  1. Use hair conditioner on your face before you shave. Let it sit for about 5 minutes and you shouldn't have any more problems with neck burn.
  2. I can't see the Derby changing the running surface anytime soon. Racing enthusiasts are so set on "tradition" that they will ignore anything that might actually improve the sport or the wellfare of the horses.
  3. Seeing this in a few hours then hitting up my local shop for Free Comic Book Day. I owe my girlfriend after this.
  4. MLB Power Pros is an outstanding Wii sports game. I can't harp on it enough. Also, best adventure platform game out right now is Mario Galaxy. If your girlfriend likes Crash she'll like Galaxy, probably Paper Mario as well. And to contradict Russ The Godfather game for the Wii is not a sequel, is a great game, and actually happens to be the highest reviewed of all the platform versions. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif Their were valid complaints about the lack of games for the Wii for the first year or so, but they are now starting to churn out some good stuff to play on a fairly regular basis.
  5. My father is fairly high up at Deere. The company has been very good to my family, and pretty much every other that has worked for them.
  6. I have never minded the drive from Waterloo to Dubuque. It's rolling hills, but not more then 45 min to an hour tops to make it. The scenery really isn't much different then driving from Milwaukee to Madison. It certainly isn't as bad as Indiana.
  7. When did Huntsville relocate to High Desert?
  8. Don't get a seat anywhere on the firstbase side. The seats all face the baggie in RF and you'll spend the entire game twisted in your seat just so you can see the infield. It's kind of like the modern equivalent of the Chinese Water Torture.
  9. They have only found 4 smiley faces. It's not like they were at every site. On top of that this story was circulated on the first two days of sweeps, the detectives who are pushing this theory also claim they have enough evidence to make an arrest yet they are also on record soliciting funds to continue their investigation. Another interesting note is the reporter who "broke" this report doesn't even care if the detectives are right. Wha? At least she is getting appearances on 20/20, ABC, and MSNBC to fill that integrity void though.
  10. My parents now live in Dubuque and I grew up in Cedar Rapids. I've been to and thru Waterloo dozens of times and it seems like a decent enough small town. They've certainly cleaned up the city from what it was in the 80's when my father commonly referred to it as the "armpit of the Midwest".
  11. Corn syrup is the devil. If you simply drink water instead of any soda/redbull/beer you can shed pounds fairly easily.
  12. Saying you clearly dislike Weeks only infers that you don't think much of him as a player. I never said anything close to you having a vendetta against him or that you are a Cubs fans. And continually blowing things out of proportion certainly isn't helping you at all in my eyes. As for aggressively attacked: There is no way a sane person can believe that. That on top of your comments towards me is ample evidence that you like to sling mud around when someone disagrees with you. As an added bonus your last post was dripping with condescension. Consider this your first strike.
  13. I inferred neither. Yet you continue to aggressively attack anyone who contradicts your opinions. How interesting.
  14. I'm trying to understand why anyone would name themselves after a player they clearly dislike.
  15. Already covered at LambeauLeap.
  16. Looks like you might be getting your wish, as Twilight Watch has been killed.
  17. And they beat Chinese Democracy by what, 8 years? They can slough off for the better part of another decade and still beat that record to the shelves.
  18. I know that was the excuse why the Best Foreign Films were such a mess this year. Persepolis was only eligible in Best Animated Film, while The Diving Bell and the Butterfly was only eligible for Best Picture. I really wish they would publish all the rules so people would know what is going on. That all being said, their really is no excuse for Ran not being nominted. Arguably no his best film, at the time it certainly was one of his most accessible films to Western audiences. But at least Kurosawa is in some nice company when it comes to being snubbed at the Oscars.
  19. Don't ask for link exchanges in any comments you leave. Just find other blogs/sites that you like and make your presence known there. Most places now allow you to link to your blog when you comment, so you will see some traffic from those sites. As you get more well known people that share your opinion will start trickling in through your comments. It is a slow process, but it does work. Any link exchanges you want to do simply email the contact for the site and ask if they would like to exchange links. If they don't know who you are they will probably look through your site and see if they like your content. If they do they will agree, and if they don't they won't. But most places are pretty friendly and happy to add you to their links. I think danzig makes some very good points, neophyte blog reader or not. Your site is going to stand on your opinions so you should make them stand out in any way you can. A very simple way at first to do that would be to italicize any of the content you are citing, that way your opinions are quite easy to find for even a novice reader of your blog. Aggregating the news items is a useful service, but your main competition is going to be from the local newspapers, so you need to find a way to differentiate yourself from them. Also, you don't really need to have a list of sources in your sidebar. You can just provide the link to the specific source in each post when you cite the sources there. That will help trim down your sidebar column, and should lessen your workload for updating.
  20. My girlfriend hates any spices that are hot so when she heads out of town I usually make something she wouldn't be able to eat. Most commonly penne pasta with vodka sauce (depending on how much prep time I have I sometimes make my own sauce). Then I add spicey italian sauasage, mushrooms, and pepperocini's to the sauce. My other favorite meal I make is one I can't make just for myself and that is a pesto chicken sandwich. I buy chicken breasts and slice them into small strips and use a pesto glaze on them before pan frying them. Then add sliced moserella and roma tomatos and you are good to go. Typically use ciabatta bread if I can find it, but pretty much any hard bread will work fine. Thankfully I can cook, because my girlfriend can make chipped beef on toast and that's about it.
  21. General etiquette is that you site in the post the specific blog post you are citing. To boost traffic and startup a link exchange you should comment on other blogs, cite sources in your posts (which pingback to other sites) and any sites you like email them to see i they want to exchange links or possibly have them write a post about your site.
  22. I'm pretty sure Ran was up for Best Foreign Film, which makes it ineligible to be nominated for Best Film. It is a horrible and archaic rule that really needs to be removed.
