The Brewers post season success is pretty sad but if I was putting together a list I would probably put Mike Caldwell in as a SP since he did win two of the three World Series games the Brewers have won in franchise history including a complete game shutout.
Yeah......no. Curios why anybody would ever think the Brewers would have as much money to spend as anyone since there is no salary cap and the Brewers will always be a small market.
My expectations were probably higher than they should have been for him as I kept on hearing from some people that he should rise fast and could even be with the Brewers by sometime in 2018. That obviously hasn't happened and the injuries have hurt. I do realize he has only played professionally for less than two years and still have hope that things will click but don't consider him a top ten prospect for the Brewers at this point.
A guy that didn't make it here in Milwaukee that I thought would take over for Molitor and Yount was Gary Sheffield. Ended up with a 695 OPS here and over 900 everywhere else.
I'm with you, I think it added to the experience of the game to try a beer or two when I went to the game this year. I really enjoy having a beer at the game on a nice summer night, more so than getting one at a restaurant or drinking one at home.
Two wild cards, the more shots at a World Series the better. Will take two shots at winning 12 games vs one shot at winning 11. Sure it would stink to end up like the Pirates but that is the risk I would be willing to make.
Walker doesn't seem to play outfield much at all and his ceiling is probably what Aguilar did this year so would rather stick with the guy that actually proved it in the majors. I know Aguilar's stats from 2016 were mentioned but Walker had OPS of 763/748/757 his previous three years in AAA and then had his breakout in Reno this year. Not buying it.
Players had a 34/41 success rate against Bandy so the defensive upgrade isn't there which would leave me to believe they stick with Vogt even if it is an overpay.
Reed was removed from the 40 man in July so he isn't a potential removal, can't see him being added back either. I think you can factor in relievers because there is usually a non roster invitee or two that makes the 25 man roster. I could easily see Peralta/Diplan added and Webb/Torres removed without another AAAA type player added to the 40 man in the off season. They will probably look to replace Drake though with a real left handed reliever.
Pina, as well as Hader, made the Baseball America All Rookie Team. http://www.baseballamerica.com/majors/2017-major-league-rookie-team/#CmeeylMui8d0Jhox#U0ujRxgKyQylRHQ3.97
In baseball terms it was his age 24 season so when people say he put up certain stats this season as a 24 year old they are just using a common cutoff used by many including baseball reference. Next season he will be 25 even though he is already 25 right now.
Drake, Torres, Garza, Walker, Berry, Susac, Webb. I think your reasoning for Walker makes perfect sense, just because they have the money doesn't mean they will and I don't think they will.
They actually only need 1, Dodgers have 102 wins and Indians 100. The Dodgers beat the Indians head to head this year. However, the Dodgers pitching depth is good enough to beat the Rockies a couple of times.
Interesting how things come full circle as the debate with Jeffress being a starter or reliever was happening maybe 6-7 years ago. Maybe him a shot in spring training and see what happens.
Would wish the results were a little better right now but I am glad he is on this team for the next 12 games. No matter how bad he has been with RISP this year I am confident he will deliver down the stretch. He gets to play against the Pirates, Cubs and Cardinals down the stretch so there should be some good moments with him.
