  1. Yes, but the coverage that he could control - that unbelievably arrogant ESPN special 'The Decision' - was all him. He could have pulled the plug on that. I had no problem with any coverage up until then because it was for the most part out of his control. The guy is an egomaniac just based on that display last night. The spotlight is going to shift throughout the season from him, to Wade, to Bosh. In Cleveland he was 'the man', now he's a superstar piece to the puzzle in Miami. It was strange, he wanted to show how selfless and about team he was by signing with Miami yet his actions last night contradicted his decision. It was all about him. Maybe I'm wrong and he can separate the two personas on and off the court. I'm doubting it though.
  2. I know they play two different positions but based on age and talent doesn't Durant's 5yr/$86M deal look like a steal compared to the Bulls just signing Boozer for 5yr/$80M? Also, is he that much more valuable than Gooden? What's the contract difference, roughly $48M? That just sounds obscene to me.
  3. So what do the Bucks do when they want to resign Jennings, Illaysova, LRMAM, etc. Will they have the cap room to make those moves? I suppose until we know the real terms of the Gooden/Salmons deals its all speculation.
  4. Does this make the Sanders pick a bit more peculiar? I would think Babbit would have made a ton more sense now if this deal really is for 5 years. There seems to be quite a log jam at PF.
  5. Per Chad Ford at ESPN the Bucks also get the 44th pick in the draft. "@chadfordinsider Bucks also get 44th pick (the one Portland just traded them) in the deal. Saves GS about $15 million. Salmons unlikely to return to Mil"
  6. The response on the trade I just got from a friend here at work who is a big Warriors fan was, "Oh thank God." I asked if he really thought he was that bad and his response to that was, "We used to call him 'Uh-oh Maggette-O'." I'll try to stay optimistic. It is only one opinion.
  7. Boy the barefoot/minimalist revolution is catching on at bfnet. I ordered my Vibram KSO's last week and they should arrive tomorrow. I'm excited to get started and from the research I've been doing I have to echo M Skjellyfetti's point about taking it slow. That seems to be the major theme with everyone that has converted. Take it slow and try to run at a pace that makes sense for you. Although, I would think the pace part would take care of itself if you just listen to your feet and body during and after you run. I can't imagine I will be able to run nearly as quick as I did in shoes but I'm okay with that. I'll be very interested to follow everyone's progress.
  8. I successfully downloaded it yesterday afternoon for my Iphone 3GS. I had to download and update to the newest version of Itunes first though, perhaps that is your issue? The update took about 20-25 minutes I think. Works pretty well. I love the new folders and multitasking.
  9. Oops. You are correct.
  10. I have lived in the Bay area for nearly 10 years now and these are a few activities for a 2 and 7 year old to do while in SF. While I have never been to the SF Zoo it is supposed to be nice and my 3 year old enjoyed it. The California Academy of Sciences is really a great museum for kids and adults. They redesigned it about a year or 2 ago and you could spend a day there. Also, as stated above Pier 39 if you are on the Embarcadero, there is shopping and I believe an aquarium but I've never been to it. If you are near the financial district you could take a cable car from Powell straight down to the wharf (Pier 39). It's a fun way to see the heart of the city and get down there. Also, you go to Lombard St (crooked street on a steep hill) and take pictures after you get to the top or bottom. Those two activities may not be so great with a 2 year old though. If you rent a car I would recommend Muir Woods. It's about 10 minutes over the Golden Gate Bridge and you can walk around and check out the giant redwoods. It's a good family park/forest to visit (you can bring a stroller, there are paved portions of the park). Finally, if you want to check out a great view of the Golden Gate Bridge and hang out by some grass/sand I would highly recommend Crissy Field. You could spend tons of time there flying a kite or playing in the sand and just checking out the sites. There are tons of other activities on the other side of the Bay Bridge but it doesn't sound like you have tons of time. If you do though PM me and I can give you the skinny on some. You do not have to have a car in SF. It's a relatively tiny city. Muni is the bus system in SF and it's very good. It's very reliable and cheap. Muni, cab are the best forms of transportation. As far as the stadium I would recommend Muni to it. It's around $2 or so and gets you pretty close. If you want to do the kayak thing you won't catch any of the game and you will freeze. I also don't recommend driving from Anaheim to SF. You will spend at least a day doing that (7-8 hours). There are cheap flights from Socal to SF on Southwest all the time, which IMO is a much better alternative. Finally, as stated by 1992casey, dress warm. This weekend was a poor example but summer and winter are the worst seasons in SF. Spring and fall are the warmest. You would fit right in if you wore jeans and a long sleeve shirt everywhere. Have fun! Edit - content/grammatical error
  11. I wish the Pac-10 would call Texas bluff because that is certainly what it feels like at this point. It sounds like they are attempting to squeeze as much money out of the Pac-10 in these negotiations as possible. Texas really wants to stay in that 10 (or could be 9 if Texas Tech leaves for the SEC) team conference? I'm not buying it. Hopefully that is just the cynic in me.
  12. Since youtube is blocked at work and I want to watch on my phone, what would I search for on youtube to find the above clip trwi?
  13. I thought Art Linkletter was 3. Law of 4's? One of the only things that drives me more crazy than a 'Chuck Norris' joke is when someone goes on and on about how 'celebrities go in three's'. They do seem to go in streaks, but I've never noted a 'law of 3's'. What constitutes the time period of a law of threes? Going further, how 'big' in pop culture does someone have to be before they qualify under this rule?Did it have to be in blue? Seems like a minor diatribe for something that should viewed as tongue and cheek as it's obviously not a law. But hey, let's not have any fun with a light hearted thread. However, since I did miss Linkletter it must now be called the law of 4's (or 5's if you want to count Wooden). Thank you for the heads up Bork! http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif
  14. First Gary Coleman, then Dennis Hopper, now Rue McClanahan. The law of 3's stays intact.
  15. I wasn't a huge fan of 'Attack and Release' so if you really did enjoy that album and wanted to dig deeper with respect to the Black Keys I would recommend 'Thickfreakness'. It's what started my love affair with them years ago. It's their can't miss album (IMO). Dan Auerbach's solo album 'Keep it Hid' is pretty amazing as well.
  16. Gotta say I love the new Radio Dept. album, very chill and pop infused in my opinion. Swedish band. I seem to be doing a bit of the Swedish culture circuit as I also just finished the first two books in the Millenium Trilogy from Stieg Larsson. Just waiting for 'The Girl that Kick the Honets Nest to come out. I highly recommend them as well but I suppose that is for another thread...
  17. It is very popular here in the Bay Area and I remember reading this article about it last year as I run about 3-4x a week and was thinking the same thing you were. The Vibram Foot Fingers seem a bit more suited for the hardcore barefoot runner but might be worth a shot if the Nike Free's don't give you the barefoot feel you're looking for. I never tried barefoot running, I would be interested in hearing anyone else's experience as well.
  18. Just got back from Sconi and was lucky enough to catch the game against Memphis. What impressed me about that win was that they had no business winning that game. They stole it. They made far too many mistakes and their defense wasn't great the entire game but in the end did just enough to win the game. I think that is a good sign this late in the season. Last night's win was impressive though. To come back after getting beat by the Clips on national TV a week or so ago and kind of make a statement to them was nice to see, it hasn't been that way in a while. I love the intensity they play with and hope it keeps up in the playoffs.
  19. I'm listening via iPhone app and also cannot get the WTMJ feed.
  20. I think this question fits in this thread... I have am out of market and have an iPhone. I have had MLB.tv in the past and streamed from my laptop so I am cool with that. My question is the app that the iPhone has allows you to use your MLB audio and video account to watch and listen to games on it, but it cost $14 or so. Does anyone know if that is waived if you have a paid subscription to the video and audio or if that is a seperate cost?
  21. I think Scott actually finds it amusing. He is a big Stern fan per the below and the show's producer Gary Del Abate. "Since Scott Van Pelt felt the wratch of Captain Janks last night, as highlighted in today's A.M. Hot Clicks, I figured it would be interesting to get the anchor's reaction. Van Pelt, who revealed he's a Howard Stern fan and grew up listening to the legendary radio host on Washington's D.C. 101 station, said, "Many of the most respected anchors in the business, folks far more respected than me, have been on the wrong end of Howard's loyal following. Here's a little-known fact. I was on the receiving end [of a prank call] back in the day at The Golf Channel. So, I believe this places me in rarified air. How many people have twice on live TV heard the dreaded words 'Howard Stern'? I'm just bummed that my 'Hi, YouTube' comment was not caught on camera, because I knew that's where this moment was headed." http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/2010/extramustard/hotclicks/02/24/scott-van-pelt-talks-about-howard-stern-prank-call/
  22. Capt Jenks (the guy that pranked them) had the whole story on Stern's show yesterday. It was hilarious how it unfolded. He used an agents name in the Philly area that he googled so it wasn't even Westbrook's own agent when he called them to say Westbrook wanted to comment. He also told them he wanted to do it live so that they couldn't cut up his sound bites and misrepresent him. Unbelieveable how incompetent the screeners for ESPN were in that instance. That Westbrook impersonation was pretty awful IMO, they should have known from the start.
  23. Is Broken Bells out yet? I have tried to find it on emusic and Slacker with no luck. I keep hearing the radio song constantly on XMU and I really want to download the album.
  24. The more important question is how much value does the Corey Hart jersey I received 2 years ago have? I'm almost embarassed to wear it this season. Unless he mashes... http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif
