  1. The Brewers are 10-7 against the AL Central. Not exactly beating up on them. They have the best record in the NL. I'm personally not scared of anyone and I'm sure the guys aren't either. Keep playing well and the playoffs should be in sight. 10/17 = .588 = 94 wins 68 losses Which is slightly worse than what the Brewers are doing against everybody else. As a whole they are beating up on everybody.
  2. If you run across an active freeway and manage to not get hit by traffic it doesn't mean you made the right decision... In some cases that may be true but Phillips is no more deserving than Broxton so the Brewers needed some luck for either of them to be difference makers and Broxton has been that guy. Hasn't been too impressive offensively except for that one game but his defense has been great in this small sample. Phillips had his chance this year to capitalize on an opportunity and wasn't able to do it. Didn't have much of an opportunity but Phillips didn't take advantage of it while Broxton has.
  3. I know that no corresponding move has been made yet but what is the holdup with putting Nick Franklin on the 60 day DL? He was injured May 8th so even if he started a minor league rehab assignment today he will hit 60 days.
  4. While I think the value of Ramirez hitting can be overstated I do think there would have been some value this past weekend where they had a very thin bench and few pinch hitting options. They have to make a decision on Ramirez again after the season since he is a free agent so it appeared like the perfect time to at least take a look at him. They then could have either optioned him or DFA him when Miley was ready. Ramirez needs to look elsewhere if he doesn't get a shot at the majors in 2018.
  5. When they only have 7 bullpen guys like they have now I would rather they keep a guy like Houser who has shown he has the stuff in his time in the majors. Puts the team in a bad position when 2 of the 7 are lefties that Counsell can't have any confidence in.
  6. Yeah, last night was reason enough to keep him around. Based on his minor league numbers he won't be able to keep it up because of his strikeouts but if he plays decent the rest of the way would be a cheap 4th OF in 2019. Due to his time in the minors he won't get super 2 arbitration in 2019.
  7. I do think it could take a decent prospect like Burnes to get Dietrich because of the additional two years of control. Would certainly make Santana even less valuable however unless the Brewers really think Dietrich can play 2B everyday. Also do think the probability of a career year is high and regression in 2019.
  8. Broxton is being called up and Cain to the DL.
  9. I have an extra bullpen car after taking my kids last week. Throwing it out there if anybody has an extra Captain America, Braun Solo or Cinco De Mayo Chorizo. Live in Madison area but in Milwaukee every couple weeks or so.
  10. I am hopeful putting Miller at SS never needs to be done. Miller is better than Sogard and Sogard should be gone first but I fully expect Miller to be below average offensively like much of the middle infield has been, a left handed hitting Perez that walks more.
  11. Keston Hiura has gone from 48 to 32 in the latest MLB Pipeline top 100. http://m.mlb.com/prospects/2018
  12. Also, the way Realmuto has played this year I can't see their asking price going lower by this trade deadline. If they are not getting what they want by trade deadline 2019 then they might start feeling the pressure.
  13. Brinson has had a real nice month of June thus far so maybe he is turning it around somewhat. Defense has also been real good. I would still make the trade but Brinson can still have a long, solid career.
  14. Nelson did mention a couple of days ago he is working toward throwing 150 ft on flat ground. So nobody does know for sure if he will pitch again this year but we do know he is a long ways away. I would think at least a couple of months to pitch on flat ground, then the mound, then rehab starts to work his way back up.
  15. I look forward to when Peralta starts however I do wonder what their plans are with him. If he somehow secured a starting spot in the Brewers rotation he would surely hit an innings limit at some point.
  16. Opens up a 40 man spot when Miley returns as well since he is on the 60 day DL right now.
  17. I can't see the Brewers making a move for Machado as a stand alone move because if they go for Machado they are trying to win a World Series this year. I would think they would also look to upgrade catcher and starting pitching if they go after Machado.
  18. I like the analysis but since the Orioles would get a Comp A pick when Machado leaves does that have to play into the return? Sure, Burnes is worth more than a Comp A pick but is there less incentive for the Orioles to trade him and thus more of a return needed?
  19. Brad Miller continues to show he isn't the present or future at SS. Glad they sent him to AAA to prove how horrible he is there. I actually would love if the Brewers give up any hope of him playing SS and just have Miller replace Sogard on the roster. The Brewers can just do what they did yesterday with Perez at SS until/if they get an actual upgrade at SS.
  20. Lopez will probably go down Tuesday for the 5th starter but wouldn't surprise me if it is Logan.
  21. I agree that the Brewers sent Miller to AAA to see if he can handle AAA. However, I think he could still just end up being Villar's backup/utility guy because they are trying to see if he can handle SS and the possibility exists that they determine he can't. If they knew he could handle SS he would be up already.
  22. Also keep in mind that Archer is on the DL and not expected to pitch again this month and maybe through the All-Star break. Don't know if the Rays can get what they want this trade deadline.
  23. According to the box score, 2 errors.
  24. No, if the Brewers are in it in September and Hiura is hitting well I would love to have him as an extra bat. Sure it makes the 40 man roster crunch worse but sometimes you pay that price to be good.
  25. For the way the Cubs have handled the Brewers thus far I am surprisingly confident the Brewers score early and often tonight.
