  1. The White Sox added Kodi Medeiros today to their 40 man roster so no longer an option.
  2. Would not be surprised if Stearns still adds another player, by the end of the day either within the organization or by trading for a 40 man guy from another team that would otherwise be DFA.
  3. You are stating that like it is fact he will be a 825-850 OPS player but highly likely he is better than that.
  4. Should be an easy decision to make since Perry was a Thompson signing. Tough to see a 11 million cap hit next year in dead money but better than the nearly $15 million if he played and gives more flexibility in 2020. I have accepted that the Packers will not be going anywhere so excited for the higher draft pick and what they will do in the off season. This past draft gives me hope as well so I expect a nice bounce back season in 2019.
  5. I just don't see Kershaw pitching until he is 40 and the back issues he had had make me doubt he can even hit 250 like Sabathia.
  6. This is an award that definitely would have benefited Counsell if the voters were able to see how managers manage in the playoffs. Will be tough for Counsell to win this award now unless the Brewers take step backward and sticks around for the team to get better again.
  7. He will probably make close to Schoop like money for arbitration and hard to justify that with Santana on the team or being a 4th outfielder.
  8. I don't think it has happened that often but I do remember after R.A Dickey played for the Brewers minor leagues in 2007 he became a minor league free agent and signed with the Twins. The Seattle Mariners then selected him in the rule 5 draft.
  9. Czaben for a couple of hours would be a tough sell. It worked with Bob and Brian in the past because it is very comedic and they just have good chemistry. Olson and Czaben would be on together every now and then and I never thought it was very good.
  10. Good for him, always good to see a career minor leaguer getting a shot at the big league level.
  11. Zunino has power but very high strike out, similar to Keon Broxton. Had a great 2017 but hard to repeat with the high babip that year and his continued high strikeouts. I actually like Malex Smith a lot and think the Mariners did good here. Wish the Brewers got him as an outfielder that could play all three positions.
  12. Not sure when it happened but saw Baseball Reference has updated service times if you are curious where various Brewers are at.
  13. I used to do it all the time when I was younger and lived in the West Allis area. However, I have two young kids now and I would hate doing that walk late at night with two tired kids.
  14. Yes, they can drive hours to Milwaukee and be at the hotel and the baseball game at the same time. I only live a hour or so away in Madison but would love to go to a Saturday night game, sleep in Sunday and walk to the ballpark for the Sunday afternoon game.
  15. Yeah the continued mentioning of Burnes as a prospect just isn't correct. He has proved he can pitch at the big league level and succeed. At the very least he is a high leverage reliever and still can be a starter. In my opinion he has more value than Hiura. So to say Brinson/Harrison = Hiura/Burnes doesn't add up to me.
  16. 3, including this one.
  17. LOL, if And That gives the seal of approval I imagine quite a few other teams are looking at him as well. Not that I have any idea what Stearns is thinking but I think Olczak gets protected.
  18. The risk is one less player for the Brewers to protect in the rule 5 draft and maybe Stearns won't have the chance to make numerous waiver claims like he usually does. With a rule 5 player you can't pick him in the draft and DFA him a week later. He has to stay with the team until at least mid March. If the rule 5 player actually made it to say May then the Brewers likely released another player that had no options left.
  19. Yah, Taylor and Wren have very different skillsets. It's not a comparison where you can drop a few stats down and wonder why Wren isn't still here. Taylor is a premium athlete who plays a premium position (CF) well and is still just 24. For something completely different, Nelson/Suter/Vogt will all need to be activated from the 60-day DL by Friday at 4pm central. Safe to assume Nelson will stick on the 40-man, but the odds are certainly different for Suter and Vogt due to their injuries. Very true about the 60 day DL players, forgot about that. Besides the injury, one thing working against Suter is that if he was kept on the 40 man and put on the DL for all of 2019 he would be arbitration eligible for 2020. Unfortunately for Suter I think he will be removed from the 40 man.
  20. The Bucks have been an especially hard follow over the last few years, simply because they have had so much turnover. They'll acquire a guy, he'll be the "next big thing" for awhile, and they eventually give him away for pennies on the dollar. Or they draft a guy, don't play him, and he's gone in a few years. There's been no building or plan in place for so long ... much like the early 2000s Brewer teams. I used to follow the Bucks pretty closely, but seeing them draft guys like TJ Ford and Jennings, who showed so much promise, only to eventually give them away, really soured me. They make acquisitions like Knight and Michael Carter-Williams out to be exciting, then drop them. Greg Monroe ... Tim Thomas ... this team's recent history is littered with flashes in the pan. I hope Giannis isn't next, but the team's history doesn't give me much hope. Giannis is a superster and potential hall of famer. Still could leave after his contract is up but is on a different level than all those others.
  21. Taylor plays CF well, Wren does not. Taylor has shown he has some power, yes it was in Colorado but Wren was there a long time and never showed power.
  22. Well they have two spots open right now so I think it was a decent play by the Brewers. He was likely gone in free agency so at the very least this can get them to the rule 5 draft and then they can try to outright him off the 40 man if they need the space. If somebody claims him then they are in the same spot if they never added him to the 40 man.
  23. Villar doesn't bring much to the table so not a loss that he is gone nor that they put him on the bench. Would have been nice to get somebody better than Schoop but no reason to prolong the Villar experiment.
  24. Right, two of my bosses from my first job died before they hit 60. I have been more willing to take vacations and once in a lifetime opportunities since then because tomorrow isn't guaranteed. I still save quite a bit but will put some of my chips in the table now and then.
  25. I think Miller Park is under utilized so glad they added another concert even though I wouldn't go to see Sheeran. My sisters went and they never go to Brewers games, probably need to do better with the parking if they want people to come back to these type of events. Would like to see a stadium wrestling show in the summer like they did at County Stadium 30 years ago. Probably need to avoid October shows going forward.
