  1. I give that 87 team credit though as they were able to recover with a 67-50 record the rest of the way. They were just in a very tough division with the Blue Jays and Tigers over 96 wins. The Brewers would have won the west by 6 games over the Twins, the eventual world champs.
  2. Also, why do we always seem to end with the Cubs? I don't really like that the regular season ends October 4th, kind of like it this year when it started late March and ends September 28. I do find the back to back series with the Cubs and White Sox in May interesting, should boost spring attendance.
  3. Have not seen it in a while but is there anything stopping him from playing minor league ball and also college football? The minor league season ends in September so if he is really this good at receiver to be guaranteed a starting spot maybe he should play college ball.
  4. It is a good first step for Arizona, Gibson should be next.
  5. Staying home and not buying tickets does nothing but perhaps lower the budget next year so that the team is even worse in 2015. I still have faith in this team and don't really think Atlanta is that good so even if they can't pick up three games on the Cardinals they should be in good shape to make the playoffs and then anything is possible.
  6. I agree that this will eventually be had for cheap, around $10, just will take a while. Supply and demand will eventually catch up where there will be plenty of supply (40,000+) but the demand for Hank will no longer be there.
  7. In other words the Brewers have two spots that they need to upgrade offensively, which is pretty good. Unfortunately, Morneau could have upgraded one of the two spots.
  8. I for one appreciate the positives and negatives that various posters have a on players as it helps me form an opinion on potential future Brewers. Thanks to everybody that provides insight on these players and how the Brewers approach their development.
  9. Thanks Mass for the clarification, excellent job as always. Good to see that Gomez and Zarraga will still be in the organization.
  10. Hector Gomez was mentioned in the minor league free agent thread so is the AFL still considered part of this season and can they wait until after the AFL to make a decision on adding him to the 40 man?
  11. He was claimed by the Tigers. As jerichoholicninja mentioned it is very difficult for a quality AL relief pitcher to ever get to the Brewers.
  12. Banda with another quality start yesterday for Arizona's A ball team. I guess I just don't understand why they throw in a lefty like Banda in the trade and go to such great lengths to keep Wang on the 40 man roster all year.
  13. I remember going to a free signing with Lucroy last year at an oil change place about 45 minutes after it started and there was nobody there besides my family and me. He signed anything and took as many pictures as you wanted, a lot has sure changed in one year.
  14. For 2015 I think they really need to take a long look at a Rogers/Clark platoon where Rogers plays the Reynolds role of playing third every once in a while as well. I believe they could get similar or better production than the Reynolds/Overbay platoon at minimum wage price. I know some don't like older prospects but there are certainly advantages to getting minimum wage players in their prime years, similar to what they might be able to do with Fiers on the pitching side.
  15. Looking back 82brewcrew11 voted for M Diaz and I don't see M Diaz on the list anywhere and there were a couple that just voted for Diaz without a first name. However, I don't think it would have made a difference in the final rankings.
  16. If you are trying to make it on a weekend the Sundays that the Packers play (14 and 28th) will probably have decent prices and weeknights still won't be too bad especially with all those BP games in September and the Thursday Cardinals game when the Packers open their season.
  17. Nashville has had some brutal teams and finally got a decent one this year. Of course now that they are leaving I have no problem ruining their playoff chances by taking a number of their good players in September. They are already having trouble holding on the playoff hopes without Fiers and Nelson.
  18. I would be fine with that but I do recall Lohse and perhaps others not really like the idea of 6 days rest. There are a couple of off days as well in September so I don't know if Roenicke would really want the rock the boat with the vets and would feel more comfortable sending Fiers of Nelson to the bullpen.
  19. I don't get why people get upset when somebody factually states that someone is underrated and flew under the radar. The experts were wrong, no reason to take it as a personal attack against you. Rogers will be a major league player and hopefully productive for the Brewers.
  20. Interesting that they make this move so late in the year. I wonder if they might even consider starting Maton at A+ next year and putting Demuth back at A ball next year.
  21. My favorite part of that article is when it states "The 2014 Brewers have a winning record at home and on the road; against winning and .500 teams and against losing teams; against right-handed starters and left-handed starters." It is far too often that I hear they can't beat winning teams or struggle against the poor teams, etc. so it is nice to see that they actual win against every type of team. Sure, they are going to lose on occasion but more often than not whatever team is thrown at them they will win.
  22. I know a lot of people hate these kind of small sample stats. However, Overbay is batting 391/491/565 with runners in scoring position this year so maybe he isn't a horrible bench player after all.
  23. Bad news but it does give the Brewers flexibility with the playoff roster. If the Brewers wish they could add any two players in the Brewers organization at August 31 to the playoff roster. The replacements are not even required to have played at all in the majors prior to the playoffs.
  24. The recent thread on the Sabathia and Greinke trades got me thinking of this trade and what people will think of it down the road. I am starting to fear that the Brewers and fans will regret giving up Anthony Banda in the trade. In three starts thus far he is 2-0 with 22 strikeouts in 17.1 innings of work.
  25. I'm all for replacing Overbay with Clark but doubt the organization would ever do that.
