  1. Must have fixed that elbow thing this year.
  2. I really think this has more to do with the hitters' tendencies (or skill, if you want to call it that) than whether or not our pitchers are intentionally padding the opponent's OBP. Fielder and Weeks have always gotten HBP a ton...even under dirt kickin', 360-f-bomb Ned, as well as with all of their minor league managers. It's almost always the same guys at the top of the HBP leaderboards, and it doesn't matter who their manager is.
  3. edit: ^^^^ because Ankiel is the next Kieschnick! Yikes, Keith Ginter and Byung-Hyun Kim both play for the team Prior signed with.
  4. The other thing is that, during the offseason, more teams will see themselves as possible contenders. This year, there are a ton of good teams who are 7+ GB, so they probably weren't interested in giving up much right now. But next year, who knows...they may all be thinking "well, 2010 was a disappointment, but if we could get one more bat, we could win the division" this offseason.
  5. I'm happy that we're getting lots of free baserunners and not giving away free baserunners.
  6. I am not motivated to move __________.
  7. Don't give her any pointers, and everything will be ok. Pointers make people hate golf.
  8. KAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHNNNNN!!!! oh wait, wrong team...right?
  9. Gadzuric was 27 when he signed that contract*, so he really shouldn't have been considered a prospect at that point. Heck, Gooden is only a year older than that now, and he's had a pretty long track record already. I have no doubt Gooden will decline, but I doubt he'll come anywhere near Gadz-like levels of uselessness. Fun fact: Zaza is *still* younger than Gadz was when that extension was signed.
  10. It's hard to say exactly, but it seems that there's some element on the page that won't fully load. When I bring up a page, it will say "45/45 Elements" in my address bar (which normally goes away once a page is fully loaded). While this is happening, I can't click on links and page scrolling is slow. If I hit the stop button, everything is normal, until I try to load another page. Opera has its own firebug-like console add-on, and according to that, everything appears to be downloading successfully. The error list is all css syntax errors, which I'm guessing are mostly normal, browser-specific workarounds. There are a few other sites that behave this way in Opera, so its not just Yuku. Pages load very quickly if I disable javascript, but unfortunately, that's not much of an option these days.
  11. I think Gooden's primary role is going to be PF, but he's probably the most qualified to play C when Bogut is not on the court. No point in signing a generic 7' stiff, most of them aren't much better than having nobody out there. I feel pretty comfortable with Gooden/Sanders/Brockman at backup C. At least, it sounds better than what we've had in recent years.
  12. Yeah, while the 2011 FA list isn't super impressive, I do see quite a few players who might be good fits for the Bucks.
  13. I use Opera, but I usually keep firefox open for certain sites that don't work right (including these forums).
  14. If Redd is traded, we'll need to take a contract back in return. Best case scenario IMO is if somebody desperately wants to make a run for Carmello next summer, and offers a borderline all star on a long term deal at the deadline for Redd's expiring contract. Otherwise, it may be wiser to just let it expire. Either way, I don't think we'll see anything happen this summer.
  15. If they're not under contract, no. Dallas does hold rights to a couple of guys drafted recently that are playing in Europe (link), so that might be what he was referring to. They also have a direct affiliation with an expansion D-League club, so they may also use the "waive and hope nobody else grabs him first" strategy with a few guys. edit: oddly, the Bucks still have a rights to a couple of European players that were drafted in the mid-90s. I don't even know if they're still playing.
  16. D-League assignees count toward the 15. However, some teams with a close relationship with their D-League affiliate will occasionally waive a guy with the agreement that he signs with that team, and then gives him a 10-day contract later if needed. The Rockets and Spurs do this a lot.
  17. If I'm understanding correctly, there are two routers (one that is also the modem and actually does the routing, the other being the wireless router that only acts as an access point) and a switch? And they can get to the internet when connected directly to the modem? If that's the case, I'd first connect the switch to the modem, a computer to the switch, and nothing else. If that works, I'd point to the wireless router/access point. It kinda sounds like the wireless access point may have gotten reset to defaults, which would likely cause DHCP and/or IP conflicts. If so, you'll probably just have to disconnect it from everything, and go in and reconfigure it.
  18. Bucks have added the Chinese Magic Johnson, aka Sun Yue, to the summer league roster. POINT GURAD WOAH SOLVDD (he also sucks)
  19. They do seem to have odd service areas. I can get it, but my coworker who lives two blocks down the street can't.
  20. The Braves are definitely selling low and buying high, but from what I've been reading today, most Braves fans seem to be fine with it. I guess they're pretty tired of Escobar's streakiness at the plate, and they think his defense is been pretty awful.
  21. Wow, Tim Collins is smaller than me. His numbers are ridiculous, though. 15.3 K/9, 3.3 BB/9!
  22. I don't think we necessarily have to find one single smoking gun to explain Gamel's poor second half. He declined dramatically in the second half of '08 as well. It happens to a lot of players, especially young ones. I'm also not sure that I follow where this perception of Macha playing favorites with veterans is coming from. There have been many counterexamples mentioned in this thread, and none (other than Gamel) that support that statement. If I were the manager, and I had to choose a lineup based solely off of performance, I would have gone with Counsell, McGehee, and Gamel, in that order. So to me, its not really a shocker that those first two saw more playing time. As a fan, I wanted to see Gamel play every day, but I get that it wouldn't have made the most sense for a team in win-now mode. Now, keeping a 3rd-string 3B on the roster...that's very questionable, but I can see where they were coming from.
  23. See if you can trade it to a Twolves fan for Ramon Sessions and Al Jefferson jersies
  24. Weird, I figured Hart would start in CF. He's actually played 50 games or so there, Ethier hasn't ever in the majors or minors, as far as I'm aware.
