  1. Forgot about that one...that was my first trip to Miller Park.
  2. Back from the game...not much to get excited about today. Team SoCal (and our epic fail) got to see first hand what the folks have been enduring at Miller Park all summer...a subpar start, bad fielding and a lack of plate discipline. Oh well, such is the 2010 Brewers...we still love 'em, warts and all. I figured it would be rough...Pineiro seems to own the Crew. Still a good series win and it's always great to take in a ballgame. Nice trip down the old American League memory lane going down to Anaheim. Always a family friendly place to see a game. Plenty of kids there today with the earlier start. A couple fans were giving Casey a hard time. One guy yelled "way to injure a guy half your size McGehee" when he was in the on deck circle. Casey turned right around and glared into the stands at the guy and shook his head. Of course a few other guys started really going after him since they got a rise out of him. Casey seemed genuinely bothered by the abuse and I'm sure about what happened to Aybar. The Angels TV guys really threw gas on the fire of this whole thing which probably incited a few in the crowd. They have been way over the top the last couple nights. I guess it's similar to an opposing fan listening to Rock get all riled up when someone goes after a Brewer whether they were at fault or not. That's it for this year's SoCal tour, sorry we couldn't get a sweep for ya'...hang in there Brewers fans!
  3. Best quote so far, "but Dad, what do you mean Ryan isn't a good fielder?"
  4. My good luck charm ( my daughter) and I are 5 rows behind Brewers on deck circle. She's got the Braun t-shirt...I've got the road Yount jersey and ball and glove roa hat. It's hot out here. Go Brewers!
  5. For all the bashing done on the Brewers starting pitching, those UZR's really lay a chunk of blame on our awful defense. There's not a legit plus defender on the team...although I'd argue Gomez is fairly solid and Escobar is will be. The combination of older pitch to contact guys and one of the league's worst defenses is a bad combo.
  6. I think these guys like it out here! Let's get those brooms out tomorrow!
  7. Who are these guys posing as the Brewers starting pitchers? Back to back quality starts for the Brewers...rarer than Catchers Interference!!!
  8. Anyone know if catcher's interference counts against a hitter's batting avg? Was curious since it's an error on the catcher.
  9. Wow...this is a beatdown and not in the direction I thought it would be. They are really lighting up Santana.
  10. I'm stuck with Angels broadcast out here. Their announcers have been throwing gas on the fire regarding Casey...they all felt it was too late and unnecessary. Am I the only person in LA that turned down Lakers tickets to stay home and watch the Brewers?
  11. Hey hawing...I think we may be the luckiest Brewers fans on the planet...3 games this year and they've scored 11 or more in each! Can't make Tuesday, but it sure would be nice to get another one when we go back on Wednesday. It was great to be back at the Big A...it had been years. When the Brewers used to play there it was still enclosed for football, but when they opened up the outfield stands it really changed the stadium for the better. Quite a few Brewers fans at the game last night, although not as many as at the Dodgers games...maybe the team is losing a little mo. By the end of the game there were about 20-30 of us that made it down by the dugout. We were cheering the boys on pretty hard. We had a nice "Corey, Corey" chant going while he was getting interviewed. They were really laying into Casey on the Angels postgame show. Their big gripe was there was no way they could get the DP so the hard slide wasn't necessary. It happened pretty quick so I couldn't really tell at the game. By then the Angels fans were heading for the exits they weren't on the Brewers too much. They tend to be a fairly tame bunch anyways. http://images.yuku.com/image/jpeg/47a152afa2b843c6c95880346e6f3dcea599d39.jpg
  12. Hey brewcrew...right on the Brewers dugout near homeplate...wearing the home white ball and glove...#46 Augie...near a bunch of nice guys from Muskego!!! Go Brewers!!!
  13. I'm on my way to Anaheim tonight. I haven't been down there since Game 6 of the World Series in '02...now that was a memorable game. I'm there with a fellow cheesehead buddy tonight and taking my undefeated daughter on Wednesday (she's 3-0 attending Brewers games...poor kid, she has no idea). I used to get down there each year before the switch to the NL. I got an e-mail that the UW Alums of OC will be tailgating under the "Big A" tonight starting at 5PM. We plan on dropping by. I'll be the guy in the Jerry Augustine jersey with a beer in my hand!
  14. He's not good enough to play for the team with one of the worst pitching staffs in baseball, but look who's getting the start on Tuesday for the Cards... Soup to Start
  15. I was at the Henderson stolen base record game and when Canseco got his 40th SB to be the first 40/40 guy. Seem to be more A's feats than Brewers. '87 was amazing...was at games 10 & 11 of the Opening Streak (I couldn't blow off Mom's big Easter brunch for game 12 could I?) and probably caught 4 of Molitor's hit streak games. Saw Molitor steal three bases in one inning, that was cool. Was also at the game where Reggie Jackson jumped Mike Caldwell and Caldwell grabbed his bat and broke it.
  16. Oy...very lucky on that Weeks play...more poor D from the Crew, just got away with it.
  17. This season is bad enough without you guys badmouthing my man Augie!!! I love that guy!!!
  18. 15 minutes to the first pitch and we've got 4 posts... While I'm looking forward to watching some baseball, I can't get my usual hatred going for the vile vermin of Wrigleyville. I'm sure once somebody posts about having their kids insulted by some drunken frat boy in Cubs gear that will change. Until then...when are the Brewers going to DFA Suppan and get back to the pennant drive?!?
  19. When I think of complete rebuild I think of the Pirates last year. Realizing the ceiling for the team in mid-70s wins if everything goes right, so dump everyone for younger talent and start over. Makes sense. I don't see that for the Crew. Trading Prince or Hart could make sense, but only if we have other options and the price is right. If that means taking a 1/2 year step back while some high talent AA/AAA pitchers develop, that could make some sense if it still gives us multiple shots while Braun/Gallardo are under contract.
  20. The payroll will likely be down as well. I can't see attendance covering an $85MM payroll next year. They will likely run a deficit this year and need to cut back. That still leaves room with a big chunk of the payroll coming off. It's more important they spend it wisely than just spend it. Now that the Suppan angst is over, I would give Melvin credit for primarily going with one year deals on most of the vets. While Hall & Suppan were long term stinkers and who knows about Wolf, the Gagne type signings have only burnt them for a year.
  21. Typical Brewers pitcher, always nibbling at the leather and never going all out
  22. I have a serious mancrush on the 'stache Stay classy folks...thanks for prayin'
