  1. He's married now, so he's going to understand what really goes on in life as far as a man and a woman. Sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn't. At the point Prince understands that, I think our relationship is going to be a lot better. This is the part that I just can't get out of my head. Is Cecil suggesting that Prince will understand after he gets divorced....or just when he knows people other than his parents who've been divorced? That said, at least Cecil is working now....even if he is the Manager of an Indy league team in Atlantic City (of all places), the process servers will know where to find him.
  2. Insert Annual griping about the "virtual waiting room" here....how hard would it be to upgrade their capacity? It's not like they didn't know this was coming!
  3. So, how quickly does the line at the ballpark die off? I'm trying to decide between driving to the park Saturday morning v. just ordering online or over the phone. (Considering the $3 / ticket "convenience fee" online, I can get more tickets for the same price just by making the drive.) That said, if it takes 3 hours to get through the line, I'll probably get better tickets by ordering online.
  4. Plus, they're metric. ...and speak French.
  5. If I remember the J-S online story, he won't be taking any questions today.
  6. There are a few sites that keep track of all the items listed on Woot; this is the one I use. That being said, I've never actually placed an order on Woot; the closest I've come is to the final order pages on a BoC (...it didn't go through).
  7. http://www.jsonline.com/story/index.aspx?id=718149 As for Indiana....didn't a guy who used to coach there for a long time....just leave his current job? (The timing it almost a bit too coincidental, IMO.)
  8. You can show up at the polling place (in Wisconsin) in order to vote....but....you have to bring with you something to validate your address (piece of delivered mail showing your name and address). Thank you for keeping this apolitical, BTW.
  9. Until I heard that it was Amy Winehouse who sang the song "Rehab," I assumed it was being sung by Lauryn Hill. (Whatever happened to Hill anyway....did she even make a second album after winning the Grammy? Needless to say, I wasn't a fan.)
  10. Is that a 'TV Land' logo behind him? I'm going to guess he's a former child-actor. (My guess was Eddie from the Munsters....but it doesn't look like the IMDB photo.)
  11. Want: Sheets, Yo, Suppan, Villanueva, Capuano (circa 2006 - I'd rather have the lefty in the rotation over Bush, other things being equal, for balance.) Expect: Sheets, Suppan, Yo, Capuano, Bush; Villanueva to pen, Vargas traded / waived
  12. I think you mean variance or deviation on runs / inning. Wouldn't the distribution (average) of runs / inning run parallel to ERA? http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/players/splits?statsId=7371&type=pitching3&three=1 Dave Bush is at his worst in the first inning of a game. Here's the OPS against breakdown by # of pitches thrown: 1-15: .952 16-30: .805 31-45: .690 46-60: .711 61-75: .682 76-90: .724 91-105: .811 106-120: 1.077 It's almost parabolic: he struggles early, then settles in, and starts to fall off around 90 pitches. That he gets less effective later on in games isn't all that surprising, but I don't think that his first inning / first 15 pitches numbers are typical around the majors. (His ERA in 2007 over pitches 1-15 was nearly twice the team average, FWIW.) I don't know if he gets hit around more than most 5+ ERA pitchers, but I have to believe that he was worse in those early innings than most of them have been. (Ironically, the only player on the 2007 Brewers worse in the first 15 pitches and innings 1-3 than Dave Bush was Claudio Vargas.)
  13. Looking at his game log, he delivered a quality start less than half the time (15 out of 31, by my count). That's not exactly great for a starter. I think that quality starts are somewhat telling for Bush; in his non-quality starts, the team went 3-13. All ten of Bush's wins as a starting pitcher came in quality starts (against 2 losses, both of which were shutouts by the other starter; his other 2 wins came in relief). Other notables: he went 5-3 when throwing more than 100+ pitches. I think that's also telling with Dave Bush. For him to get into triple-digit pitch counts, he needs to not burn himself out with high-pitch innings early-on. To some extent, it's a measure of his ability to avoid the "big inning" that really plagued him last year. As a groundball pitcher, it will be interesting to see whether the improved defense will help lower his numbers as well (his BA against jumped to .290 last season, .021 higher than his worst season to-date, and a .038 jump over 2006). He seems a decent candidate for a bounceback year, provided he can keep his spot in the rotation (which isn't a given).
  14. 1) Matt LePay is my one-man support group; without him, I couldn't get through Big Ten Network basketball season. 2) Wayne Larivee would be first, as he's a great announcer....but "The Dagger" thing just bothers me. 3) Brian Anderson is solid and calls a decent game, but there's no spark to his calls, IMO. I don't really watch/listen to anyone else, so unless we start talking color commentary (Larry McCarren gets points for being the one guy who actually watches and consistently talks about line play....and for the power of one-word exclamations) that's all I've got.
  15. There was nothing exciting about the halftime show. Petty did the songs you'd have expected....and they sounded decent but not great. Unfortunately, I don't know that we'll ever see anything better than a low-risk, B- halftime show for the next decade. I do wonder whether Mtv's halftime debacle has pushed the networks away from any under-40s artists. I'd love to see a band on the upswing play a halftime show again (then again, I'd just love to see someone like The Killers do a SB halftime).
  16. The Orange Box Team Fortress 2 (online only, class-based FPS), and Portal (action / puzzle game -- most enjoyable experience I've had in years) alone would be worth the $50-60 pricetag. You also get one of the consensus greatest PC shooters of all time in Half Life 2, PLUS the first two episodic follow-ups to HL2. I have Assassin's Creed as well, but TF2 has pulled me in so far that I still haven't taken AC out of its case. (And I'm not a guy who usually likes first-person shooters!) I'm sure that I'll eventually pick up Uncharted as well as Rachet & Clank, but there's too much gameplay to pass up that Orange Box. (Note: Valve - the games' developer - handled the PC -> 360 port, but left the PS3 version up to EA. The load times are considerably better on XBox 360, FWIW, and the framerate drops during some parts of HL2. Allegedly, a patch is in the works to fix the framerate problems. Both the PS3 and 360 are getting the free, downloadable maps for TF2 that are already available on the PC.)
  17. SPOILERS (If that's really necessary) You're absolutely right: dead people showing up to slap you in the face, and then being willed into disappearing is the type of thing that's so commonplace we need not even speak of it. I'm intrigued by the concept that the Island is calling the "Oceanic Six" back. First off, who are the six? (We've seen Jack, Hurley, and Kate...who would still have those nasty criminal charges....but who are the other three?) Then, considering Hurley went with Locke instead of Jack and Kate....how was he brought back to the mainland? Jacob's house also played a disappearing act, which was a bit surprising (does it have a set location; shouldn't have been between the beach and where the rest of the survivors were).
  18. Honestly, you'd have been better off burning your music files (both musicmatch and iTunes) into audio CD's, as you could then have ripped them back into .mp3 files and stripped off all the copy protection (what's known in the tech circles as "the analog hole"). Going forward, you might be able to contact MusicMatch and attempt to regain authorization / re-download your files. By and large, it depends on what DRM partnerships the company had when you bought the music.
  19. Steak & Hamburger both come from cows. Case closed.
  20. I like 'Top Chef' on Bravo, but I just don't have a frame of reference for Project Runway.
  21. Looking at my total, I must have hit 3k a few months ago. I didn't realize it was that reason for celebration. (I honestly don't look at my post count unless someone else brings it up.)
  22. I've said it ever since the "Take Back Miller Park" initiative started. If Joe Brewerfan (.net) will go to X number of Brewers games every year, would the front office rather have that fan go to: (1) The games in which they're crowding out other fans (ie, Cubs games that will sell out regardless of whether this class of fan attends); or (2) The games against teams that don't have nearly as much of a traveling draw as the Cubs do. Heck, the whole point in having a 'premium' tier of ticket prices is to incentivize attendance at the other games. (If the Brewers thought it would raise revenue, all games would be priced at the premium value.) Every time a Brewers fan chooses a non-marquee game over a Brewers-Cubs game, they are adding to their full season attendance.
  23. With 6 picks before the end of round 2, and a closer signed to a 1-year contract, I think the Brewers might take a serious look at getting a college closer in the "Mini-Moneyball" draft. ...and I can't help but wonder what GagneCY03 thinks of the Brewers' new closer.
  24. Websites like CAG get copies of the Sunday for Best Buy, Circuit City, Target, etc. before the Sunday that they go into effect. If the Wii is in the weekly ads, the big box retailers hold any new inventory for that Sunday. That's the reason I have a Wii.
  25. First Trade = Brewers Trade Capuano/Mench for Rolen
