  1. I really enjoyed Bourne Ultimatum when I caught it at the Majestic opening weekend. My only complaints with the plot, is that the setup felt like a bit more of the same, and that I didn't like the setup for the incident in Tangiers(?) with the CIA computer. (I think that's about as much description I can provide while remaining non-descript.) ...well, that, and the dialog of the phone call with Landy changed from the end of Supremacy (which I watched again on Sunday). Nobody crashes a car like Jason Bourne. (Just to bring it up....anyone else find themselves watching significantly more movies in the theater this year than in previous summers? I went to at least 6...and I'm probably forgetting another one or two.)
  2. Don't know if I'm getting it today, but I do plan on getting a copy for the PS3 this week. PSN: Milwaukee Brewers http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/happy.gif (I don't think I've ever actually mentioned that on the forums, come to think of it...)
  3. Why I'd rather have 1 more year of Geoff Jenkins, Exhibit A. Byrnes is 31, and is having his career year. He's hitting ~ .035 - .040 better than his career averages (which carries over to his OBP and SLG). Just last year, he was a sub-.800 OPS corner outfielder, a near perfect match of his career numbers. Does anyone really think he'll keep this production up over the life of the deal?
  4. Isn't this guy the reason that all the financial networks have had to step-up their disclaimer language on talking heads hyping up stocks they actually own? As far as I'm concerned, it's all schtick with this guy. If it were so heartfelt, he wouldn't have to stop and think of the next word to start yelling when the other talking head played things straight, and positioned herself as the voice of reason. (SHAMED! SHAMEFUL!) It's also somewhat telling that he seems less concerned with all the people losing their homes in the foreclosure market than he is with his industry friends potentially losing their jobs. Then again, if it weren't for the chicken little routine....no one would be passing this clip around Youtube. (Agree with JimH5, as I could easily see the host attempting to sell you a new mortgage in Gem Mint Ten condition....he might even show you it's value on eBay.)
  5. Can't say I get the negativity. Admittedly, they lost a game they shouldn't have on Sunday (I was there). OTOH, they won a game they probably shouldn't have on Saturday, and did just take a series from another team in the Wild Card hunt. Granted, they're going on the road, and the bullpen could use a day off....but this is a winnable series in Colorado. It's going to take Jenkins &/or Hall joining Braun & Fielder as run-producers. Likewise, the pitchers will have to keep the ball down, and let the starters go 6+ to help the pen. The bullpen fatigue is exactly why we're carrying so many relievers, and why they went after Linebrink (who looked superb yesterday).
  6. You can use any music. You just have to import the files into your itunes program. And you can rip cd's into your itunes library as well. Slight caveat: if you've purchased music from Napster, Wal-Mart, etc. in .wma format, you need to burn the songs to a CD and then rip them as .mp3 (or .aac -- but .mp3 will work on any player) before they'll play on an iPod. (In copyright terms, this is what's known as the "analog hole" in digital rights management.) I went from a 256mb RCA Lyra to a 30GB iPod (with video) and have never looked back. iTunes is the best reason to buy an iPod, IMO; I know there are other programs out there that would check for updates and download all of my podcasts (I subscribe to ~ 20), but Apple makes it simple. (...and that's coming from a PC guy; the iPod is the first and only Apple product I've ever purchased.) I did have an issue with the headphone jack on mine, but the extended warranty @ Best Buy took care of that.
  7. Just to point it out, isn't there a ML rule which prevents a player from being called up within 10 days of his being sent down (except in the case of injuries)? I only recall this rule coming up at the beginning of the season, so I'm not that certain on the particulars. In case anyone was wondering, Gross was sent down 7/21, and Gwynn on 7/25. My guess is that Dillon is getting a few days at the ML level as a bit of a reward, but ultimately as a place-holder for one of these two for a few days.
  8. Just caught Weird Al tonight (Wausau, WI). The guy does put on a great show. (It didn't hurt that I grew up listening to the guy....and I didn't realize how many of his songs I forgot I knew all the words to.)
  9. Based on the Inman trade....do we really need to do something that will increase people's attachment to the team's minor leaguers?
  10. http://i71.photobucket.com/albums/i144/bjkrautk/180px-ColonelAngus.jpg Time to get something going off Coutlangus.
  11. I'll start with the obvious question: what formats can the player read (I'm guessing .mp3 & .wma), and what format are the songs in. You might need to transcode the songs (particularly if you bought them from iTunes). Other potential problems: - Did the user's manual for the mp3 player set any size limits for the SD card? - I know that my old RCA Lyra required me to 'profile' the songs and re-index the files on the player before it could access them. You might need to do something similar. - The player might have a different directory for songs on the SD card. ...beyond that, I'd have to take a look at the owner's guide.
  12. Since I know it can't be that easy....I'll say a Bill Murray look-alike.
  13. I think I like this trade, actually. I'd rather have to give up Inman than one of our top 3 pitching prospects (who are, IMO, the 3 rookies on the 25-man roster: Yo, Villanueva, and...to a lesser extent, a healthy Parra). I also read Doug Melvin's comments as a guarantee that they'll be offering arbitration to Linebrink after the season. That's huge. If the Brewers lose out on both Linebrink and Cordero this off-season, they've at least set themselves up for a Moneyball-sized draft that will help keep the farm system well stocked for the future. I'm not willing to base this trade solely on Inman v. Linebrink....you have to look at what Linebrink brings to this team after '07 (either via contract extension or draft picks).
  14. About the only real buying tip I can give is that it's generally cheaper to buy RAM and install it yourself than it is to have additional memory pre-installed. (I recommend Crucial.com personally.)
  15. 2 points: 1) Lindsay needs to spend some time behind bars....and hire a driver. (She needs a Turtle to her Vincent Chase.) 2) Rachel McAdams is gorgeous as a blonde (Mean Girls), brunette (Wedding Crashers) or redhead (Red Eye). Anyone who says otherwise is just wrong.
  16. http://i71.photobucket.com/albums/i144/bjkrautk/180px-ColonelAngus.jpg (Someone else had to be thinking it...)
  17. I think he heard that Lindsay Lohan is going back to rehab, and wanted to get a head start. Disappointing news from a guy that I have high hopes for. (I almost typed that I hope to hear his side of the story. In truth, I just want there to be a "his side of the story.")
  18. Exhibit A as to why I don't want Adam Dunn in a Brewers uniform....ever.
  19. Corey....the previous batter just walked....feel free to take a pitch. (Nice slide by Weeks trying to break up the DP -- give him credit for playing even harder after getting benched.)
  20. Hart Hardy Fielder Braun Hall Jenkins / Mench Weeks Estrada / Miller [Pitcher] I'd at least like to see whether putting Prince and J.J. back-to-back would re-spark Hardy's power production from the early months of the season. Likewise, I'd prefer Hart batting in the middle of the order, where his power would lead to more RBI's...but he's one of the few players in the starting lineup to OBP well enough to hit in front of Prince and Braun (and, hopefully, Bill Hall).
  21. Actually, the PS3 supports considerably more media formats than you'd expect. You'll probably need to download a software package to stream them to PS3, however, since the default server (Windows Media Player) won't support the quicktime extensions (MPEG-4, h.264, etc.). I use TVersity personally. My one word of warning before you do start media streaming; I tend to get between 3-7 disconnects between the server & PS3 an hour. It's not a big deal for video podcasts (just back out, and you can usually jump back into the file where you left off), but if you're watching something more dramatic....it may take you out of the experience. If this is a problem, you should be able to stream a copy of the file over to your PS3, and then delete it when you're done viewing. I've watched a number of video podcasts this way over the past month or two since I learned how (including Flight of the Conchords ep. 1, to cross-reference a thread).
  22. A T-Shirt?!? The rotating lights are gone....is it over (without a BOC)?
  23. So do I have it right that when the 80gb version of the PS3 comes out it wont play PS2 games like the 60gb one did? If that is the case it might be worth getting the 60gb one so I can throw out the PS2. Sort of. The current PS3 comes with the PS2's hardware - the "Emotion Engine" - built in to its hardware in addition to the Cell processor. This means (for the most part) that any game capable of running on the PS2 should also run on the PS3. The 80GB version of the PS3 will use software to emulate the Emotion Engine. Sony is already using software emulation in the European version of the PS3 (which came out several months after the U.S. launch), with mixed results. Off-hand, I don't know whether 'game X' will run on the 80GB PS3....but I wouldn't be surprised if Wikipedia or one of the European gaming sites could give you a pretty decent approximation of what games will or won't work. Presumably, much like Microsoft and the XBox 360 (which uses a different vendor for the graphics hardware in the 360 than it did for the original XBox, and has always been using software emulation for backwards compatability), the list of PS2 games that can be supported on the new PS3 should grow over time.
  24. I've never tried .divx, but I have streamed unprotected .mp4 files (podcasts) to my PS3 over Wi-Fi; my only recommendation is to not use Windows Media Player as your server (since it can't handle the same media formats as the PS3). To me, the head-to-head comparisons are less important than the variety of titles. It seems like every big announcement for the 360 is a 1st / 3rd person shooter or a driving sim. Take a look at what's coming out on either system (exclusives mainly, but you can look for extra content on multi-platform games as well), and decide which interests you. For me, FF 13 pretty much made my decision for me. (That being said, one of the games that I had expected to be multi-platform - Beautiful Katamari - dropped the PS3 version, so recognize that things may change before release.) PS3 also has the advantage of being a Blu-Ray player, which I admit....I haven't used as much as I'd like. (Sony is actually also running a promotion for 5 free Blu-Ray movies with the purchase of any Blu-Ray player, including the PS3. It's an extremely limited list, so don't expect "Pirates of the Carribean" on there, but it at least allows the opportunity to show off your HDTV.
