  1. I don't think he would necessarily blow the pick, he has actually done pretty well drafting but every GM has their Joe Alexander moment. It is managing the roster, salary cap and developing the younger players that I have a problem with. He drafted Giannis but made some pretty bad signings in Mayo/Zaza/Neal/Delfino. Do give him credit for not signing Jennings to a long term deal and getting two young players in return in Knight and Middleton.
  2. Pretty shocking that ESPN has the lowest projections. I will go with 318/384/574 with more trips to the DL and days off than usual.
  3. Well it started happening in 2008 so he was with the Brewers a couple of more years after that. Hard to blame the Brewers though as I doubt they have somebody that specializes in epilepsy but kind of odd that another doctor couldn't get him a correct prescription prior to 2013. Can't even imagine going to bed at night knowing that you probably are going to have a seizure in the morning.
  4. Obvious small sample but walked 3 and struck out 11 without allowing a run or extra base hit in 9.1 innings after he rejoined the Blue Jays after the diagnosis. Now that he has been told he will be a bullpen guy I think he definitely still has closer potential. With Janssen hitting free agency after the season Jeffress has a nice opportunity.
  5. Interesting that it is from September and nobody noticed until now. Hopefully that helps him turn the corner as he was dominant in his brief time with the Blue Jays. Would be cool to see him when the Blue Jays come to Miller Park in August.
  6. Correct, Francisco traditionally was not good at taking walks but maybe he figured out something with the Brewers last year because he had basically the same average and OBP as Reynolds last year.
  7. I wasn't a big fan of his when he was starting but isn't Cody Ransom still out there? He could always hit lefties so could platoon with Gennett if they somehow got rid of Weeks and would be a better option off the bench than Bianchi even if Weeks stuck around.
  8. I think the Orioles and the Pirates among others will give in before the draft. However, like I indicated in a different thread I just don't think he is worth the risk trying to have him play first base every single game. I mean it is annoying seeing what Ramirez goes through, can only imagine a couple of seasons of Morales and the number of days off and the trips to the DL for him.
  9. Franklin actually is a decent guy to target versus the Davis/Smoak/Ackley's of the world. He would provide some roster flexibility that the Brewers could certainly use and if not 3B does provide a decent option if Gennett falters. They could maybe get rid of Bianchi as well since Franklin could play short. Don't really like trading away Davis and don't really know what it would take but Ramirez at first and Franklin at third sounds more appealing than most of the names suggested at first the last few months. Maybe the Mariners would have interest in Estrada.
  10. Morales should really only be a DH at this point, not a good idea for him to sign with anybody in the NL.
  11. No, he is just being realistic while some cling to the hope he will somehow have a comeback season when there is just no evidence to suggest that.
  12. I agree with you that it won't be a true platoon as I really don't want to see Francisco or Overbay starting every game against righties. Reynolds probably was signed to be the guy, unless something better comes along.
  13. I don't think there is much out there, Drew of course but he isn't a backup, maybe Nick Green, the White Sox would dump Keppinger I'm sure. Velez or Herrera don't really play shortstop so it might be Falu or Bianchi. If it is Falu then he just takes Bianchi's spot on the 40 man as Bianchi can't be sent to the minors. Not a lot of good options but it is at least the backup shortstop and not the starter we are talking about.
  14. I don't think it is a good fit, he probably shouldn't be playing infield and the Brewers don't need outfield help. Bianchi is real bad with the bat but they really need somebody that can play solid defense if it is not Bianchi.
  15. This is an internet message board, not a court of law. Contrary to the opinions of some I encourage judging other people and using your brain to determine if they are of good or bad character. I am of the opinion he is a person of bad character. I get off on calling him out based on the below public police report which I posted in a previous year but since the Brewers continue to sign him I will post again and bold why I think he is a person of low character since you asked.
  16. Yuck, just can not get rid of this guy. The Brewers will probably end up with 5 guys better than Rodriguez in AAA. The guy in the bullpen with the most money will also be the worst.
  17. You are correct, but they have approximately a 2 out of 3 chance of getting one of the top three picks so it is still unlikely they would drop to 4.
  18. You picked a really nice sample and stat to back up your opinion. You like BA, we get it. Please understand that it isn't very useful without other stats. Don't really have a problem with the sample because there is no point in including career numbers because Weeks isn't the same player he used to be when he was a 800 OPS guy against lefties. However, a 700 OPS against lefties is okay and very likely better than Scooter will ever be able to achieve against lefties.
  19. True, but with him he can play multiple positions so they don't really have to worry about making sure they don't draft his position.
  20. I think at this point I would rather have Green in AAA playing pretty much every game, especially since he didn't play last year. If Ramirez gets hurt then bring Green up and he can be inserted right in the lineup.
  21. I hear a lot of people talking about Lepay and he would be a good choice but has he ever done baseball before? I just don't know if he would be a good radio baseball guy. I guess I have been listening to Uecker all of these years and the stories he has told between pitches.
  22. They still are a large corporation with a Network launch less than a month away that would kill the stock price if it bombed. HHH likes to help out his buddies but even he has investors to answer to.
  23. Not sure you are right on this, there are conflicting reports on if the $5 and $1 million are buyout amounts or option amounts. If they are option amounts then they will not necessarily owe him anything in 2018. Also not sure if the $13 million is an option or not or can just automatically vest for both parties.
  24. That is actually a decent possibility, it seems Punk may be gone now so a Bryan/HHH match would make sense. There would be a lot of heat on HHH for the match which could create a good atmosphere. Of course they still have the problem of a poor main event.
  25. One thing he hits upon is the relief pitching. I don't think the Brewers or organizations in general get enough credit for developing relief pitching. I don't know if it is because they are deemed failed starters (Potentially Thornburg, Smith, Hellweg, Burgos, Fiers, Pena), older when they reach the majors (Kintzler, Henderson, Hand, Wooten) or they just are not valued at the minor league level. The Brewers are able to splurge on a guy like Garza because they are paying peanuts to their pen and the highest paid guy is Gorz and he is gone after this year. The Brewers are set up nicely to have a low salary pen for years to come and that is important for a small market team like the Brewers.
