  1. I down grade them for not making these types of moves earlier (though that may not have been completely in their control). I also think it is fair to limit grade inflation and to get an A either you need to get stud MLB players or be selling and get stud minor leaguers. Low cost of acquisition definitely raises the grade, Having a high trade volume compared to everyone else is also a positive as I think the team is definitely getting something worthwhile in each deal. Creative in basically managing the entire roster and not just worrying about the current MLB team is also a noteworthy positive. I think collectively we have about as much minor league talent as we did before the trades started, and more useful pieces to us at the major league level. So overall I'd call it a B
  2. Given the large amount of positional flexibility elsewhere on the roster currently and in the near future, I think the positional adjustments built into WAR stats for DHing are artificially suppressing his value to us. Or flipped around another way we are often playing very mediocre bats at that position where their defensive value doesn't net us any benefit. Honestly given the likely lowered asking price because of his limitations and injury history he is probably more attractive to us. With Black and Chourio looking like they will be pushing for call-ups next season that future injury risk is also a bit less daunting.
  3. I wonder if they were trying to at least test a more aggressive promotion path for Misiorowski to increase and evaluate options to replace Burnes and Woodruff?
  4. He made some pretty good pitches to Turang there after getting down 3-0.
  5. Frelick with the double. I love it.
  6. There have obviously been some attempts before this to make some incremental improvements, but that stretch included a lot of 1 run losses, and our 1st basemen have hit so bad over the last month it certainly seems like there would have been a good chance that the boost from average 1st base production would have found another win in there somewhere, and that would be pretty significant in the standings at the moment.
  7. I think the practical overlap salary wise of Chourio and Yelich isn't that big of a hurdle in isolation. Even if he is called up early next year his FA equivalent years aren't until we can buy Yelich out. With the way these are typically structured you'd have 1 or maybe 2 years where they both might be making 10 million plus. If you get aggressive and waive money at him early you might be able to even front load him with bigger pay days in the first couple of years and be able to get a solid deal that isn't that high 5 and 6 years out.
  8. Miller seems more likely to go the super sub route, but I don't see why he's stick in place of Turang. over the last 28 days Turang has a .642 OPS compared to Miller's .542. Miller's OPS for the season is only .683, so with the defensive advantage I think Turang sticks as the regular second basemen as you continue to see if these adjustments he's made are for real and that offense continues to rise.
  9. Granted it wasn't that long ago the Pirates were still in it, but the only disappointment is that they didn't make this type of move a few weeks back. A number of close losses in that span that slightly better offense could have made a difference in there somewhere.
  10. I don't necessarily mind the price of a lower level prospect, though they are the hardest to judge value on. I hope Carlos continues to be at least respectable.
  11. I'm with Chorizo on this Frelick, Mitchell, Weimer is the planned starting OF. Yelich gets a shot to learn 1st or DH (maybe or they just assume the 4 share playing time in OF and a big chunk of DH ABs) 4th and 5th OF spots are handled with a similar collection to who we have this year in those roles. Chourio starts in AAA and is likely the first call if there is a noteworthy injury. They'll stash 1 or 2 other guys in AAA to cover that injury if it's minor or too early in the season or if Jackson is struggling a bit out of the gate. Perfect world all those guys hit, and probably Mitchell get dealt midseason for something else shiny and we enjoy the greatest Brewer OF of all time (oops sorry thought it was the optimism thread). Imperfect world you still have a number of those players hitting well, and playing great defense while covering more ABs with the 4th OF then you'd like.
  12. If there was that little on the farm for the Angels getting a solid rotation arm and another bullpen guy seems reasonable. It's not like those 2 prospects would turn the near future of the team around on their own. The only hope in the near term is to either spend their way out of the situation in the offseason or just let it all go. If that doesn't work I don't see Trout bring back enough in a trade either to do much for a rebuild..
  13. I would listen, but this seems more like something that would have to happen in the offseason. Right now it's hard to envision how this isn't waving the flag for the current season since he is easily our top bat in the line-up. Certainly by the end of the contract Yelich is probably a part time player, but with 5 years to go his bounce back alters the albatross potential. I do think there is value in having that face player.
  14. Does Freddy get to start the 7th?
  15. The double pushes Turang's July OPS up to just over .650 in 70 plate appearances, not Earth shattering but moving out of the black hole category and into OKish with the defense.
  16. Hopefully today marks the day Freddy finds himself again for the rest of the season.
  17. Well that got interesting, forcing them to use another pen arm at least something
  18. Regardless of how the last 2 games play out the Reds fan have to just be so torqued that they would be solidly owning the division if not for the games against us.
  19. Sure, but at his current pace Sal will break into the top in July of next year 😜
  20. Your top 4 are spot on for me, but Chris Saenz's debut has to go 5, certainly for those on Brewerfan at the time, it was this shot of energy game that signaled that farm system was really producing some players, and against a tough line-up. I'd Jenkins 6th since that game was closer and getting a couple of hits off Orel is a solid achievement in a debut.
  21. Probably not of course, but 4 of their last 5 losses have been by just a single run, so It's not that hard to imagine them having gone on a just absurd run with a little more offense.
  22. Got love winning a game in 2 and a half hours on get-away day as well.
  23. If Woodruff comes back and joins Burnes and Yeli parting like it's 2019 this could be a really fun fall.
