFers who are probably having good years if they get to 100+ games.
  2. I can't get to worked up about that. Erceg had time to show he could turn that corner, but never got there with us. Maybe he does the same for us if still around or maybe for all the pitching labs excellence there was something he needed to do differently with someone else. The overall pattern of the organization is that players generally get a fair chance and they are constantly trying to find guys at the back end of the roster who can do pretty good things.
  3. I haven't seen anyone compare predictions on the overall quality of a draft vs final production but there have definitely been entire years with very few MLB players coming out of a draft
  4. At what point do we just admit that the Rays and Brewers actually share a single 80-man roster and just take turns adjusting their individual 26-man?
  5. I wonder if Stearns signed with the wrong New York team, he could be signing and trading for all of this previous players along with Rodgers and build a Juggernaut that can win the Super Bowl and WS with a time machine...
  6. Enough of the young guys have developed this year now that there is a path to the World Series that just involves 3-4 of them getting hot at the same time. Won't know if that happens till we get to October, but you can see the possibility now.
  7. This mid to late July schedule is about the nicest stretch I can recall. A homestand going into the All-star break, the break of course then a 'road trip' to the Twin Cities and Chicago before going back home. There's a pretty good chance that most of us are traveling more than the team over those 3 weeks.
  8. And with the exception of Turang all the rest of the Brewers on that list have their totals lowered by reduced playing time. I mean both Frelick and Chourio made it at the same position.
  9. The roster limits are definitely worth keeping in mind. And given how aggressively they seem to manage the 40-man and other parts of the organization I'm sure they are thinking hard about how to manage their chances with every single space.
  10. Especially if I am a pitcher, I would find it hard to pass up a solid 6+ figure offer from the Brewers. Get premier development. A chance to get to MLB faster and the low minors salaries aren't as terrible anymore. And probably better care in case of an injury. In terms of draft strategy I expect that their pattern will again shift in a few years as industry patterns change. About the only constant has been liking up the middle prospects for awhile now.
  11. I heard O'Dowd say he was really good at handling high heat especially for a left hander. I was amused by that.
  12. Have we started to see any NIL deals on the baseball side that might affect what players sign for?
  13. On some level there is a risk to the take underslot to later draft overslot. Nothing guarantees guys you really like are going to be there. I have no idea how to quantify that risk, but if drafts like last year are the upside it seems like it's worth trying.
  14. If off days lead to Hiura threads then the team needs to suck it up and play on in 2024.
  15. That looked like they pitched around Chourio. I'll take it
  16. If we are talking similar prospect value to what we just gave up for Civale I like this move a lot, and while he's probably already done enough for the HOF I would agree leading the Brewers to the series would do a lot more for increasing that vote and perception than the Dodgers.
  17. Even moreso than his predecessor Arnold seems to be leaning into the boatload of transactions approach Baltimore kind of pioneered some years back. Recognizing that each transaction is a bit of a gamble, but really digging into those near 50-50 gambles seems to be working since they generally move on before letting them really drag on too long if they fail. This one seems better chances than that to help out in some meaningful ways.
  18. Really they should just put a uniform on a pitching machine for this series every year pitching just doesn't seem to matter ever in Coors
  19. Just need a walk here to load the bases so Garret can join the grand slam club. Well that's what I get for typing slow
  20. Can't have too much range in Colorado in the OF
  21. Another West Coast road trip is not exciting, so I'll also go with the 13-11
