  1. The second half of 2013 does give me hope. Kind of similar to what the organization thread noted, they have pitched well before so we know it can be done, we just don't know if they can duplicate that performance for the whole year.
  2. I think some are confusing bust for disappointment and nobody is arguing the Brewers should have drafted somebody else. Even if he was the best player from a particular draft it does not mean he wasn't a disappointment. It all depends on what expectation were. It works the other way as well, a guy could be the 50th best player from a draft and still exceed expectations if there were none to begin with.
  3. This will not be on cable, dish, etc. Will work on computers, tablets, some smartphones, video game systems, Roku, some other handheld devices.
  4. It is certainly possible that Weeks is the biggest disappointment in Brewers history. I mean he is the best second baseman in franchise history but he had very high expectations, probably franchise player type expectations with a possible number retirement expectations. It is hard though to really say biggest disappointment because I certainly was high on JM Gold when he was drafted, same with Antone Williamson, thought Kevin Barker could be rookie of the year, etc. Those guys are long forgotten by most though because they never really did anything in the majors, while people will always remember Weeks because he has played for the Brewers for so long.
  5. Don't watch much of the AL but looks like a right handed Juan Francisco, no thanks.
  6. For whatever reason the promotion department does not seem to be in tune with potentially how this roster could be constructed. First of all they should have anticipated that it was likely that Aoki would be traded and now there is the possibility that Gennett could find himself right back in the minors if he doesn't start off well or Weeks is hot.
  7. I think the Badgers will get to play in Milwaukee this year for the first two rounds, they certainly lucked out in that respect. I saw them once in person this year and you can tell they have much more talented and skilled players this year, should make the sweet 16 pretty easily and sure hope for a final 4 run.
  8. I will give it a try, have to do 6 months to get WrestleMania for free but it is worth it for me because I like watching 80's WWF and it appears every WWF PPV and hundreds of hours of on demand programs will be available. In regards to their risk, I agree it is high risk/reward but the cable companies were already taking a big chunk of the PPV amount.
  9. Well there were about 20 guys that deserved induction and by electing all first year guys it doesn't ease up the backlog of players on the ballot at all.
  10. Yeah, he was already off the 40 man so they must really think he is done to release a 23 year old pitcher who was once a top pitching prospect.
  11. Because he brings entertainment and money to the Brewers franchise and he's a better backup than anybody we have on the roster for the OF. He is the type of player that will always find a new way to entertain. Schafer is younger, cheaper and a better outfielder. He also doesn't bring the baggage that Morgan would. Morgan was a better hitter than him at one point but not anymore. Highly doubt that Morgan could bring in more money at this stage in his declining career than the gap in the two salaries.
  12. Nice synopsis MNBrew. Like you stated I do think they have room to make a move still, bullpen and first base being the most glaring. Wouldn't mind a guy like Balfour, especially if they try to hide Wang in the bullpen. They could then bring up Blazek/Figaro/Hand if somebody is struggling or hurt. I know this is an optimism thread but I fear the Gorzelanny injury will be worse than thought so another veteran would be nice in the bullpen. Also Braun will be making $10 million next year.
  13. I am starting to believe that as well. Have not been too excited about Davis but I have come to accept that the Brewers are not likely to contend in 2014 so if Davis somehow figures it all out in 2014 similar to Gomez in 2013 then they have a chance at competing, if he still stinks then they are no worse off. Based on minor league numbers still not convinced that Thornburg will amount to much so it might be a case of selling high on him and buying low on Davis.
  14. I am a big baseball fan but never heard of Paul Blair until today, who I have heard quite a few people talk about today. Seemed like a heck of a outfielder that always seemed to be on a winner.
  15. Well if you exercise the option you are willing to pay him an extra $10 million that you don't have to, if you give him the qualifying offer you are willing to pay him $15 million that you don't have to, which is fairly significant. Maybe let him know if he also declines the option they will not do the qualifying offer.
  16. Exactly, which is why they should not go with the qualifying offer.
  17. I don't think it is a likely scenario Ramirez is with the Brewers in 2015 but agree that the option isn't that bad especially considering the cost of the buyout and that it would generate nothing in return. Once the Brewers are off the hook though I would not give the qualifying offer.
  18. Melvin traded for Greinke right before Christmas, maybe a trade.
  19. Good topic but it looks like they forgot to mention if they trade for a guy like Davis there is a chance the Brewers could be trading somebody from the 40 man like Thornburg. Also, isn't there some sort of exception for removing guys off the 40 man and not risk losing them? Could they do this to Hall or Shackelford?
  20. I don't think things are moving too slowly, to me it actually appears that everything is coming together at the right time. With the Brewers you couldn't really see future success with them when there was talk of Miller Park. With the Bucks it is real easy to see that they will have at least a couple of franchise players in Giannis and there next draft pick to showcase. I'm loving the Bucks are losing now and it just seems obvious to me that the Bucks will turn this thing around rather quickly as long as they just ride it out this year. Have not been this excited about the state of the franchise in at least a decade.
  21. Correct, completely disregarding what somebody does at the major league level is foolish but still a small sample compared to his minor league numbers. I would love to see Weeks go though because it will not be hard at all for him to get worse, he is at the stage of his career where all he is going to do is get worse, Gennett on the other hand can still get better.
  22. Kind of like Cody Scarpetta his contract was initially voided and renegotiated after an injury was revealed.
  23. Since they need a lefty in the pen anyway hopefully they can stash him away for the year and he develops into a starter.

  25. Sure seems like the Brewers offer was the better one for Hart, get more guaranteed money and if he has a good enough year to reach incentives he will get a multiyear deal for the 2015 season anyway.
