  1. Howie Kendrick but the Nationals probably will think they still have a shot at the playoffs.
  2. Not sure if anybody noticed but Illinois signed a sports betting bill into law, doesn't look like it will be available for a few months but soon should be able to bet on Brewers/Bucks/Packers etc. legally without having to go to a place like Vegas.
  3. He has been available the last couple of years in the rule 5 draft without being selected so not thought of too highly. Doubt his career exceeds what Villar did in Milwaukee.
  4. I actually think there are quite a few that will still play in the big leagues this year for some team or added prior to become free agents. Includes: Devin Williams Angel Perdomo Jay Jackson Cory Spangenberg Alex Wilson
  5. Ok, not sure if you understood my post. If you log in every day and pay off what you spent the day before it's basically just like using cash or a debit card. Should really be the same discipline. No, definitely understood as noted in my first sentence. It is just that the majority won't do that logging in every day making payments. It works for you but leads to debt for many.
  6. Kind of bizarro world that this is what Twitter is getting mad at Michaels about when he is actually right. I can't stand the guy and he says a lot of dumb things but this is not it.
  7. It is unfortunate that there is now a strict trade deadline. I always found it interesting that guys could be traded all season long and would even see the occasional trade the last week of the season to make a start or two. Even worse if there isn't revocable waivers, at least then you could still see the occasional high priced veteran moving on to a different team. Gonzalez was a pretty nice addition last year, even Granderson. What I'm not real clear on is if non 40 man roster trades can be made. If there is an injury could somebody try to acquire a guy like Cory Spangenberg in August since he isn't on the 40 man?
  8. I'm guessing Hiura is still up tomorrow, starting Tuesday and Wednesday.
  9. Most people are not like you making payments during the month and having a good idea how much your monthly spend is on the card. For many I think paying cash is the way to go to stay out of credit card debt. If you can budget though the rewards on credit cards are real nice.
  10. Stephen A. Smith, Colin Cowherd and Skip Bayless would be impressed by the hotness of this take. People need to quit crying for jimmy Nelson like the world did him wrong. Nobody did. He got hurt. On a basic baseball play. Happens So now the major league team is stuck with a guy the rest of the year when he doesn’t belong here. Yet. Might as well bring Wang back too Nobody is crying for Nelson, I'm more annoyed by the poor roster management by the Brewers as noted by others. They could have sent him back down after the first outing or been a little more aggressive in getting his second start in sooner and then sending him down if he didn't make progress. The front office sure knew how close he was to five years, be better at roster management instead of asking a player to be optioned like a week after he gets his five years in.
  11. I have no recollection of him playing the outfield like Eric Thames ... Santana is on pace for an all-star season ... Gamel will never be on pace for that, I predict. I'm trying not to be snarky but how do you not have recollection of Santana being as bad as Thames defensively, he is a horrendous outfielder.
  12. Rasmussen with another rough outing in AA. To piggyback on the above comment and a previous one from Homer, I am still very high on him and the stuff is still there. Ultimately many of us have very similar opinions of him, it is very impressive that he has been able to move up all the way to AA in his first season of professional ball. I just think it was a little aggressive to think he would pitch in Milwaukee this year.
  13. His bat has still been great against lefties. Don't have to play him every day if they don't want, just a rental. Saw in the playoffs last year that lefties could be an issue, even incremental improvements potentially could get them over the hump.
  14. If you are coming from Appleton and don't want to get too far into the city I would suggest Mo's on Bluemound or Jackson's Blue Ribbon Pub. Both are right off the Bluemound exit less than a mile away.
  15. This lineup vs left handed pitchers could score some runs: Cain CF Yelich LF Braun 1B Grandal C Castellanos RF Moustakas 3B Hiura 2b Arcia SS
  16. Why not both in regards to Hiura? I guess they could trade Shaw as well but wouldn't mind if he stayed on the team still or at least option him and work on things. A left handed bat like Shaw's can still be very important down the stretch/playoffs.
  17. While the pitching has been brutal lately the lack of right handed hitting against lefties has also been a weakness for the Brewers. Left handed hitters are hitting above their norm against lefties while right handed hitters that should be hitting real well against the left handers have not done their fair share. I think Castellanos would be a real nice addition to this team and since he is a free agent after the year the Brewers should have the prospects to get him. He is a brutal defender no doubt but as usual he is hitting left handers well this year with a 302/392/535 slash. If the Brewers get a player of this caliber I don't have any doubt that Braun would be more than willing to move to 1B when Castellanos/Cain/Yelich are in the outfield. Maybe the Tigers would be interested in seeing if Aguilar could turn it around in Detroit as well since he has three more year of team control.
  18. Freitas is a journeyman but sometimes during the dog days of summer you just try to ride a hot bat for a couple of weeks to get out of a funk and maybe he could do that. Hiura is an obvious callup and really should have been done before this series but now that the Brewers are facing the right handed pitching heavy Reds maybe not this weekend and they give Shaw one last chance.
  19. It may be the way to go this year but would be hesitant to say that is his ceiling at 23. I thought Peralta could have been more of a relief ace down the stretch last year with his dominance of righties but it never really materialized. However, this year right handed hitters have hit Peralta rather well when starting but when in the bullpen Peralta is again dominant against them.
  20. My goodness I had no idea Ricky Nolasco is still playing.
  21. I will kind of miss the specialists that some teams add in September but I understand it because it is kind of odd to play with a different set of rules in September when teams are fighting for a playoff spot. Just a guess on my part but ever since the Brewers signed Wes Rogers to a minor league contract I felt the only reason they got him was to call him up in September to steal some bases with his over 200 career stolen bases and 86% success rate. Those kinds of guys you won't see in the future because of the limited spots.
  22. When I saw Biloxi won 6-0 I assumed Grisham hit another HR or two but sadly went 0-4. Starting to get excited that Devin Williams could be a key part of the Milwaukee bullpen down the road but will be a free agent if not added to the 40 man for next season.
  23. Good one, but since it was posted a year and a half ago probably wasn't.
  24. It doesn't matter what he says, his job is to get on base. He is a bad hitter and it may have been his best shot at getting on base plus it brought the tying run on deck. Probably worse that anybody got upset about losing a combined no hitter.
