  1. Am I happy for them? No, absolutely not. Blame Matt Capps, Jeff Karstens, and Dave Kerwin.
  2. http://desmond.yfrog.com/Himg612/scaled.php?tn=0&server=612&filename=b2nb.png&xsize=640&ysize=640http://photo.yuku.com/image/png/3ad252f9af8e252d9c4c1e7bb356cb3ff501e30.pngJust got an error trying to join chat. I think this is the same error I was getting before when I was unable to enter the chat. Edit: hosted image elsewhere, apparently the Yuku image hosting is broken too.
  3. My sources have informed me that today's National Anthem at Yankee Stadium was sung by none other than Tom Wopat.
  4. After getting back from the Tuesday night game, I was watching the encore broadcast of the Tuesday game on the YES network. When talking about the Brewers dominance at home and their struggles at home, the announcers suggested that this usually happens when the home team is stealing signs.
  5. This is like the opposite of the game when Yost refused to pinch hit Kevin Mench when Geoff Jenkins was facing a left hander with the game on the line.
  6. Inexcusable. Why? The post-game presser should be a hoot.
  7. We will be going Tuesday and Wednesday. Guess I should get some tickets...
  8. RRR on Yuni: It's getting to the point where one of them has to go. I'm at the point where I don't care which one it is.
  9. C-. Antiquated, if not downright questionable bullpen usage patterns, aggressive baserunning that ends up being a net loss (-0.4 Bsr), and other moves that remain unexplained with the same shroud of media secrecy that Yost used to love. Honestly, I can live with his lineups as long as he improves his bullpen usage. Even though he was in the AL for so long, it's not rocket science to use your better relievers in higher leverage situations and your worse guys in blowouts. One thing that irks me that goes a bit unnoticed is the strikeouts. While I expect Fielder and Braun, and to a lesser extent Weeks, to have their whiffs, I'd expect some of the lighter hitting players, especially those with limited on base skills, to make more of an effort to put the ball in play. I did find it interesting that LaRussa conceded that he had been outmanaged in the recent series however. I do like the creativity he brings with the 5 man infield (didn't this used to be a favorite of Tom Trebelhorn?) and the squeezes, but he needs to be careful not to overuse these tactics. Edit: forgot the bit about the Ks.
  10. Yellow, mustard, or "sand" should never be used as a uniform color, as it looks horrible with most skin tones and white which is usually present. If it must be used, pants or the same color should be worn, but then you start looking like the 1970's Athletics or Pirates, or a certain local football team. Stick to dark blue or white for the home jersey, and gray, dark blue, or light blue for the road.
  11. RRR up to his old tricks. Hope LaRussa responds in kind with Yadi in CF and Pujols at SS?
  12. It's remarkable how rapidly he switches from insanity to canned cliches. Maybe he truly has multiple personalities.
  13. Is it too early to suggest that we get Aramis Ramirez at the trading deadline?
  14. Doesn't park factor have to come into play with BABIP? Aren't don't long fly balls that are HR at Miller Park turn into BIP that are likely to be outs in larger parks?
  15. Carlos Gomez, so talented he can kill a rally regardless of where he hits in the batting order!
  16. Gomez in the 2 hole for 8 LOB, and Loe over Hawkins for the 8th? A window into your mind, RRR.
  17. Excited that we get to have Ryan through at least 2020, and that he'll be a Brewer through the peak of his career. Have to say I'm concerned about what kind of player he'll be when he's 35 and there's two years left on the contract. Props to Mark A for getting this one done though. EDIT: Didn't see how much it was front-loaded. I'm interested if Braun or the club come ahead, taking into consideration the net present value of money vs. the deferred portion and interest that usually goes along with that.
  18. Royce Clayton without the glove and the snazzy haircut. Incidentally, Wikipedia says that Royce plays Miguel Tejada in the upcoming film Moneyball. Wonder if he's a better actor than a hitter. Yuni's BR comparables have some winners too: Neifi Perez, Jack Wilson, Angel Berroa. That being said, the one upside is that expectations are so low that anything resembling replacement level, or close to average performance will make him look golden.
  19. This tweet from Rany Jazayerli has stuck in my head the most: Is this trade and the way Gamel was handled simply a coincidence, is "sending a message" a factor of this trade, or is this just how DM rolls?
  20. At least we know the real reason Peterson was canned.
  21. Like many other posters, I'm in favor of a change that puts the Wild Card teams on a lesser footing without substantially expanding the overall length of the playoffs. A 3 game series with only one off day would be perfect. It'd the emphasis back on winning the division. Also, eliminate the stupid same division rule. Unfortunately the big obstacle in this is going to be the Union, which is not going to concede to less off days or doubleheaders without some resistance.
