Never liked the phrase all in when it comes to managing a roster. If he really means all in then he is willing to trade whatever prospects are necessary to win now. Please don't trade Jimmy Nelson.
That is perfectly said, a trade for a guy like Alonso is made last year where they play him every day the rest of the year. If they make a move for a left handed hitting first baseman or bench it is to improve their chances this year to help them go deep in the playoffs.
Huh? In his MLB career, 1001 PAs against RHP and has the following line: .279/.344/.405, 21 HR, 107 RBI. Yeah, that isn't that great. There are plenty of left handers that crush right handed pitching. The previously mentioned Morris is better.
I don't think that type of guy adds much value this year. He could be a potential option as an everyday player in the future because he doesn't have a huge gap in splits. Even in the minors his splits against righties wasn't that great. Would rather just stick with Reynolds and go after a better left handed hitter against righties.
I kind of follow the Jays and he was a fringe prospect there for a number of years and was drafted a couple of times by them but wanted to stay in school. When he had his chances in the bigs he didn't do much. He has a fastball in the upper 80's, decent curveball and changeup with an odd delivery. Could be a cheap lefty in the pen for some team down the road. Don't really know if he has options left but if Gorz and Duke leave and Smith gets a shot in the rotation the Brewers might be looking for a lefty so maybe could have an opportunity next spring training? Edit: Saw he has a June 15th opt out date, so with the year he is having might get a shot with another MLB team this season still.
I don't think so. I believe it is stating that the Brewers have to pay him $1 million if they decline the option and he was able to obtain 400 plate appearances in 2014. If he doesn't obtain 400 plate appearances the Brewers can decline the option and be done with him at no additional cost.
Shackelford is having a pretty bad year and was demoted. He is on the 40 man as well. Otherwise, I agree it has been a good pitching year all around for the Brewers organization. Edit: Also forgot about Blazek, another guy on the 40 man that has been brutal.
I would be perfectly fine with them taking Embiid with the pick. There are a lot of people on the radio saying they want the Cavs to take Embiid so the Bucks are not tempted but I disagree. Take the guy that has the chance to be the franchise type player that can lead you to a championship. I think Embiid could be that player, while Parker and Wiggins seem like potential All Starts I don't know if I see franchise player. Embiid could be a bust but if your goal is to win championships they should go for it.
I think putting Gallardo on the DL is the right move then you don't deplete the bullpen or the bench. Gallardo would then only lose one more start and the Brewers could bring up an extra reliever or bench help after Nelson's second start as well for a few days.
I get what you are saying but if the Brewers get Joyce or somebody else it may look like a platoon at times but Davis will still get his fair share of starts against righties. Braun seems to always have nagging injuries at this point and will take a number of days off during the rest of the year. It would just seem that the team would be much better to have a guy like Davis/Joyce/somebody else as the extra outfielder instead of Herrera or even a Gindl. Same thing when Ramirez is hurt would seem better to have Green playing instead of Overbay or Bianchi. Just small things like that would make the team better.
1. Jimmy Nelson 2. Michael Reed 3. Tyrone Taylor 4. Clint Coulter 5. Orlando Arcia 6. Mitch Haniger 7. Hunter Morris 8. Devin Williams 9. Nick Delmonico 10. Victor Roache 11. Ariel Pena 12. Taylor Jungman 13. Jason Rogers 14. Tucker Neuhaus 15. Damien Magnifico 16. Jed Bradley 17. Jose Pena 18. Tyler Cravy 19. David Goforth 20. Brooks Hall
Random Brewers news but was looking at the probables for the Miami series and see that Randy Wolf will be starting. Good news as Gallardo is scheduled the same day and his status is certainly up in the air. Also, didn't realize this until today but this Monday will be the first time JJ Hardy has faced the Brewers. With interleague play would have certainly thought he would have played the Brewers by now.
I think we have seen from Nelson last year and Hamilton this year that Block is much better when paired with somebody else. Hamilton and Nelson may not be great but it would be great if one of them was paired with Block all the time.
Just to make it clear since many are mentioning it they can't just offer him to Pittsburgh, every MLB team will have a chance to get Wang. If the Brewers want to trade him they are better off trying to trade him to a bad team willing to keep Wang.
I was watching the Rays yesterday and I think Matt Joyce would be a decent pickup, could platoon him with Davis and have a 850 - 900 OPS player in left field every game. I guess the Rays wanted Ike Davis for Joyce in the off season but the Mets rejected so maybe would not take much with the Rays season going downhill.
