  1. The question that we don't know is what limitations were placed on Yo's pitching during game 4. If Gallardo could only go 3 innings, on short rest, coming off an injury, then it's not as open-and-shut a question as to whether he should have started. I'm resigned to never knowing whether this was the case. My main gripes with Sveum were: keeping Hart in the lineup in the playoffs, even against RHP, and Bill Hall in the # 2 spot in the lineup against LHP (or ever). I was not a huge fan of Cameron leadoff, given his hitting of late, but as has been discussed ad nauseam here, there is no 'good' candidate to bat first right now.
  2. If you're going to hire a hitting coach with Brewers ties, why not the guy who's currently a hitting consultant for the SD Padres... Rob Deer. Regardless of your feelings for/against 3TO....if this is the type of offense the Brewers are building, suffice to say he knows how to play that way. Whether he can teach it is a different issue, but that's the question for every hitting coach. Third-hand, I'm told that Robin Yount referrs to Deer as the most knowledgable guy about the game of baseball that he's ever met.
  3. What about Prince's second inside-the-park HR?
  4. Looking at Nate's chart....I think McClung needs to be on more of a pitch count when he starts. That's Dusty Baker bad. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/wink.gif
  5. Battery Life = 4-6 hours for gaming; 4-5 hours for movies. (The PSP 3000 is the upcoming model of the PSP; I don't know the release date off-hand.) Beyond that, I have a hard time making recommendations for kids aged 4-6. My natural inclination would be to recommend the Nintendo DS, since I would expect it to have more 'age appropriate' games (ie., the kind of licensed stuff I wouldn't touch: Hannah Montana, Spongebob, etc.). I don't think battery life is as major a concern for the DS as it is the PSP. That said, the DS doesn't play movies, so there are some drawbacks as well. I would take a serious look at what games / movies are out there that you would buy for your kids before deciding. What They Play would be a good starting point for you; the site's founder used to be an editor for Electronics Gaming Monthly. (Note: Nintendo, in the past week, announced an updated revision to the DS: The DSi will have larger screens, two low-grade digital cameras, built-in web browsing, and is replacing the GBA cartridge slot with an SD card input. It's also not coming out in the U.S. until April 09 at the earliest, so feel free to ignore all the news stories you see about it.)
  6. ...once again, Corey Hart finds a way to look like a little-leaguer.
  7. Holy cantaloupes.
  8. Extra Credit for Sveum for knowing the rulebook!
  9. Great game by Bush tonight. And I don't care if a lefty takes the mound in all of the remaining games; I want Hart benched.
  10. Are you sure that's not just the aftermath of said pot-smoking?
  11. Agreed. 3 runs spread over 2 games isn't going to lead to a lot of wins, regardless of the pitching and defense.
  12. Does anyone else think that the shape/direction of the offensive overhaul will depend heavily on what happens to the Brewers pitching staff? Without CC and Sheets, it would be a lot easier to justify dropping the option on Cameron, and taking a look at players like Gamel (RF? 3b?) or Escobar (IF). Gallardo Parra Suppan Bush McClung / Capuano Is that good enough to win the WC in '09? I'm all in favor of defense and OBP, but I think it's far too early to figure out whether next year will be a rebuild or a reload season. The interim manager position may well be the first signpost along the way.
  13. Unless Corey hurt his eyes, any injury he has isn't affecting his biggest problem: a lack of plate discipline. When you swing at balls and take strikes, that's not a good combination....especially when you like to swing at the first pitch.
  14. Admittedly, he got squeezed quite a bit. But, in all fairness, C.C. could not keep the ball down, and the Phillies have hit a ton of pitches up in the zone (which is why they have so many XBH). Just disappointing.
  15. ...why couldn't he have done that to Hart in the first inning?
  16. The pitch-track on ESPN.com showed about 4-5 of CC's pitches right on the black of the strike zone(no change whatsoever left or right); half of them were called balls. Sickening.
  17. Read my mind. Interestingly, TBS didn't show us the tracking on that one.
  18. My apologies for typing this late, but I was in my car as it happened. I don't <3 Corey. First freaking pitch with the bases juiced, after walking in a run.
  19. I guess Jeff Bagwell stopped working out after he retired.
  20. Couldn't pull this one out at the end. At least the Brewers got a good look at Lidge's stuff. Can't believe we lost without giving up an earned run.
  21. Can someone please tell the Brewers how to hit a change-up?
  22. Taking a half-day off from work.
  23. No posts from last week...anyone else still watching? My general feeling still hasn't changed; I wish that I liked (or could feel anything for/against) the characters on the show. Last night's was the least procedural, and started to introduce even more of an X-Files-y dynamic to the show.
