I like the idea of having a weekend to bring back retired players so it will be nice to have Fielder, Lucroy and Braun there as well. Honoring the 82 team has gotten a little old but I do believe this is the first time back for Ted Simmons since being elected to the baseball hall of Fame.
If Cousins gets surgery he might be looking at a DFA after the season plus loses basically two seasons in his late 20s. Probably worth giving it a shot.
Up until these last couple of games I thought Gustave was looking much better this year than prior, striking out more batters. However, could use a fresh arm and hoping Mejia closes things out tonight with a 10 run lead.
Unfortunately the production in CF is not fine but you may very well be correct that there will be nothing out there to significantly improve the situation.
Agree that both Bell and Gallo should be targets at the deadline especially considering the production the Brewers are getting out of CF. Of course if the Yankees are willing to deal him at the deadline then Gallo probably isn't being very productive either.
Not sure why the Brewers would do this so no. Tellez has the most upside, is cheaper and just frankly better. A lot of salary for no gain. If Hosmer was on the last year of his deal and the Padres were not good then he would be a target to compliment McCutchen but no.
Until seeing the videos above I always assumed Erceg was a left hand pitcher and maybe had a shot at the majors. Not so confident realizing he is right handed.
The Brewers 40 man is not full as they have two open spots plus Topa to the 60 day if they really needed it and there is quite a bit of filler still. They have flexibility with the shuttle this year and believe there is some good arms in AAA but doubt Lindblom will be a part of it.
Will be there for Star Wars Night. Always enjoy the different images and names they use for the players portraying a Star Wars Characters. No more of The Maile-Lorian or Braun Solo though.
Brosseau has done his part against lefties, which is what he was brought in for. If Urias is really ready to go then won't be a lot of at bats for Brosseau but would have rather have just kept him over Hiura until Urias is officially back.
For sure, only one person did this and that individual didn't vote for Felix Valerio. Wouldn't have changed any of the final rankings. However, Valerio would now be on 28 of 28 ballots.
Probably would put Vogelbach as an option. Come playoff time they could use his left handed bat against righties. I refuse to believe Stearns and Counsell actually believe McCutchen is a good option against RHP when it matter most since he hasn't done so since 2019.
Would also inquire of the Orioles about Anthony Santander. Would have a couple of years of control and starting to get more expensive so maybe the Orioles would be willing to move. Brewers could use him for a couple of years at RF/DH and potentially move on from McCutchen/Renfroe in 2023.
It's hindsight of course but Eduardo Escobar would be real nice in this lineup and could play 3b/1b/dh. I do wonder how hard they tried to sign him. Priority number one at the deadline is probably a left handed hitter.that can actually hit cleanup vs. lefties. So annoying seeing McCutchen in that spot against RHP.
I don't think anybody has done poor enough to warrant a DFA and Suter has a proven track record so will go with the rather boring choice of sending Gustave and Milner down. The position player change won't happen until Urias is ready to go.
Why was the news of Cain getting injured in Spring Training not helpful? Do you want a separate thread for every IL stint such as if Urias comes back and then subsequently put on the IL again. Just trying to get clarification since your original post was removed and most locks include a moderator explanation.
Maybe give Narvaez the DH spot today so he doesn't have to play the field but can still hit as he has had success against Keller in a very small sample.
Taylor for Cain as well.
They need another left handed bat that can play DH on occassion, we'll see if Singleton gets the opportunity. If he was right handed there is no way he would get a shot with McCutchen around.
