  1. Whatever Frogtown.
  2. I still have a few days before I leave but I will be heading to Janesville this weekend from the Twin Cities. Is their any issues with the Hwy from say Tomah up to Madison on 94? Just need to know if I should be planning an alternate route instead of making one up on the fly Saturday morning.
  3. Tennies might be the worst word ever.
  4. Grab a few drinks and go see Avenue Q. You can thank me later.
  5. I was at the press screening for it a few weeks ago and enjoyed it quite a bit. Not sure if it will even be playing in Madison, but I am fairly certain it will play at The Oriental in Milwaukee.
  6. Shockwave was a notorious maintenance nightmare. It was shutdown on almost a daily basis for small intervals to keep it up to safety standards. As fun as the ride was, I can't imagine that it wasn't a rather big drain on the park budget.
  7. I was going out of 10. So somewhere between orange and red, but not at the white hot rage that comes with Roth and his followers.
  8. Watched Stuart Gordon's new film Stuck yesterday. It's a bit different then many of his films, but still heavy in gore and humor. Evidently I was the only person at the screening who had seen any of his movies. Though a couple remembered Re-Animator. General consensus was that people liked it, though they didn't really know what kind of a film they were watching. For me it felt more like Gordon was trying to challenge his own fan base rather then draw in any new ones, which I found both interesting and a bit risky. On the EDR scale of hate it will probably warrant a 6. Certainly irksome, but not enough so to warrant starting an entire thread about it.
  9. Minneapolis s one of the most progressive cities in the country when it comes to aiding bikers. Their are paths all over the city and downtown they have dedicated lanes so they don't have to bike in traffic. Needless to say, the majority of bikers ignore using these lanes and paths and bike in the road while violating nearly every traffic law that can be thought of. My favorite is watching bikers bike side-by-side on a street holding up traffic when they have a dedicated path right alongside the road. I have even had my car punched by a biker because I was yielding to oncoming traffic as I was going to make a left turn and they didn't like that I wasn't turning into oncoming traffic to get out of their (the bikers) way. It is a joke how ridiculous bikers act here in Minneapolis.
  10. The bikers in Minneapolis are awful, and this is from someone who has spent much of the last decade biking to work.
  11. So he should get a contract extension by what ... August?
  12. The trailers for Get Smart are terrible. They lack any of the polish or biting satire that made the TV show so much fun. I'll be stunned if it is anything but aimless filler. Tropic Thunder, OTOH, just released a redband trailer that is outstanding. It's risky as hell, and Robert Downey Jr looks like he is going to give a comedic performance of epic proportions. It looks like a film that is going for broke and trying to push boundaries, where as Get Smart just seems like a tired recycled concept hoping to cash in on nostalgia.
  13. Up until the skull started talking it was a solid film, CGI prairie dogs notwithstanding. After that it just became a CGI filled mess that found a way to waste talents like Ray Winstone, John Hurt and Cate Blanchett. Even just cutting the Tarzan scene would have helped a ton in the long run. Not sure why so much hate for Episode I, as Episode II was by far the worst of the prequels. Also not sure why people are excited about Get Smart, that thing has bomb written all over it. Hellboy II and Tropic Thunder are easily my two most anticipated summer movies, with Wanted a distant third.
  14. His blades could bend/break. He can still suffer all sorts of other common injuries like stitches, strains and muscle pulls anywhere else on his body, including his thighs. Using the blades isn't more energy efficient then legs, and in all probability more inefficient, so whatever "advantage" he gains by not having his lower legs are easily made up for by the blades.
  15. <----- Assistant manager at a movie theater and freelance writer.
  16. I thought they only hired bass players?
  17. Perhaps you have an unnatural fear of scurvy?
  18. No, I wonder why Evil Dead 2 is currently being held up as superior film making. By who? I mean seriously. I'd even argue that the majority of people who watch Evil Dead II don't even like it. It's just kind of an "in" thing to like nowadays because Raimi is now so well known. And even Raimi's avid fans can be discounted simply because they are biased, kind of like how your top 10 films of all-time is entirely comprised of Kurosawa films. Though I must admit Ikiru would be much improved if it only had a disembodied hand running around throughout the course of it.
  19. So you are wondering why Evil Dead 2 has such mainstream appeal while High and Low doesn't? Ransom cleared $300 mil, how much more Kurosawa love do you want from the masses?
  20. Nothing like a backdoor double entendre to class up a thread.
  21. I know when my father was getting his Masters and Doctorate while I was growing up he would basically lock himself in a room for an hour every night and my mom and the rest of us kids were not allowed to bother him at all.
  22. It isn't chronic fatigue syndrome, it's plain and simple exhaustion. JB works ~60 hours over the course of three days then tries to catch up on sleep the other four. That type of uneven and grueling schedule will play absolute havoc with your body, and the exhaustion is his body's way of telling him it needs sleep.
  23. I would assume it is all directly related to your work schedule. Starving your body of sleep for any length of time is going to cause exhaustion problems.
  24. Darren Ford has 5 stolen bases through 6 innings so far. Good grief.
