  1. I think it is a problem because it doesn't really matter if there are fringy players on the 25 man if there are 20 minor leaguers that they like. In that case they are leaving at least 5 unprotected since at most there are only 15 minor leaguers on the 40 man during the season and usually less. Edit: I added Diplan, Houser, Peralta, Nottingham and Dubon to your initial list to get to 20 in this example. There are other minor league types like Webb, Wang, Lopez, Wilkerson, Williams that they would also have to DFA/trade/promote to the majors to get to the 15 minor leaguer max.
  2. All aces are #1 pitchers but not all #1 pitchers are aces. I think Nelson pitched like an ace for a period of time last year but wouldn't call him an ace. After his injury I wouldn't label him anything until he shows what kind of pitcher he is.
  3. A mid 3 ERA start as a #3? A mid 3 ERA starter is an ace. The way people still treat pitchers like this is 1986 is amazing. Mid 3's is Jimmy Nelson. Is he an ace? He wad last year yes, have to do it consistently to be an ace.
  4. Breakout: Luis Ortiz/Trent Grisham Bounce back: Marcos Diplan/Demi Orimoloye Bust: Jorge Lopez/Corey Ray Sleeper: Carlos Herrera/Gabriel Garcia Step back: Freddy Peralta/Monte Harrison
  5. Baker has been designated for assignment.
  6. Probably the reason Luke made that Matrix style move to avoid Kylo's lightsaber since Kylo would realize Luke wasn't there once the lightsabers were supposed to make contact.
  7. Hammonds signed December 2000 so quite a bit longer than a decade.
  8. Just saying but 6-7 years ago we saw some here saying the same thing about Dillard, Cody and Butler and that obviously would have never been true.
  9. Since Peralta's debut. Innings: 704.2 Peralta - 649 Chacin K%: 16.7 Peralta - 16.8 Chacin BB%: 8.4 Peralta - 8.9 Chacin HR/9: 1.09 Peralta - .89 Chacin LOB%: 71.0 Peralta - 72.5 Chacin GB%: 51.2 Peralta - 46.6 Chacin ERA: 4.48 Peralta - 4.15 Chacin FIP: 4.42 Peralta - 4.21 Chacin Soft Contact%: 18.1 Peralta - 17.4 Chacin Medium Contact%: 51.7 Peralta - 50.6 Chacin Hard Contact%: 30.5 Peralta - 32.0 Chacin Line Drive%: 20.7 Peralta - 22.0 Chacin And yes I'm fully aware that Peralta has been trending down and was beyond terrible last year. There is no need to point that out to me. My thing is we shouldn't be giving multi-year, 8 figure contracts to pitchers that are basically Peralta in his career here. If you want innings, just sign guys like Gallardo or Milone last year for next to nothing on one year commitments. Except he's not Peralta. He's been far superior to Peralta. Wily had a good 2014 and he's been below average every year before and after. Production matters. Final results matter. And Chacin has been above average while Wily has been below average. That's an indisputable fact. I don't think the Chacin and Peralta comparisons are good because Chacin was obviously a very good pitcher from 2010-2013. Then in 2014 he had the shoulder injury and was not the same until he started producing around June of 2017. I can see somebody being skeptical because his stuff isn't the same since his injury and has only been good for a couple of months since but Chacin was much better for much longer than Peralta so comparing careers doesn't make much sense.
  10. Agreed. We were never getting a top notch pitcher on a one year deal. I'd rather go this route than pay a Lynn/Cobb anywhere near their asking price. I wouldn't say this completely closes the door on a big trade for Archer, but making that move likely means Hader to the pen...which would be nothing short of disappointing. I wouldn't say it closes the door on Archer but I don't know if it ever was very likely. If they went after Archer they could always include Woodruff in the deal.
  11. Why would they reference it?
  12. I only had the players I did in mine because if they’re looking at s 2020-2022 window, those prospects would fit that better. If they did take on those prospect I listed out, even if we had to add one more, we could then use Brinson to target a TOR type pitcher. Then we would really have something. Yeah that is good thinking but none are really stud low level prospects with the highest being Ray who is on a downward slope. Probably would have to add top prospects Harrison and Hiura if you go that route. I mean the Brewers would be getting a real good CF and C with 5 and 3 years of control.
  13. Kylo's story did not contradict Force Awakens, her parents left on a ship on Force Awakens and Kylo said they sold her so they could leve Jakku.
  14. I'm with you here. If the Brewers got Brinson for Lucroy there is no reason the Marlins can't do the same here, nobody in this Brewers system would be off limits. I also think the Brewers value Pina but don't know what his value is in trade.
  15. Yeah if they cut out the casino land stuff and just found the Benicio Del Toro character on board or picked him up real quickly it could have made it a crisper two hour movie. I don't necessarily mind that they didn't accomplish their mission as it is nice to see failure every once in a while instead of being predictable but it took too long and didn't need the preaching. Overall I enjoyed it quite a bit though. Anything with Rey/Luke/Kylo kept me intrigued and hope Luke is back next movie as it that is pretty much all they got at this point especially with Carrie Fisher no longer with us and Snoke/Captain Phasma/Admiral Holdo out of the picture.
  16. Agreed on both points. Drafting 19th with the associated pool money does not help bring in those 60 grade players. I'm getting really damn sick and tired of reading about people hoping to tank in 2018. Stop thinking like this team lost 100 games last season. Well at some point you have to look to see what the Brewers have done to get better. Signing Gallardo as a single transaction isn't anything to get worked up about but considering they have not done anything else there is no indication they will be improving. If they stand pat, especially in the pitching department, they will most likely be worse just on the fact that Nelson won't be back for months if at all in 2018.
  17. Glad to see Angel Ventura is back, really intrigued to see how he does this year.
  18. No Brewers taken in the major league portion of the draft so Devin Williams and everybody else is still a Brewer.
  19. He hasn't really since becoming GM so until he starts changing his approach I assume he won't. I think he is open to making larger moves but he isn't going to force it.
  20. I don't think you are necessarily in the minority because I never really cared about promotions when single except for the 50% off tickets for the five county area. Now one of the promotions mentioned previously is free food for kids on Sunday and saving money is always a draw. I have a couple of kids and it is nice not to have to pay ballpark prices for the one hot dog they will each eat and a couple innings later they get the ice cream.
  21. It is just easier for families to get to Saturday and Sunday games and Saturday will always have good attendance even without the promotion so they load up on Sunday. Logistically it just makes sense to have something like the base run on Sunday as lines are always huge and the Brewers want to get the fans out of the stadium and parking lot ASAP during night games. The Brewers do always seem to have special ticket promotions like the Star Wars bobble on a non Sunday.
  22. They were two of his teammates that had a chance to vote and influence the rest of the voters, it still didn't happen.
  23. I don't think Simmons ever gets in now since Yount and Sutton consisted of two of the 16 or so people voting.
  24. Stephen Vogt His hit tool is still around a 45. Nottingham at 30 is about a 220 hitter.
  25. Thanks for the link, a nice read on my lunch break.
