  1. They didn't want to pay Houser a major league salary to do nothing and lose service time in the process.
  2. Hopefully Brinson gets a start today. Phillips has looked overmatched in his short time here and being young hopefully can improve on that more in the minors. Broxton is a stikeout machine as well but being older I don't mind seeing him transitioned to the 4th outfielder and seeing what Brinson can do.
  3. Even if Villar doesn't go on the DL one of these 9 guys needs to go because Villar still won't likely play. Dealing with a 3 man bench for a couple of days is asking too much and puts the team in a bad spot.
  4. Phillips back up, Shaw has a medical emergency. Hopefully everything is okay with Shaw and his family.
  5. All I saw initially was UPDATE:Peralta DFA, figured Wily was gone.
  6. I doubt they would call him up this early if he was making Garza's next start, would think they would have called up a Cravy type for a few days.
  7. My thoughts exactly! Came on here to say the same thing. I don't understand why they insist on multiple innings from him. Of course today that made sense with the short start, but they do it all the time. Why bother making him the long man? Yep and without looking up all his appearances from the pen I'd be willing to guess most if not all his runs have come in the second inning of work. Just put him as the 6th or 7th inning man and see if you have something with him. Doing what they are doing is just dumb. Pretty close, he has given up a run in 4 of his 6 relief outings this year. Three of the four times he gave up a run it was in his second inning of work.
  8. I guess I can see the logic in not adding Woodruff because if he pitches a game and sent down he burns an option. If he just stays in the minors he will have all three options next year. However, if Woodruff ends up being decent options shouldn't really be an issue with him anyway. Should be interesting to see who they go with on Tuesday, could be Espino again, maybe Jungmann or the longshot a young guy like Woodruff/Hader.
  9. Nice to see Nottingham turn it around a bit but it appears he had some sort of ankle injury last night.
  10. I like Hughes too but when he is bad he is real bad. Really needs to avoid the types of games he had against the Cubs and Dodgers.
  11. I do wonder if Torres really does need a stint on the DL, he has 30 appearances already which leads the league. The bad news is he is tied with Knebel and Barnes at 30, which does not bode well for the bullpen's future.
  12. What are you talking about? You said basically, get rid of anyone who isnt getting the job done. Churn out some more to cycle through. I pointed out hey, Knebel was pretty bad last year, what if we had showed that kind of patience with him? Explain to me how in the world is that apples to oranges? If you cannot see the relevance there than you are completely missing my point. You cannot just throw in the towel on anyone who isnt good for a short time. That's what I was saying. They did, he was optioned last year. Unforunately the current guys don't so they will have to DFA them.
  13. I go there once in a while to see Wisconsin play there but I like the Madison Mallards stadium a lot better. Surprised a minor league stadium can be so dumpy
  14. If anything Franklin shows how valuable a guy like Perez is and how Perez is underrated by many. He plays a number of positions well and will give you an OPS around 750, that is valuable on any team. Franklin is versatile but not all that great defensively and can't really hit.
  15. With the timing was this a prediction or inside info?
  16. I doubt this would ever happen but isn't that potentially why a deal could happen. The Brewers get a proven controllable player for a five more years and the Marlins get an outfield prospect or two. They might even take Broxton in return since he is a cheap CF but doesn't have the track record of Yelich.
  17. This should help you, posted May 25th -- AUDIO via Tuesday's Sky Sox Pre-Game: RHP Michael Blazek Good link, for those that don't want to or can't listen in short he says he doesn't really know, just doing what they tell him to do and hopefully it opens up a door to either start or relieve at the big league level. He certainly has been effective, in 22 innings starting he has his ERA under 1 and has a strikeout an inning.
  18. Barnes would not qualify, probably Pina.
  19. I followed that account for a while but don't give it much credibility. If it is correct though I wouldn't expect anything until after the game today against the Mets.
  20. It didn't work out yesterday but I like Peralta as a reliever thus far and want to see it play out. Guys have hit Drake pretty hard all year, even in April when his ERA was good they still had an OPS of 850 against him. It is just now the hard hits are catching up to him and impacting his ERA. I would actually like Suter back up as a lefty, Wang's results have been good thus far but not necessary to bring up yet and add him to the 40 man.
  21. I like my fair share of beer but do agree it wasn't well thought out. Thames is already one of the more popular Brewers and his beard is one of his most distinctive features. Changing it from beard to beerd is just kind of lame in my opinion and is somebody trying to overthink something when there was already a good idea.
  22. I am actually looking forward to see what they do with Mijal. Orton with the belt did nobody any good. I agree Mijal probably loses it to Styles or somebody else after MITB but he might surprise. He certainly looks much bigger which in a way makes it more believable he is heavyweight champ.
  23. I know Astin made it to the majors from that 2013 draft but would be nice if Archer actually made it to the Brewers to make that draft look slightly better.
  24. It seems like whenever the Brewers give Blazek chances to start games he starts pitching better.
  25. I have seen about enough of Scahill. His ERA looks okay with the Brewers but his secondary numbers are not very good. Really don't know how he has gotten so many opportunities in the majors as his AAA numbers for his career are pretty bad., lifetime WHIP of nearly 1.5 and AAA ERA of nearly 5. If they don't see a future with Espino in the rotation wouldn't mind him getting a look in the bullpen after the 10 days are up, would even prefer Cravy over Scahill.
