  1. Not seeing this anywhere. [sarcasm]Sounds like another done deal.[/sarcasm] You should see it shortly. My source is pretty reliable. Not trying to create a frenzy. Just passing on what I heard from someone that would know. This is what makes this board better than the rest.
  2. Seriously, I feel more plugged in than him right now and I'm checking like three websites for chatter.
  3. Anyone else feel like throwing KRod in any trade involving Greinke would be an insult to another team's GM? I'm just hoping for the best prospect package; regardless of position.
  4. Huh, I read that the reason the A's held off on the trade was because of 'concerns about a hand injury'. When they did that the Dodger's swooped in and sweetened the deal by offering to pay all of his salary. I agree that the A's normally don't take on salary but who knows if it was the only reason for Beane not pulling the trigger. Would it be worth it to dump Aramis and some of his contract in order to get a better prospect and partial financial flexibility or do they need to trade him and get rid of the entire contract and a lower level prospect? Not saying those are the only options but I'm curious what others think.
  5. They usually aren't but weren't they the other finalist in the Hanley Ramirez sweepstakes? It wouldn't surprise me if they at least inquired about ARAM. And Oaklands farm system should be stacked. They've been in sell mode the past 3 years.
  6. Is it me or does it feel like the Brewers are in the Reyes discussions purely to drive up his price?
  7. So he could score on a flyable or even a slow roller to the infield. Overlooked and true.
  8. Tell me if I'm off here, but if Prince had singled in that AB could Gomez not have scored pretty easily from 2nd? I mean, he's plenty fast so why steal?
  9. I was at that show as well. I miss Summerfest. We have nothing musically like it here in the Bay Area. I guess we have Noise Pop and Outsidelands but those don't offer the value that Summerfest does as far as band proximity and cost. I'm jealous because in addition to hearting the Brewers and every other WI sports team I heart music. WI music scene in summer > SF music scene in summer Speaking of 2002, where are the Guffs?!?!? http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif
  10. I think his overall approach has changed to 'this is a contract year'.
  11. Do you think he will go into the HOF as a Ray?
  12. Oh, I get it. Don't ever apologize for enjoying Tesla. Ever.
  13. Let Down by Radiohead is by far my favorite. There is a new one by this Welsh band called The Joy Formidable, song is Whirring. Great guitar and drums at the build up. Neither of these start with an acoustic guitar but have a good crescendos in my opinion.
  14. If I had a quicker wit that would have been it as well. Funny, would have made sense as the only Brewers jersey I own is Hart's.
  15. I just finished Amsterdam by Ian McEwan. It won the Booker Prize a few years back and I had planned on reading it for a while. Quick read, under 200 pages. It's about two men who dated the same woman years back and the story begins after she has recently died. They eventually become mortal enemies and the fun ensues. I enjoyed the prose and themes of the story. I am currently reading The Big Short by Michael Lewis. I'm all about educating myself over the recent financial collapse and this book is another entry to it. It's been out for a bit but I just got around to it. It's typically Lewis style writing. I like it so far because along with the mechanics of the mortgage backed securities collapse he also adds a human element by focusing on the main characters stories and backgrounds.
  16. Good idea thebruce. I would say that I would do a terrible job of describing Local Natives musical style but I would say they sort of resemble Fleet Foxes, a mellow almost delicate sounding rock record? They use harmonies quite a bit. Menomena is a little more straight forward indie rock. There is some saxophone in what they do which differentiates their sound as well as Brent Knopf's vocals. I apologize as I'm not so great with music descriptions. Has anyone else noticed the amount of beachy type albums released this year? I listened to Surfer Blood's album 'Astro Coast' and Best Coast's 'Crazy For You' quite a bit this year which had a really great 60s summer vibe to them. Also, Real Estate's self titled album sounded similar to them as well. I would recommend all three of those albums. They are quick, carefree listens. When pining for summer during the long WI winters they might be nice to give a spin.
  17. I second the Sufjan Stevens, Spoon, Vampire Weekend, Deerhunter, The National, and Broken Social Scene but I want to add Local Natives 'Gorilla Manor' to the top album list. I listened to that album a ton this spring and Sirius XMU just played one of their 'sessions' featuring them. It reminded me how great that album is. I can't wait to see what they come up with next. Oh yeah, and Menomena's 'Mines'. I've been a fan since I heard Fun Blame Monster and they new album doesn't disappoint. Edit: content
  18. Big thumbs up to the Bay Area in Fall. I live 30 minutes from Napa and you could definitely do a nice 3 day weekend there. We probably head up there 3-4 times a year (2 kids now, makes it hard) just for day trips but there are so many B&Bs as well as spas you could find that accommodate nice long weekends. Obviously there are a ton of great wineries but there are also lots of great restaurants. I would recommend staying in Sonoma as opposed to Napa though. I believe it's a bit cheaper as well. It's far less crowded and much more laid back. Temps are nice this time of year. It was in the 70s today.
  19. Iit's actually $350 because you have to purchase the NFL ticket first in order to get the to-go package without having DirecTV.
  20. Maybe I have completely missed this somewhere but would Taylor Green be a viable replacement at 3rd base for 2012? Or is he not in the conversation though because he's sitting at AA, was injured last year, or it's still too early to tell? I know it would mean at least another season of McGehee or a crappy replacement, but at this point next year is going to be a rebuilding year anyway.
  21. I was inspired by this thread so I called to cancel my Sirius subscription today and they gave me 5 months for $20. Not a bad deal. I will probably cancel though after this promotion. The only reason I still didn't cancel was Howard. But I'm losing touch with the show since Artie has been out. It just seems to be missing something. There are too many music, news, talk, and sports apps for my iPhone that it just seems pointless to continue my subscription for one or two channels.
  22. I think the show has been terrible for a few seasons yet I continue to watch it. What irked me about last nights episode was the 'whoa is me' look Turtle had on his face when he had to wash his cars. They all act like spoiled little 2 year olds who pout when they don't get their way. It's tired. I don't have any expectations as far as moral values or something from the show, but it could at least be entertaining. The writing is just awful. But I'm the schmuck that still watches it because I've been watchig it from the beginning. I think 'How to Make it in America' is a far better version of Entourage.
  23. * Spoilers* I had a few question/comments on it. Question: I don't understand how Cobb got from his meeting at the table with Saito (old guy version) all the way back to reality. I thought if they killed themselves they would be stuck down in their subconscious based on the fact that they were sedated? Was it different because it was Cobb's subconscious reality that he created with Mal? Or was the point that when (I'm assuming using the gun) they shot themselves Cobb went deeper forever to a place where he could be with his Father and kids? I didn't understand the lack of the kick back. Comment: Which leads to my comment. The scene where Ariadne is creating the architecture in Paris and puts the two mirrors up between her and Cobb, did anyone else think it really meant (or maybe it was obvious and I missed it) that Cobb had created so many layers of his subconscious that he could never wake up? O rthat he was just in a dream this whole time? My thought was that the end was not reality but that he would be at peace because he let go of his guilt with Mal and could 'dream' of a life with his kids. All of characters in the movie seemed to be Cobb's projections, not real people. There was a ton more and I had some immediate thoughts/questions after I saw it but I forgot now. I need to see it again to process it a bit more. I love the collective sigh that everyone in the theatre had at the conclusion.
  24. This is beginning to get way off topic so feel free to start a new thread mods. Perhaps 'Where has integrity gone?' Of course they were thrilled, their business is advertising and their responsibility is to their shareholders to maximize wealth. James business is putting a ball through a hoop and shuffling his feet on defense and his responsibility is to his family, fans and himself. He says yes or no - not ESPN or any other media outlet. He could have quietly done this with integrity like Durant did. He chose to make a circus of this - no one else. No one put a gun to his head. For the record I don't think ESPN (or the advertisers for that matter) is/are blameless either. I think they are perpetuating this type of behavior for the future, but ultimately the responsibility lies with the individual. Just my opinion.
  25. So that absolves James of being egotistical? My argument wasn't against ESPN. It was against James as a human being and his lack of integrity last night.
