  1. Turang's walk numbers up a lot this month now, and going back to June his contact has been dramatically better. I think that is part of the adjustment process for him.
  2. I don't know this fake the bunt strategy seems to be working really well for Turang.
  3. I do love the MVP version of Yelich.
  4. I was trying to figure out how to do worse than Winker's .247 SLG, and was disturbed to learn that JBJ is still playing and has put up a 397 OPS I thought baseball was a family game. In any event prior to this year even JBJ always beat that terrible of a SLG

  6. From a finance side a player should also be evaluating how signing affects their entire career. A-ball players of course aren't making any noteworthy money, but at least you don't have to try and secure a 6 figure signing bonus anymore to live off for a few years. That starts to change some of the calculus. Getting started in pro-ball earlier for sure gets you to minor league free agency sooner, which is now worth some good money, and it increases the chances you hit MLB free agency sooner all of which add up to significant potential benefit. If I am a pitcher at this stage and offered a chance with the Brewers I would also have to look at that as a significant plus...
  7. Frelick, Black, Urias, Keston and a couple of other prospects in the 10-20 range? 20 players is over the top, but the Angels need a lot of players having failed terribly at the 2 all time greats approach so quantity may actually be more useful to them then normal.
  8. Bellinger coming back to being well above average is even more surprising then Yelich. The last 2 years for Cody were horrific followed by just plain bad.
  9. Could I make more on tomorrow night's Powerball or by going back in time and betting the Brewers would shut the Reds out 3 games in a row?
  10. Any ideas on why this game won't stream on MLB while I'm in St. Paul? Fox is airing the Braves game.
  11. At the moment he is absolutely the best player in the game at the teams biggest weakness, DH and would make that rotation look closer to the imposing unit from a few years back. I think you have to at least kick the tires. Maybe the Angels get side tracked into a quantity for quality type deal? You don't want to look back after the fact and go 'we could have beat that offer' .
  12. Winning series is nice, but now would be an excellent time for a sweep to actually have a small lead in the division. No surprise though that our record has been very good the last few weeks once we started to score runs again.
  13. Getting closer to needing to get at least 1 new vehicle and I'm definitely considering EV.
  14. I feel like Yoho would have relatively little leverage. Yes he can get redrafted, but how good do you have to be as a 24 year old to significantly improve your stock let alone trying to get lined up to have at least a chance at making decent money in your playing career.
  15. Long term it's not really an issue, but I would guess the Brewers might in part be slow to promote Quero because Catcher is not an immediate need. He's still super young let him work on AA the whole year, get some more time next year in spring working with the MLB guys and send him to AAA as a potential call-up but really hoping you don't need him full time for 2 more years.
  16. Any recommendations for getting them out of my house? I bought a vacant house 5 years ago in Clark County, and it had been overrun. We spray outside windows and doors twice a years and it's manageable but they die year round inside the house and I haven't quite figured out how to clear out those that somehow lay eggs that hatch throughout the winter.
  17. I wouldn't be surprised to see them lean towards pitchers a bit next year. We certainly have some, and I have confidence at this point that between savy pick-ups and good development we should always have solid or better bullpen options available, so we aren't desperate for pitching or anything, but you can never have too many pitching prospects.
  18. This thread will only last days until it becomes moot after his promotion.
  19. I just wished my grandpa was still around so I could ask him about what it was like when the Cards were bad all the time.
  20. Seems like a good place to comment that Chourio is just a little under the league average OPS for the Southern League despite being almost 5 years younger than average, his strikeout rate is reasonable and he plays an up the middle position. Not a breakout performance, but definitely holding his own and developing. There are different ways for him to get there of course, but if he went 2-4 with a HR and double tomorrow he's be almost exactly on the league average OPS to put some context on how close he is already.
  21. I'd settle for a higher contact OBP heavy .750 OPS bat who plays above average defense at first
  22. If we had fewer issues in the line-up I'd be willing to trade Chourio to rent Ohtani, but that's about it. As I look at the leader boards for LF, 1st, and DH I miss the 90's when sluggers who were defense optional grew on trees. Our production there has been terrible, but even almost all the modest .800 OPS level bats are already on contenders.
  23. Was it maybe a check you deposited from someone else? I had that happen once, very annoying because it was family as well.
  24. Throw in that Pittsburgh game from last week along with the 2 close ones from this series and we are really close to having gone on one heck of a streak.
  25. Caratini frames so well he can steal balls while at bat.
