  1. Fielder is still above average for NL 1B. With an average or below average 1B they're easily in the basement. And to echo FBBrewerFan, opposing teams have been incredibly careful about how they've pitched to Prince. I love the success that McGehee has been having, but I can't believe opposing team tactics would remain the same without Prince, or at least the threat of Prince hurting them in the lineup. Unless DM waves a magic wand, it's hard to see how pitching will enable the team will compete before Gallardo hits FA, much less the current core of the team.
  2. !!! What was Melvin thinking? Not surprising given his ability to throw from 3rd. Wonder if Wes Helms would be an upgrade to the bullpen?
  3. Who fired their manager this past week and hired Ned.....our expectations were higher than the Royals.....time to bring in our own Ned?Somehow, the concept of the "poor man's Ned Yost" brings shivers to my spine.

  6. Is it bad to hope this is one of Bush's bad starts where we win, rather than one of his good starts where we lose?
  7. Disaster narrowly averted. Is Joe Inglett that slow, or are the arms of Gillespie and Drew that good?
  8. How much longer is Midwest/Frontier the "Official" airline of the Brewers? Seems like their promotional expenditures have been dwarfed by Airtran. Reminds me of the Pabst/Miller wars in the 80's.
  9. Can't say I can argue with a bad strike zone if it results with 11K's for Yo and a W. Hope the confidence carries over to a normal strike zone, though.
  10. At least Carlos Gomez's angry reactions after he makes outs have been getting better.
  11. Dear Gregg Zaun, Please only make one out per at bat. Thanks,
  12. Barring disaster, plague, or snowstorm, we'll be there.
  13. Love that there is at least one jersey option, but wish they would have just changed the gray road jersey. Adding another jersey into the mix just seems like a way to sell more merchandise. And since the starting pitcher gets to choose which jersey the team wears, how often are we actually going to see this? I do remember hearing that the alt jersey was cooler in the summer months, so hopefully we'll see this a lot. To me, nothing says classic baseball jersey more then a road gray with the name of the locale in script lettters. http://exhibits.baseballhalloffame.org/dressed_to_the_nines/images/al_1985_milwaukee.gif
  14. Wow, haven't seen that one in a while. The game was July 16th, 2004, if anyone cares. My friend got us some insane tickets right behind the Brewers on-deck circle. Got some great pictures of Podsednik, a Brooks Kieschnick AB, and #8... Matt Erickson. It was truly a wondrous event that I found myself with those seats on a cloudy day to take that picture of Craig!
  15. Maybe the cop was singling him out for his small stature and unusual mechanics... But really Timmy, if you don't have the smarts to do what it takes in a state where marijuana is legal for all intents and purposes, you deserve the consequences.
  16. After visiting St. Louis earlier this month, this culture clash is a lot easier to understand. While the pre-game festivities are laden with the PA announcements and jock jams typical of other 21st century sports venues, once the first pitch is thrown, it's dead silent. The Cardinals fans will not be bothered with such modern inventions such as the organ, you can literally hear a pin drop when Pujols isn't at the plate or they're congratulating Molina hustling out a clutch GIDP. While I have personally witnessed a younger trend in younger, less experienced Brewers fans in the last few years, you could dump a container ship full of Chinese infants into Busch Stadium without the median age taking a major hit. You have to commend them for their steadfast-worthiness, but it'd be interesting to see what their fanbase would be like without years of winning and KMOX creating a captive audience. But seriously, different strokes for different folks. The "O and I would literally LOVE for someone to jack Braun in the face, the kid needs it." do little more than to reinforce the stereotype, though.
  17. Talk is cheap. If Cameron wants to put his some weight behind his words, negotiate a deal before the Brewers have to offer arbitration. Otherwise, it's hard to interpret this as anything but a plea to sway that first decision to be made, which in the Brewers court.
  18. If I remember correctly, Robin was skeptical about coming back after his 1989 MVP season, wanting to play for a winner, but after talks with Selig he decided to stay, netting a big fat paycheck. It's hard for me to consider these comments in the light of those actions, especially when you trash your former boss and the current commissioner at the same time. Anyone care to correct my recollections on this? Robin is one of my favorite of all time Brewers, so I'm hoping the "tipsy" theory holds true. I would have loved to have seen the Brewers retain Molitor, but in reality, they could have saved legions of fans with better PR.
