  1. I'm no big fan, but I sure don't see him being lazy. I think he's just old.
  2. I went back and looked...the catcher was actually David Ross. He even went over to Prince afterward. It looked like he was apologizing and then had a few words for his pitcher. http://mlb.mlb.com/video/play.jsp?c_id=mlb&content_id=9999627&query=game_pk%3D265164
  3. One of the most obvious intentional plunkings in league history. Threw the first one at his head, then in the middle of the back. It's about time MLB stepped in. I guess the Braves fans didn't like Prince's attempted slid of rage into Gonzalez after that either. I thought the reaction of the catcher was the most interesting thing. Prince nodded at him after the first one. I thought the catcher may have said, "Hey don't sweat it we aren't throwing at you." Then he gets nailed in an obvious throw. The catcher put his arms out and looked at Venters in a "What the heck are you doing?" motion. Made me think he was out of the loop on the headhunting...must have come straight from Cox or he went solo.
  4. Tough to gauge defense between Braun & Edmonds. I would say that Edmonds takes a much better route to the ball than Braun, but his physical skills have deteriorated so his range isn't what it used to be. Braun is the opposite. He has great athleticism, but takes such a horrible route to the ball he often needs it to make a catch that Edmonds would be camped out under. I'm not so sure we want to burn Cain's service time on a lost season, although I would agree Gomez could use some quality time in Nashville. Cain has hit some balls hard, but the pitches were right down the middle. Let's reserve judgment when they start throwing him those low outside sliders. He's got great upside, but he was just in AA not that long ago. I don't see the need to rush things. Gomez is so undisciplined. I've seen the Brewers take batting practice a few times this year and Gomez doesn't even show any discipline in the cage. Every swing is off his heels. The guy needs to learn how to take advantage of his speed. He'd help his SLG more by turning singles into doubles than trying to launch every ball over the fence. It would be nice to get some value out of him before Cain takes his spot.
  5. Good wood Lo! That was good to see. Great story about working with Cam too...couldn't pick a better role model than Mike Cameron.
  6. I saw the National League beat the American League in an all-star game with the Brewers as part of the National League.
  7. There's a guy right behind home plate wearing a sausage & cheese necklace and Brewers shirt...awesome. Saw Mark A and his wife too. Boy do they hate the Yankees and Red Sox here...makes me like the Angels!
  8. Well there is at least one Brewers fan in the house!!! I'm watching Corey and his Rock Bat in the cage right now...Go National League!!!
  9. Baseball players have a long history of using their position to make a larger point. I think it's great that Yovani would stand up for something like this that he believes in. My guess is many other hispanic players are going to make this a big issue next year as well and as the pressure mounts a big group will boycott. It will be curious to see if other non-hispanic players join the cause as well. What if a Jeter or Braun came out and said they'd boycott too? Things could get very interesting. I do admit to being strongly biased against this law (a debate for another topic). That being said, regardless of the cause if it is truly something they believe in more power to them. The all-star game is a much larger podium to make a point than a meaningless regular season game between the D-Backs and Brewers. It is interesting to note though that by playing games in Arizona and drawing a paycheck, Yovani will have to pay taxes to Arizona this year.
  10. It should read "Pinatas" on the Pirates unis the way the Crew treats them. Viva los Cerveceros indeed!!! Mui bueno Brew Crew!!!
  11. Anyone see how Macha got in the middle of the celebration scrum out by Braun. He must be feeling the heat, he's starting to show some emotion. Love Braun's quotes after the game..."I've never lacked confidence, it's been my swing"...he just perfectly strides that thin line between cocky and confident. I hope he has an awesome All-Star game.
  12. Kawakami's contract could just just replace Davis or Bush next year. He's probably better or at least equivalent to them for not that much more. If we could get Minor & take on Kawakami, maybe they would add some lower level prospects as well. I'm really happy for Corey he's doing as well as he is this year. After watching those years with that long, bad swing it's tough to believe he's finally cured his ails. Then again, what would our offense look like without him this year? This is still the type of trade they should probably explore.
  13. If Cappy is only going to sop up one inning in a game like this, there really is no reason to keep him. At least Suppan could throw 3-4 meaningless innings.
  14. Bravo Brewers & Geoff. I remember the newspaper page he took out when he left thanking the fans. He didn't have to do that, but it was a nice touch from a classy guy. He was always great to the fans and really embraced Milwaukee. The guy was a very good player on some very bad teams. It's nice to actually have some fond memories from those darker Brewers days and Jenks supplied many of them. Thanks Geoff...now bring us a winner on Friday!
  15. Alcides? At some point you have to get smarter right? Man, rookies can be tough to watch sometimes.
  16. That's a big time Phew!!! Let's see, we've got Parra outpitching Carpenter, the Brewers flashing leather and the Cards making errors and the world's classiest human beings booing their home team. I must be dead and this must be heaven...good thing heaven has the MLB package and high speed Internet for bf.net!!!
  17. Two seeing eye singles and a bad play by the D...that kind of a year. Hang in there Narvdog!
  18. It would be more fun to watch the Cubs implode if the Crew was actually doing something this year. But hey, at least we're almost mediocre...take that Cubs fans!!!
  19. Hooray for the big fella...bet that felt good after those changeups.
  20. Yo seemed to struggle with his curve last night. It's one game so you never know, but I would agree they are leaning on him a little too much. I wouldn't mind seeing Yo get some extra rest here. They could slide Davis into the rotation before the all-star break and go 6 starters for one time through. With the break coming up it wouldn't cost Yo a start and would give him an extra day after the Cardinals start. If we are in the same position as last year and are mathematically eliminated I'd shut him down immediately...skip those last couple starts.
  21. The way these first innings are going for our starters, we should have them throw BP before their start...maybe it would wake up our bats too.
  22. Finding new ways to lose every night...uggh, another waste of a Yo outing.
  23. For all the grief our bad pitching gets, further proof this horrendous defense hasn't helped things. Just pathetic fielding. Parra really deserved better. Interesting interview with Macha after the game...I guess he's finally hit the pressure point. Wouldn't you know he finally gets tossed when the umps actually got it right. That kind of year.
