  1. I wouldn't say Profar does nothing for the Brewers. He would be cost controlled for two more years and could provide some insurance for Arcia if he struggles again this year.
  2. I'll agree with you there, just because maybe a few less deserving people make it doesn't make the experience there any less special. Been 15 years since I was last year and look forward to a couple of years when I can take my kids.
  3. Nothing new. There are a lot of guys who don't deserve to be in the HOF who are in. Rizzuto, Sutter, Mazeroski…..the latter being especially bad. Meanwhile they don't know what to do with guys who were no doubt HOF'ers like Clemens and Bonds before most assumed they started juicing. I don't know what the answer is, but the Hall of Fame needs figure out what the hell they're doing because it's always had deserving guys on the outside looking in and vice versa, but right now there's no real standard. You have to be wondering what a guy like Edgar Martinez is thinking watching someone like Harold Baines getting in to the HOF while he's not. Wouldn't upset Martinez, he will get voted in this year and if by some miracle the writers don't vote him in this year then this committee will let him in easily.
  4. Guerra has an option, I would put Houser over Albers for sure.
  5. This is bound to happen when only 16 people are voting.
  6. Correct, that was a Hammonds Special doing that. However, I am not going to blame the current GM for the bad contracts. Hopefully he puts the extra cap space to good use next year and not another bad contract.
  7. After what happened last January 25th I am not worried about the limited activity as of December 5th.
  8. Yuni isn't even really hated, he is basically loved by the internet and his various memes now. It will be hard for anybody on this 2018 team to be hated as it was such a fun season, it would have been nice if he did better but oh well. Plus he will always have that grand slam off Bumgarner.
  9. Good analysis Reilly, the instant reaction from the media and fans make it sound way worse than it is. Cano is still a risk at 5/60 but Diaz is certainly worth those prospects, 24 year old lights out reliever with four years control.
  10. It will be interesting to see what Stearns does now with 4 open roster spots and an additional one opening up during Spring Training when Suter goes on the 60 day DL. Anticipate a lot of waiver claims the next couple of months, especially if he finds a lefty with options.
  11. If what you say is true and he's been taking PEDs for 10 years and was only caught once, don't you think he would continue doing them instead of stopping? Up until he got busted, Cano's PED use would have only cost him the dollars necessary to obtain the PEDs. After he got busted, it was 12 million dollars straight out of his pocket. That seems like a pretty good deterrent. He also knows the next time he will get busted, it will be 24 million dollars straight out of his pocket. Good deterrent #2. I think there is a pretty good chance that if he was a chronic PED user, that he will no longer be using PEDs. I would tend to agree here. Now that he got busted and actually lost some money there is no reason to risk losing $120 million in his mid 30's. He might have previously continued to take PEDs to improve his Hall of Fame credentials but it doesn't really matter now that he has the PED label.
  12. Sure did, since they have Perez I don't know if he would make much sense but it kind of depends what they do with 2B. Could potentially start Flores at 2B.
  13. I don't think so, the fact is he did have a great 2017, is still young, it would only be a one year commitment and the Brewers need to bridge the gap until Hiura is ready. This isn't a no brainer decision, would be fine with either decision but it is a big one as it impacts the direction of the off season.
  14. Would rather not give up Hiura or Burnes, maybe check on Wheeler who can be every bit as good next year and would be cheaper since he has only a year of control.
  15. I might be in the minority here but I hope Stearns is kicking around the tires. Even if the Brewers lose him after one year they get a pick after the first round because they are a revenue sharing team, which would be equivalent to a Tristen Lutz type prospect. Paxton has a year more of control so don't think it would take a Sheffield type prospect that is in the top 50. Would be fine with anybody in our system going to the Giants as long as it is not Hiura.
  16. I mean Stearns acquired Kratz to be a secondary guy on a playoff team that nearly made the World Series. I would say there is at least a decent chance he will be the secondary guy going into Spring Training.
  17. I can't imagine a 2nd rounder is going to overcome a $20 million difference, would be great for the Bucks for sure. I like Brown but again he is a second rounder that bounces between the Bucks and G League, Wilson stinks.
  18. Why would a horrible team like the Cavs want to do that trade? It just commits them to more money over a longer time period.
  19. Fine with this but would have rather he signed a $300,000 minor league contract with the $1.2 million if he makes the team and put Jon Olczak on the 40 man.
  20. 1 Keston Hiura 2 Corey Ray 3 Brice Turang 4 Zack Brown 5 Tristen Lutz 6 Mauricio Dubon 7 Troy Stokes Jr 8 Jacob Nottingham 9 Trey Supak 10 Adrian Houser 11 Lucas Erceg 12 Mario Feliciano 13 Marcos Diplan 14 Aaron Ashby 15 Jake Gatewood 16 Joe Gray 17 Carlos Rodriguez 18 Trent Grisham 19 Je’Von Ward 20 Cody Ponce 21 Larry Ernesto 22 Jon Olczak 23 Payton Henry 24 Braden Webb 25 Tyrone Taylor 26 Chad McClanahan 27 Caden Lemons 28 Joantgel Segovia 29 Micah Bello 30 Eddie Silva 31 QTC 32 Alex Hall
  21. Will Carroll, who I follow on Twitter, made a rather vague Brewers tweet a couple of days ago: Absolutely no idea what the Brewers are thinking. None. When questioned he followed it up with: Sometimes you have to give a wake up call. If I was still an active journalist, I’d have a story. Now those that follow Carroll know he isn't exactly one to break free agents signing, non tenders or what not. His handle is injuryexpert and he tweets often about injuries. Just curious if anybody else here has inside information or what he could possible be talking about. Is it concerning an injured player like Nelson or Suter? Seems like it could be a big story if one of the guys covering the Brewers did some digging.
  22. It was done a couple of days ago, not Thanksgiving. Would pass on Dietrich.
  23. QTC would be similar to Dubon after his injury, if QTC was added by the Brewers he wouldn't be put on the 60 day DL but would still be taking up a precious 40 man spot all season. All off-season he would take up a spot. Once the season starts he would be put on the 60 day DL. No, the Brewers have shown they won't do that.
  24. QTC would be similar to Dubon after his injury, if QTC was added by the Brewers he wouldn't be put on the 60 day DL but would still be taking up a precious 40 man spot all season.
