  1. Don't see them going with 13 pitchers in the playoffs. My guess is Perez makes it, don't think Black makes the division/NLCS roster. Albers has been pretty bad the entire second half, he is out again during the playoffs and Davies is in. Not sure what they do with Anderson, since there are so many lefties in the bullpen maybe they keep him around but just isn't any room. Like KeithStone said the Wild Card is a whole different story as they reset after that game and don't need a bunch of starting pitchers on the Wild Card roster.
  2. 6-5 could do it but guarantees nothing. Right now a 9-2 record guarantees at least a game 163.
  3. Still rooting for a bunch of Cubs and Cardinals losses. Washington is a secondary concern, if the Brewers keep on winning they have at least one of the Wild Card spots, the division and avoiding an elimination game should be the goal.
  4. Was looking at the latest Fangraphs odds and they don't even have the Brewers over .500 during this 13 game stretch against under .500 teams. 6.5 - 6.5 over the last 13.
  5. It will be interesting next year when players continue to go to/from the IL in September but for this year unless a guy is transferred to the 60 day IL there is really no reason to have anyone on the IL. Not even Yelich has been put on the IL.
  6. I don't really think the division is still in play if the Brewers only win 1 here. Could potentially gain three with 13 to play since the Brewers have such an easy schedule after this and the Cardinals are playing teams with something to play for, although Arizona is fading fast. Amazing to think this time last week the Brewers were 5 out and the season appeared lost but then they won three in a row to finish the weekend. Winning three this weekend would really make things interesting.
  7. Who would have thought that Suter of all people would be this season's version of 2018 Burnes? Suter. Me. Clancy for sure.
  8. Just so disappointing to happen when they are starting to make a run. Hoping for 2011 Braun, AAA Grisham and 2018 Cain to show up these final 18 games.
  9. Yeah I don't think anybody was advocating Orf at SS. Just right now there is pretty much no infield depth if Moose, Hiura and Arcia are all gone. Shaw/Spangenberg/Perez have to start and hope nobody gets hurt or ejected. If one of those happens then may grant the wish of some and finally see Braun in the infield again. The Brewers probably should bring in an infielder even if the player is from outside and wouldn't be eligible for the playoffs.
  10. Probably. But it's still worth a try. If he just throws it up and they call grounding the Cardinals get an untimes down to kick the game winning FG. I remember a couple of years ago when the Ravens held everybody at the end of the game to just run out the clock but the game wasn't extended because a foul by the offense does not extend play. Not sure the Lions would get an untimed down.
  11. I guess, at this point just activate Saladino and have him go to the 60 day IL and put Orf on the 40 man. Orf is then first to get DFA after the season but gets MLB pay for a few weeks and maybe another playoff share if he is lucky. It is not worth losing somebody on the 40 man for Orf though.
  12. It might actually be nice to have Taylor and Gamel on the 40 man next year as both can be optioned and both can play CF. Sure didn't look like Taylor would ever make the majors a couple years ago so good to see.
  13. Welcome and thanks for the info. Always nice to see stuff like this from somebody that watches a player on a regular basis.
  14. I am pretty sure no one is suggesting that unless you are looking at the first couple of pages when the trade first happened in 2018.
  15. At least good to see Gatewood keep on hitting. Weird format with 4 potential home games and 1 road.
  16. Since he has acquired zero MLB service time since 2012 it makes no difference at what age he "retires". This is just really weird that a player of his caliber gets a retirement ceremony 7 years since he last played. If this is a marketing ploy by the team, they could have picked a more well-known player. I highly doubt people were rushing to buy tickets to the game now that Bill Hall will be there. Heck, I bet half of the fans in the stadium have only been fans for a few years and will have no idea who he even is. Are you saying this because you have knowledge of how the MLB players pension works, or are you just making assumptions? My wife has the rare fortune of having a pension plan (defined benefit -entirely employer funded). She grandfathered into it before the company discontinued it for new employees. I know that for her plan if she quits at 62, but waits until 65 to start collecting, she gets more than if she collected right away at 62. Players do not start collecting their pension after they retire. He could not have officially retired at 32 and started collecting.
  17. Kind of random but I was scrolling through Twitter this weekend and Doug Russell from WTMJ got blasted by career minor leaguer Cody Decker for defending the Brewers making this trade, said Russell should punch himself in the face for thinking that and that the trade would haunt the Brewers forever. I don't have anything against Dubon but there have been some extreme opinions around him over the years, even going back to when Dubon was predicted to be the next Brewer to be inducteded into the Hall of Fame by ESPN.
  18. Contrary to others I am disappointed they lost him. It is not like the Brewers have a good farm system, would not have been difficult to get rid of somebody else with no options (looking at you Saladino) that has zero future with the Brewers. Obviously did not get far in waiver priority since the worst team in the league picked him up.
  19. May initially appear like strange timing but need 40 man space for Suter and Nelson.
  20. Just looking at the box score it doesn't look good for Burnes but he had a solid final three innings. Baby steps to build off of. Give him another start in the AA playoffs or even call him up since it doesn't look like the Brewers year anyways.
  21. I guess I would take Lyles over Anderson at this point as I doubt Lyles gets anywhere near $8.5 million like Anderson is set to get. Guarantee one year with a team option for a second. Just a stop gap with the hope that Burnes or Peralta could still turn it around as a starter.
  22. Do you actually believe if the Brewers thought he could help he would still be in the minors? I do, don't know why they would have traded for him and kept him on the 40 man all year if they didn't. It is not like he is a 22 year old developing in the minors, this guy is 30. Shouldn't have any guy in their 30s and on the 40 man if you don't think they can help the big league team.
  23. Amazing, a pitching change worked and it is Molina being the one that kills a rally.
  24. The Missions season likely ends the 2nd so if the Brewers really need somebody imagine he is called up this Sunday. Pretty much agree with Folly except think Wilkerson is gone to make room for Suter/Nelson. Also think Burnes is done for the year, start fresh next year. If they don't recall Williams might as well DFA him as well since he has no option next year and they don't think highly of him.
  25. They must play Roxanne by the Police tonight at Miller Park or I'll be bummed.
