  1. Ransom can come into the game and play short for Izturis, and Hart can stay in the game for Morgan (shifting Aoki to CF). I don't like Ransom hitting either, but I think I understand the logic. Now watch it come back from commercial with Gomez in CF and see my head explode.
  2. thank you dusty baker for forgetting that bronson arroyo is still bronson arroyo (and the brewers for finally remembering that). and for shifting against Aoki.
  3. Corey Hart: "Are you guys serious? Dude's been throwing these meatballs all game"
  4. 13 really really nice pitches from K-Rod. Keep using him, please.
  5. 6 "national" games tonight. What a joke. I usually only use it to watch the Brewers, but the fact that 40% of today's games will be blacked out on mlb.tv is ridiculous (I guess that's what it's like to live in Iowa). I cannot believe that rule hasn't been changed. FOX and MLB are the worst.
  6. 1. AT&T Park 2. Target Field 3. Petco Park 4. Coors Field 5. Miller Park 6. Turner Field 7. Chase Field 8. Fenway Park 9. Wrigley Field 10. US Cellular 11. Everything else I haven't been to yet Last. Metrodome
  7. Oh I know. Wisconsin has excellent beer....but in the past few years of developing into a beer snob I've learned that Colorado just has some amazing breweries. And I saw them all over Coors when I was out there (and the beer there is pretty cheap, relatively speaking). Like I said though, I only make it back to Miller Park once or twice a year, and I'm usually not spending it seeking out microbrews (I drink them in the parking lot instead). I do agree that I don't know why Milwaukee would be ranked so low. Fenway should be ranked last, they charge over $7 for a 12 oz beer. And I don't remember much of a selection.
  8. i wish all these homeruns could make me feel comfortable. but they don't. hold that lead yo.
  9. also, weeks batted ball profile this season is strikingly similar to his career numbers, outside of 1 or 2 more infield fly balls than normal. That hasn't been the case all season, and likely shows that he's making better contact (when he does, the K rate is still too high). That is backed up by his solid numbers over the past 3 weeks or so that rluz posted before. Hopefully some of his line drives start finding the gaps so he can get that slugging up.
  10. Coors Field has an incredible beer selection for a ballpark. Colorado might be the best place in the country for microbrews (and I love Wisconsin beers, but I haven't been to Miller Park enough since I moved away to know how prevalent they are though. Either way Colorado has better stuff), and Coors has a ton of concessions throughout the stadium to get microbrews/imports. They also have a brewery in right field. I would agree that I don't know what Miller Park did to be the third worst....but Coors is fantastic. The GF really really wants to move out to Colorado after school....I'm not very interested, but the breweries out there might convince me.
  11. it's incredibly tiresome. I don't think he's a particularly good manager, but I don't think managers really have THAT big of an impact on a game. It seems as if 95% of the time when something goes wrong Roenicke is blamed for it. I will agree that Thornburg should have been pulled after the Bautista homer.....but I don't think any managers would have pulled him after 75 pitches and 5 good innings. And if Roenicke HAD pulled him followed by Dillard (or whoever) blowing the lead....it's not very hard to imagine the criticisms that would have been written from the anti-Roenicke camp.
  12. He should have been pulled after 5 innings. Asking the kid to go from AA to MLB, facing one of the better offenses in the majors, and going through the lineup three times, was too much. But Roenicke would rather "save his bullpen", and make the kid labor through another inning. Result? Three home runs in a row, and now we're behind because our idiot manager couldn't outmanage Terry Schiavo. Your nuts and acting like a typical fan on many sports forums, way overreacting to everything. Thornburg was pitching fine through five and there was zero reason for RR to pull him before the inning started. None. Maybe he waited one batter to many, but that's it. Plus, our middle relief is garbage anyways. exactly. if thornburg got pulled after 5 innings, and dillard came in and gave up the lead everyone would have flipped out.
  13. he might have lost a few mph on it...but for the most part he just started throwing it right down the middle. can't do that against anyone, especially the blue jays though.
  14. who is this team and what have they done with the real brewers?
  15. I don't think your Carlos Ruiz example is very good: a) I don't believe fangraphs uses UZR for catchers. I am not sure how they come up with the "fielding" portion of their WAR value for catchers, but however they do it is lower than McCutchen's (2.2 vs 2.0) so that is not why he is rated higher. b) I think you're thinking of their positional adjustments, which I do agree can be a little bit extreme. Ruiz gets more credit for being a catcher, because there's less talent at that position than CF (or something along those lines) c) But the main reason Carlos Ruiz is rated so high is because he is absolutely mashing the ball. He has a line of .354/.416/.566. ALL of those numbers are better than McCutchen's. His wOBA (Fangraphs catch-all batting statistic which I believe is used to calculate WAR) is currently tied for 7th in the major leagues. He's had a fantastic season hitting the ball, thats the main reason his WAR is so high. All of that said, I would obviously rather have McCutchen on my team. But based on their performances so far this season, Ruiz has been a better player. His WAR reflects that.
  16. ESPN has it listed as Thornburg (no news story or anything, just on their MLB scoreboard), for what that's worth.
  17. good game from morgan...OBP is almost up to .300. Since April 19 his OBP is .357. wish we could have got that run across, make it not matter Ax.
  18. i would rather have both and not brooks conrad.
