  1. I know that this is pretty much cliche, but Cameron is a guy that you need to watch play every day in order to appreciate what he brings to the table. The reason he catches so much flak is that the casual fan/talk radio caller doesn't watch him every day and instead looks at the high K's, low AVG, etc. and thinks he's a bad player. It's the opposite of the Johnny Estrada thing - people who hadn't seen him play a lot thought he was a great pick-up because he was a good average and contact hitter. Then when they got the chance to see him play, they realized he was terrible. I liked the Cameron signing a lot when it happened, and I still do. He's a good player, and he's pretty much right at his career norms.
  2. Durham and Weeks in some kind of "go with who is hot" combo improves the team, without a doubt. Yeah, I also made this suggestion last week I think, and I think it's probably the best way to upgrade the position without having to give up too much.
  3. Really hope they didn't get Taschner... I agree. Though if it was just Darren Ford, at least they didn't give up anything of consequence. If that's what it is, it's amazing how short the leash is for Stetter.
  4. How about Jon Rauch? Guys like Ford and Salome are Bowden types.
  5. Well, it's probably just that "$2 million tweak" if all it took was Darren Ford.
  6. I am also watching and thought the first episode was great. I love seeing some of the old Wire actors again - especially James Ransone. Jim Norton was so great on Lucky Louie (though he always is) - that was the biggest reason it sucked that it got cancelled.
  7. That was just amazing... gotta think that he's going to be beat after sitting around and getting cooled off, though. I think Braun has a really good shot to win it.
  8. 1) What did Utley say under his breath? "Boo? (expletive deleted) you."
  9. Gotta love Utley's under the breath response to the booing.
  10. I like Yabu, sort of. I was kind of disappointed when Beane got rid of him a few years ago. I would rather he be thrown in on the Durham deal than Taschner.
  11. The team needs to treat the 8th inning like hotels treat the 13th floor: ignore their very existence.
  12. Not trying to absolve Lou of blame, but you're almost bound to rack up a lot of innings/appearances for your #1 set-up guy when you are winning 60% of your games. I guess what I am saying is that the modern mindset for bullpen management is more to blame than simply one manager being a moron. The same thing happened last year with the Brewers and Cordero, Turnbow, and to a lesser extent Shouse.
  13. Well, he just has had a brutal game. It happens. (and I love that it has happened) In general, though, he's pretty much just had a consolidation season. He has virtually the same BB and K rates this year as he had last year. He's a very good pitcher. He had a ridiculous/unsustainable HR rate last year, and this year it has normalized. I don't think he's hurt or anything like that. Just human.
  14. I believe Bowden when he says he didn't have a part in it. I don't think he's smart enough to pull it off, even once. And he has some really horrible taste in sweaters. If the other stuff is true, it's too bad that ex-players like Rijo would do this.
  15. I love the Yount one. The Burnitz would have been more accurate if he had thrown the bat, too. I swear I saw him do that five times in person.
  16. He has an OPS 100 points higher against LHP's. I wasn't saying a straight platoon, either. I guess it would be the dreaded "hot hand" situation - Durham is pretty much the same against either handedness. Also (and not that it's anything more than a weird anomaly) I noticed he hasn't hit a single HR at home this season - he actually has a higher OBP than SLG at MP this year.
  17. I think all unders, too. And I definitely second the depressing feeling. It sucks to look at his month by month totals and see that he has pretty much been bad all year. It'd be one thing if he just had a 5-50 or something that was keeping his numbers down, but that's really not the case. It's not a wise idea to stick with a guy with a .321 OBP as the leadoff hitter through a pennant race. I'm not saying they need to dump him, but supplementing him with someone like Durham and doing a time sharing situation might be the best route.
  18. I expected him to hit in the .230's and have around an .800 OPS against RHP's, which is better than Bill Hall is against them. The barrage he went on was awesome, though, and truly one of the favorite things in my life as a Brewers fan. I am sure the Brewers didn't expect him to hit .300, so I doubt they are concerned.
  19. Taschner gets mentioned all the time solely because he is from WI, I think. He's not even better than Stetter, and he's already 30. Durham, I could see. However, he is a terrible defender at this point, too. I think it's bogus, like most things on the blog comments over there.
  20. Good opportunity to give him a break. Maybe he's just got a dead arm period happening right now. But he was really lucky at the beginning of the season, too, and that has caught up to him.

  22. On first glance this morning, this trade looks way better, especially if Green stays out of it.
  23. Who is this mysterious Agent39? He's the agent for a few Brewers farmhands.
  24. Would it be in the realm os possibilty to pry Soria from the Royals, Sherrill from the Orioles, or Fuentes from the Rockies? Fuentes is going to be traded. I think that's a lock. Soria doesn't make sense for the Royals to move, this is only his second season and he is fantastic. I think Sherrill is coming back to earth and isn't as good as he was at the start of the season. Basically, if I'm the Brewers, Fuentes is probably target #1 (I think I said the same thing at this time last year, too, actually).
