  1. Carter isn't available as he signed with the Angels.
  2. Things can change if trades happen. I don't think the team could take Santana out of the lineup and still have one of Thames/Braun sit every day.
  3. When did Santana, Shaw, and Knebel become whatever it is you're saying they are?? Well they did prove it at the big league level and Mejia is just a prospect. When dealing with established players it is the established player for multiple prospects not the other way around.
  4. It is nowhere near an extra option since a player with an option can't be claimed and Guerra can. Does signal that the Brewers would like him to stay in the organization if he doesn't make the big league team. Would certainly like him as starting depth in the minors if he doesn't make the team.
  5. An option wouldn't really matter with Pina because if the Brewers wanted an upgrade at the position they would just keep the cheap backup in Pina. If they want to pick up a serviceable catcher to be a backup then Pina is going to be the main starter. There isn't a scenario where an option comes into play unless Pina really struggled the first couple months of 2018 but that doesn't impact opening day and how the roster will be constructed to start the year. How a player performed the previous year does matter, especially when they can get production out of a minimum wage player.
  6. On the list of agents for players signed Joshua Kusnick was not the agent for Lorenzo Cain as he has talked about being fired by him
  7. If Santana is traded I think it would be a rather poor decision to keep Phillips in the minors when trying to compete, weakens the bench and they are back to playing Perez a bunch in right. Phillips would have to be in the minors 2 months+ to gain a year of control as well.
  8. If it was a lesser deal they could certainly option him and use him as depth. Not sure a trip to Colorado would be the best approach however.
  9. Not a bad gig, play minor league ball all summer and 1 month in the bigs with a shot at a playoff share. Don't know how much longer he can do this though being 33, Davis should get his shot soon enough.
  10. http://albethke.blogspot.com/ I can only be heard on Al's Rambling's now. The HH19 Twitter's out there are all fakes. So is that blog just some random right-wing guy posting things from twitter about Trump? Where's the baseball info? Yeah I mentioned HH19 was giving info there yesterday but didn't include a link as it is very political. There can be a couple of posts about the Brewers and then a few on Trump so posters here should be aware of that. If you have been on Brewerfan for 10-15 years you know Al certainly leaned right.
  11. I do not agree with that, he will be 36 when he is done with the Brewers and I believe his bat will still play just not for the Brewers. To answer the original question I can't see a scenario where he is traded this year as three years is still to long. Could see it happening by 2020 if they both realize he can't play outfield or 1B on a regular basis but still can hit.
  12. If you are still interested to see what HH19 has to say he is giving info to former poster RamblingAl at his blog. Turning their attention to Arrieta and Cobb per the blog.
  13. Yes, I would think the whole system needs to be revamped with everybody understanding analytics much better. The old way of paying peanuts the first 6 years and then overpaying in the free agent years and beyond isn't really going to work anymore. Having to play six or seven seasons in the majors plus however many years in the minors before hitting free agency is ridiculous. The number of years a team can keep you in the minors and number of years before free agency really needs to be reduced.
  14. I really don't think Bundy is an upgrade over Woodruff so wouldn't even bother with him since I think the Brewers are looking to add a SP but somebody toward the front end of the rotation vs the back end. Schoop would be a great add at 2B but don't know if the pieces fit with Santana as the Orioles outfield seems kind of set and they have Trumbo at DH for a couple of more years. Edit: It looks like the Orioles might not be ready to hand over a job to Austin Hays so I guess they could keep him in the minors one more year and it is the final year of Adams Jones contract. So Santana in right could work for the Orioles.
  15. Yes, it could be a black hole at catcher if it wasn't the real Pina last year, and I am not a big fan of Vogt. I do wonder if Lucroy is looking for a long term deal or a 1 year deal to reestablish his value. I'm not sure he can get more than the 2/15 that Wellington Castilla received.
  16. Smooth Absolutely nothing wrong with that comment. Except for the use of literally. I agree that it is odd to be so offended by a rather tame statement. High Heat's comments are starting to be noticed quite a bit outside brewerfan.net though.
  17. Can this forum handle all of the guests that will be logging in here at 9?
  18. We all have opinions on movies but yes Disney has done a great job. All three movies have been successful financially and critically. Sure some don't like it but it doesn't really matter because the vast majority do.
  19. Thanks Bro, PM sent.
  20. I feel as though we need to have a sticked post to note this: BrewerWorld is a parody account. Not serious. Don't take the account seriously. Take my word fwiw, but I know who runs it and it’s definitely not to be taken serious at all. They just post recycled news to build hype. Basically playing on all our need for rumor news, so if they post the freshest stuff people confuse accuracy with excitement. I would tend to agree with you but what's the deal with knowing Johnsonville was taking over the day before it was announced and that Cain was going to sign a 5 year deal.
  21. Have to say that sign pointing has always looked so silly and goofy to me no matter who does it, wish they would stop doing it.
  22. It sure does seem like there will be room on the 40 man after Spring Training since as you stated they have three catchers battling for two spots and with the signing of Albers it doesn't look like even two of Guerra/Drake/Gallardo can make this team unless there is another injury. Nelson might not even have to go to the 60 day DL.
  23. LOL, I have been there and it is filled with scum and villiany.
  24. Well they added an old fart's committee this year that added a couple of guys from the 70's/80's. We'll see if it continues.
  25. They have to make a move but it doesn't have to be one player. The Brewers today indicated Braun may play first so it could be Santana/Thames/Aguilar or a combination that is traded. I would love to see Santana stay and have Cain/Yelich/Braun/Shaw/Santana at the top of the lineup.
