  1. Devin Williams with a nice start. He's putting together a pretty good season. Looking forward to following him in the second half.
  2. He actually says it after the Prince home run which has been linked to earlier in the thread.
  3. Anyone watching/watched Sense8?
  4. Send him down. If he mashes you can always bring him back up.
  5. People harping on personal responsibility need to take inventory next time they go to a game: do you really pay attention to each and every pitch? All 250+ of them? I doubt it. Even the old timers that keep score and listen to Uecker on their 1989 Sony Walkman miss a pitch while tallying up some random stat or updating their scorebook when a hit is changed to an error. Also, I don't care who you are if you have less than a second to react you aren't always going to get out of the way regardless of whether or not you are paying attention. The most expensive seats at the ballpark are behind netting. No one would stop coming to games if they extended it out past the dug out.
  6. Betts gone. Time to trade down.
  7. Maybe he was compensating for the injury and his mechanics got screwy.
  8. I'll take a high school bat over a college arm any day at that point in the draft. Aiken would have been interesting but I don't think the Brewers are a team that can risk a pick on a guy like that. Some bigger market with money to burn will probably take him.
  9. Cubs sure love those 1st round position players.
  10. I feel incredibly old when I see the birth dates for these guys
  11. I'm guessing they'll do it eventually and won't see a decrease in attendance as a result. I also think they'll come up with some kind of super thin but super strong netting that is basically see through.
  12. I don't disagree with the idea that an arena probably isn't a catalyst for economic development. What I do know is that the NBA is a global brand. Much more so than baseball or football. People in rural China probably know who Giannis is. They have no clue who Ryan Braun is. You can't really put a price on selling "Milwaukee" to a global audience. Or if you can, I haven't seen a dollar figure.
  13. Apparently they are revealing the financing plan for the new arena today at 3:15pm
  14. Gallo, Bryant, Harper - all 23 years or younger, all from Las Vegas.
  15. Not sure Taylor was our worst. Sal Bando was pretty horrible as GM. Bando was brutal. Absolutely brutal. Some of his decisions were mind boggling. He picked Antone Williamson with the 4th pick of the draft. I remember reading one GM or scouting director type said he had Williamson ranked as a 3rd or 4th rounder. Why'd Sal want him so bad? Williamson was a 3B from Arizona State. And Bando was what? A 3B from ASU. For some reason Sal became enamored with the guy and insisted on taking him. Bando was awful but I wonder how much of that was Selig tightening the purse strings on him.
  16. Even amid rumors that the Sounds were poised to drop the Brewers for a partnership with the Oakland A's, Melvin heard the same. He says the Brewers offered to play preseason exhibition games in Nashville, and even to invest in the club if it helped move the sides toward an extension of their PDC. Those overtures were declined without explanation, according to Melvin. He says he asked Sounds ownership three weeks ago, "If you're leaning toward not having us, just give us a heads up so we don't lose out on something else." "There was one out there that we would have liked to have gone to, we might have been able to go to," Melvin said, "and now we lost out on it." http://m.brewers.mlb.com/news/article/95157658/brewers-general-manager-doug-melvin-miffed-by-breakup-with-triple-a-affiliate
  17. Yeah, Nashville sort of boned the Brewers big time.
  18. Article detailing how the Shuckers new stadium is funded using oil spill reparations: https://sports.vice.com/en_us/article/biloxis-crude-deal-oil-spill-reparations-are-funding-a-baseball-stadium-in-mississippi/?utm_vicesportstwitter
  19. the "true fan" argument is about as grating as the "obviously you never played ball" argument
  20. I'm sure you can find countless examples of this kind of thing on any team that struggles for an extended period of time.
