  1. because jeffress is not currently on a 40-man roster, he is subject to discipline should he test positive for marijuana, and one more positive test would mean a lifetime ban. to his credit, he's been in the brewers' organization on a minor league contract for nearly three months and hasn't tested positive for marijuana during that time (to our knowledge). To me none of that really matters too much in regards to bringing him up. There are guys on the 40 man that they could take off and it wouldn't impact much at all and the marijuana thing is a reason to add him to the major league roster so he doesn't test positive.
  2. No idea on the value but would think the value and demand would be more if they didn't have the horrible logo on the seats. If I bought county stadium seats would buy the newer red or green seats before those seats.
  3. I admit I never heard of this guy until the Brewers signed him and he went to Nashville. However, looking at his career he consistently has OPS between 850-900 against righties and 750-800 against lefties but has never been called up to the majors. Anybody see him play or know why he has never been given an opportunity?
  4. Since the other Wang thread was locked just wanted to mention that Wang has now been active for 90 days. Even with a season ending injury he can be sent to the minors next year by the Brewers. Of course he has to stay on the 25 man if not injured this season but at least there will be no issue with Wang next season.
  5. With the days off leading to less work for the bullpen and the Toronto series coming up I would imagine an outfielder would be brought up so Braun could DH. Doesn't solve the 40 man question but Gindl has been hot so might be the perfect time to bring him up.
  6. Come on, he has played against plenty of left handers in the minors and didn't really fair too well after A ball. Saying he doesn't hit lefties well is a fact, stating he will get better after facing them a couple of time is not fact.
  7. If the Brewers want him back next year probably wouldn't take a whole lot now. Wouldn't be a horrible backup if they don't pick somebody else in trade before free agency. Have to give Melvin credit on this one as pretty much everybody nationally and the royal media thought the Royals won the trade hands down.
  8. This is probably what Nats fans thought yesterday when they saw Estrada pitching and the lineup Strasburg was facing Maybe, but Estrada is a proven major league player. I was coming more from a Rockies fan point of view, I can't imagine the Brewers trotting out a guy twice who really doesn't have any business in the majors. Just makes me question Rockies management and what they are trying to do.
  9. Amazing that the Rockies are sending this guy out again versus the Brewers. They are basically just giving the Brewers the win.
  10. 1B is a mistake except for the part about not giving Prince Fielder astronomical money. So I'd say he's batting .500 with 1B I think we also have to differentiate between a mistake and not having good options. Doing nothing instead of something stupid is not a mistake. Doing nothing can certainly be a mistake, not just in baseball but many times in history doing nothing was a mistake.
  11. That is pretty horrendous and not consistent with suspensions that have been handed out the last couple of years.
  12. Pretty nice accomplishment to get to 2,500 hits, with his solid defense he is making a case for the hall of fame.
  13. of players optioned and not on the major league disabled list: johnny hellweg brooks hall hiram burgos add michael blazek to that list. Does anybody know if these guys can be removed from the 40 man when hurt in the minor leagues or are they protected somehow because they are on the minor league DL?
  14. I still wouldn't mind the Bucks trading down and drafting Embiid and getting additional picks. However, I also understand why the owners wouldn't do that as there is only a limited time frame to get approval for a new arena and tanking another year wouldn't help that cause. Long term for winning championships I think it would be best for the franchise to draft Wiggins/Embiid/Exum but long term for the franchise to stay in Milwaukee Parker is probably the best pick.
  15. Morneau's numbers are better at home but he has played pretty well on the road as well. Even the last few years when he started to decline he was still hitting righties. Don't think the Rockies will be looking to trade him though as he does have a reasonable salary next year,
  16. I can't see Nelson coming up before the All Star break. After Estrada starts Wednesday the Brewers can and should probably skip Estrada's next two starts with off days on the 30th and July 3rd. That would allow Lohse, Gallardo, Garza and Peralta to start on regular rest.
  17. Kind of odd that the Rockies would start a guy that is so horrible. Maybe one of those games where the starting pitcher is left out there a long time to save the bullpen
  18. Getting a backup shortstop is probably a higher priority but I would have no problem with them adding Sizemore. His defense still seems okay and to me he is a better left handed outfield option than they have in house right now.
  19. He actually pitched against the Brewers when Arizona was in Milwaukee so the Brewers should be somewhat familiar with him. Gave up four runs in 5 innings and took the loss.
  20. He is a name player with a solid history and the best utility guy out there. If the Rays make the decision to trade him they will get more just because the Cardinals and Brewers would likely both be interested.
  21. I work with people from Verona and there was a lot of damage there to houses and garages based on some pictures that were sent.
  22. I remember being really into the NBA at the time as it was kind of the Jordan era still even though he wasn't playing at the time. Excited for the NBA Finals and was annoyed that the game kept on getting interrupted. Looked like Ewing would finally be getting a ring as the Knicks went up 3-2 in the series.
  23. i'm not certain how teams can negotiate with green's and mills' agent(s) at the moment. you're correct that they're both under contract at the moment, but either player could opt out of the organization at any time now and become a free agent. teams can't negotiate with other organizations' players until they hit free agency, so i would imagine that unless they opt to test free agency, the only other way either will get to play for another organization is for another to team to trade for him. According to Todd Rosiak it is not open-ended and Mills can't just leave for a better offer. He must be placed on the 25-man roster of another team and that has not happened. http://www.jsonline.com/blogs/sports/263314841.html
  24. Zobrist and Bonifacio depending on how much a team wants to trade away. Zobrist is having a down year but still would probably take quite a bit and don't know if he would really want a bench role even if he ends up playing almost every day at second, short or corner outfield.
  25. Very discouraging year from him. I keep hearing that the power will come with maturity but he is 26 in a month and a slugging under 300 just isn't acceptable.
