  1. This ump has now called two strikes this inning that were balls for Hader. Poo.
  2. Arcia's lucky the guy didn't slide feet first. That's a good way to wreck an ankle.
  3. With this strike zone why even swing unless you have 2 strikes?
  4. I think I'd rather they try and trade for a future first rounder. Not sure who is a good trade partner but I'd like future assets rather than trying trade up this year.
  5. Gatewood's May line after yesterday's performance: .324/.358/.514
  6. What's old is new... I blame Ned Yost. Regardless of situation he would not put a guy in unless it was "his inning". So 7th inning guy could not pitch in 6th, 8th inning guy in 7th, and God forbid we bring in the closer in the 8th. Roenicke was just as bad.
  7. Man it'd be great if Ramirez could make it up to the bigs at some point. He is banging on the door for a promotion to CS soon.
  8. He'd be a good candidate for one of Jeff Sullivan's deep dives on Fangraphs.
  9. I'm sure his stats will adjust going forward but there are some interesting things going on. Compared to last year his line drive % is up, his walk rate is up, his GB% is way down and his fly ball % is way up. His ISO (which takes singles out of the equation essentially) is up. His launch angle has increased significantly and his exit velocity is is up. His "soft" hits are way down, his "medium" hits are way up, and his "hard" hits are way down. So his BABIP does not appear to be inflated by seeing eye grounders but rather soft line drives I guess. Taking all that with a grain of salt due to small samples and what not but I'd be comfortable in saying he won't regress to the point where he's not an .900 OPS player.
  10. I feel like projection systems have always had a tough time figuring out how much value bullpens provide. Certainly could explain some of the variance. Also, Josh Hader is the best Brewer of all time. Also, the Brewers are in 1st place.
  11. True, but when he's hit more home runs by May 17, 2018 than he had in all of 2016 or 2017 then it's ok to get a little bit excited.
  12. Be cool if you could find splits for college baseball. I don't think that exists.
  13. Have you reached out to Brewers communications dept?
  14. If the alternative is the indignity of being DFA'ed, he might give a few million back. I'm more concerned with using a roster spot on a first-place small market team with no top-40 players at this point. Can't afford to waste a precious spot. There are 5 obvious guys who are a much better use of a roster spot at this point, but you can also make a strong case that Choi, Phillips, and Perez are priorities over Braun, for various reasons, even when one of those 5 is hurt. ETA: Braun did look like a guy who sees the writing on the wall in that video where he talked about being willing to play 1B or 2B. Watch it again and look at his sagging eyes and his forced smile, where he normally has a confident, stoic poker face. The Brewers' moves in the off-season said a lot about what they think of his long-term future with the team IMO, and I think he sees it. He looks like a defeated old man. Well they tried to trade him so obviously he's not part of the long range plans. Plus he's 34.
  15. Bucks hired Mike Budenholzer to be head coach per Woj Twitter Bomb.
  16. I actually think she does a pretty good job. Those "sideline" reporters have a tough gig.
  17. Over Chacin's last six starts he's 5 - 1 with an ERA of 2.62 and a batting average against of .185 He's probably getting a tad lucky with a BABIP of .212 over that span but some of that might be due to weak contact - I didn't check that far into it. I'll take his overall numbers for a #4 any day.
  18. I bet Corbin is hurt. FB topping out at 89mph. Averaged 92 last year.
  19. I said the same thing about Michael Brantley once upon a time. Different players obviously.
  20. If Wilkerson makes one MLB start it will mean the Brewers fleeced the Sox on the Aaron Hill trade.
  21. Peralta threw 120 innings last year. He's at roughly 40 this year. So assuming they bump him up about 30% he'd hit 160 or so this year. Just adding this as part of the discussion since it may play into how they use him later on in the year.
