  1. I still can't believe we are pitching this way.Even with Obie stinking up the joint,we are 5th in baseball ERA.It has been so long since we had a good pitching staff,i kept waiting for the collapse to start. I'm sold, these guys are good. What a pleasure to watch, now if we could just get some power out of the lineup.
  2. I was hoping Jenkins would take a few more pitches and try to work a walk Yea right,Jenkins is as patient as a virgin on prom night. Wanted to add,Jenkins now has 2 walks in his last 8 games.
  3. Way to swing at ball 3 Jenkins
  4. Friggin Jenkins swinging at 3 crap pitches way out of the zone. Will he ever learn.
  5. Santos reminds me more of Phillip Michael Thomas of Miami Vice fame.I like his cocky swagger, you just know the dude spends quite a bit of time in the mirror before taking the field. This isn't one of those i love to get my uniform dirty type of guys,i picture him cleaning his nails in between innings while Sheets is knawing his nails to the size of slivers..
  6. This series just shows how much the pitching has carried this team.If our pitching isn't on it's game the offense has no ability to score enough runs to win a high scoring game.
  7. How shocking that Helms hacks at every pitch and strands the guy at third.
  8. The bench was pretty much bone dry. When you carry 13 pitchers you really can end up shorthanded on pinch hitters some games and end up being forced to bat the worst hitter in baseball,Mr. Bennett. Bennett is making 600K this year, what a charmed dude.
  9. I missed the games, but we simply arent talented enough to be shocked or ultra upset over losing a double header to the Pirates. The Pirates at home own us like the Yanks own the Red Sox,i have no clue why,but stuff like this happens in baseball. These next two games are very important,a 4 game sweep would be a big time drag.Even if it happens though,i'm not as worried as in past years that the team wil go into a major tailspin.I think our pitching is solid enough to prevent it. Just please give little Ben a chance relatively soon.I know it's possible he could struggle, but i'm more than ready to try and get a set solution to the musical chair 5th starter each week. I did see the highlight of Grieve looking like Ben Sheets playing RF.He is just a brutal defensive OF,but i'd still rather he'd played over Clark.I do wonder though, after playing baseball for over 20 years, how Grieve managed to be so bad in the field. He reminds me of the scared dork in little league who has to play 2 innings and gets put in RF,you just pray a ball doesnt get hit to him.
  10. What a charmed life Bennett lives. The guy makes 600,000 bucks and hits like a pitcher. How in a country with 300 million people, backup catching scrubs like Bennett can keep a MLB job year after year is amazing.
  11. Plus it kept Bennett out of a DP When you blow as bad as Bennett does,a groundout that actually produces something productive has to be considered a major victory.Maybe he can catch some Coors field magic and get his OPS over .560.
  12. Yea great start by Capuano,he looks like he hides the ball well and it explodes on hitters more than his mph on the radar gun says it should.Pretty amazing how the pitching staff outside of Obie just keeping turning out one good start after another.
  13. He's got some raw skills, and I think he could eventually become a better pitcher I hope i'm wrong, but i see very little future for Wes.He doesnt throw hard and none of his secondary pitches are exactly above average,he's just kinda there. He doesnt get strikeouts and gives up a boatload of hits, that's what you get from guys with very below average stuff. I dont fault the trade much that brought him here, but it's a bust, those often happen when trading mediocre relief pitchers.Maybe he goes down to Indy and keeps his career alive long enough to hang around the majors for some years, with this many teams even scrub pitchers often can get 12th man jobs that pay 6 figures.I wish him luck even if i don't like his odds, his pitches find way to many line drives.
  14. Working the count might get Santana out sooner, but i doubt it would lead to many more runs against him.Santana vs our sad lineup is like Shawn Bradley trying to guard Shaq.
  15. That baseball must look like the size of a beachball leaving Obie's hand, they are on everything he throws. If he starts another game, they need to explain how this line drive machine is our best option to win games.
  16. God i hate Obie, why does this scrub get so many chances to stink up the joint.Even most of the outs he gets are rockets that find a glove.
  17. Grieve's offensive contributions far outweigh his defensive shortcomings. I'd remove that word far He's a mediocre at best hitting corner OF who is dreadfull on defense,Brady is a sad hitting corner OF who is solid on defense. It's like deciding is you want Obie or Kinney as your 5th starter, you dont want either.
  18. Yea dumb move Nelson, but in the grand scheme of things it's a pimple compared to a gunshot wound. The offense is nearly devoid of power, can't score runs without it.
  19. After Toronto put up 13 runs,we should now have the 4th worst SLG% in baseball. Our offense consists of walks/singles and Overbay.
  20. Before the 0-10 their BATTING AVERAGE was .231, second to last in the NL That's what happens when your lineup is full of low batting average hitters.Outside of Overbay, the vast majority of the team is hitting .260 or under.
  21. I went to the game, tried out the club seating,it was nice having my own waitress. The only bad thing was the prices at the bar,4 rum and cokes set me back 36 dollars. The crowd size suprised me also since it was incredible outside, sunny and 75 while we tailgaited.I expected 17-20 K for the game given the weather, the team playing well, and it being buckhead night.
  22. Kolb is a machine Never K's anyone, yet nobody ever hits a ball hard off him.
  23. Games like this are why i love sports
  24. Rivas has been hot,in the last 10 days his OPS went from .585 to about .760.
  25. I don't like Kinney, but i really really really don't like Obermueller.Everytime i hear he will be starting,i always think our odds of winning take a dramatic drop.Drop him from the rotation please.
