  1. What I'm worried about right now is Elliot Wolf leaving the Packers to be GM of another team. I have always believed he was being groomed to take over for Ted. I don't want the Packers to feel forced, that they need to make a decision, but I have to think TT is done soon. I'd hate to see Wolf leave a year or two before he TT steps down. Edit: I just did a quick search on Wolf to see if anything new had come out, and it appears he signed a new contract. That's great to hear and I hope keeps him in GB until he gets a shot at GM.
  2. Cool. Thanks guys!
  3. Twitter is my favorite of the social media platforms by far. Mainly for the same reasons you mentioned. It's my news and sports source. Up to the minute information coming to you. As soon as a reporter starts to bother me, I just unfollow. I also don't follow many athletes because they usually get annoying pretty quickly. I like to keep who I'm following pretty fresh, so I try to go out and get rid of accounts I don't enjoy seeing that much. I follow friends on there too, but they seem to do a lot less posting, and when they do, it's rarely a "look at me" moment. It's usually quick and funny. I appreciate that about twitter. Facebook is pretty much dead to me. I do enjoy instagram, but mainly for my own pictures. I enjoy taking pictures, and it's a place for me to post them and keep my favorites. Mainly it's my close friends that follow me on there and I like that.
  4. When are the Bucks in danger of losing Giannis or Parker?
  5. No evidence for Bagwell, but just look at him. I think I remember some rumblings about Pudge a few years ago. It's not surprising though that the voters pick and chose who they are outraged about when it comes to PED's. Canseco said in his book he injected Pudge with PEDs. And there was the time he came to spring training 15-20lbs lighter - a time that coincided with tougher PED testing. All speculation and rumors, however. He never tested for anything. I remember when he lost all that weight coming in to spring that year. Hilarious. Said he wanted to slim down so he was more mobile and easier on his body. I don't know if it was that year, but I'm wondering if that's when his numbers also started to fall off significantly. It might have been the year before that. I've heard more rumblings of Pudge taking steroids than Bagwell but that doesn't mean anything. I'm on the record that these guys should all get in, they were the best in their time period. Especially the guys that were taking stuff when it wasn't against the rules. Where I struggle is what do you do with guys like Braun or ARod? They cheated and got caught when it was against the rules. We'll never know how long they cheated, so it's hard to say they would have been just as good without it.
  6. I don't see any downside to this move. I hope he has a good season!
  7. Aren't Bagwell and Pudge widely known as steroid users? I could be wrong. I'm just wondering why they got in without much of a fuss.
  8. Wanted to do something fun for the Packer game this weekend. Didn't search the whole thread but has anyone done anything with chicken wings? I usually just grill them and then add the sauces after but I was wondering if I should smoke them first, then grill..... Sounds tasty.
  9. Yea i'm excited to see how the lineup and defense ends up performing. Both have the chance at least to be better than many expect. It's the pitching though where things could be pretty ugly, especially the rotation. The bullpen is much harder to guess on because from year to year some guys do better or worse than you'd expect for many teams who lack proven arms in the pen. I think this is the way I feel right now. Excited to see how our defense and bats play out. I'm sure there will be ups and downs, but I'm hoping to see promise is some of the young players. On the other hand, I'm really worried about our rotation. I just don't see them being very good.
  10. I don't think it's a Capers problem at this point. I think he's making as many adjustments as possible. The problem, especially with a team like DAL, is they can run and pass. You bring in the extra DB to cover and they will run. You bring in the extra linebacker and they pass. It's about conceding certain plays and hoping to minimize the damage. He's working with B and C type players because of injury and having to defend the best teams in the league right now. I think he's doing a pretty good job.
  11. Man was I shaking after that game! Just so intense. Honestly, we really shouldn't have been able to win that game. Our defense is so bad and so depleted. We didn't have our best offensive weapon, outside of Rodgers. But Rodgers is just playing so well right now, it's unreal. It would be such a huge help to get a few DBs back this week, a long with Jordy. Not sure what the likelihood is, but it could be a huge boost.
  12. My daughter is into bluegrass a lot and got me to try it. Some i think is flat out horrible, but one band she really likes and i think is pretty good is The Devil Makes Three. We are going to see them in Madison on the 19th. Check them out if you want. Thanks for sharing! I'll have to check out Steeldrivers as well. I've always really enjoyed Blue Grass. I actually would say there isn't too much music out there that I won't give a try. I really love Trampled By Turtles, the band from Duluth. I have several of their albums and love their style. I also have really gotten in to Jerry Garcia's side music that he had done. He did a blue grass album called "Old and In The Way," that is awesome. He also has several albums with David Grisman that are really cool. They are really folky/bluegrassy and I listen to them all the time. If you have young kids, I highly suggest the album "Not For Kids Only." My three year old son loves it!
  13. Those people are attention junkies and story toppers. They love knowing about random stuff so they can be the "expert" on something. I tend to think they are doing that to cover up for something else that is lacking in their life. I try not to engage with those people or give them the responses they want to hear. Usually keeps them from talking so much.
  14. Yes Canada Goose has been all over the East Coast for a couple years now. When we lived out there a few years ago, everyone had one. I have been noticing them more in places where I didn't think I'd see them, so the trend is spreading. LouisEly - That's hilarious. Guaranteed it was so people would see them wearing the coat. Bet they were sweating their you know what off, but it was worth it because they looked cool.
  15. Brewcrewdue - I don't think many of those pass plays are meant to be so long developing, that's just Rodgers holding the ball. I agree there haven't been as many quick hitting plays maybe, but I don't think he's calling plays that take half a minute to develop. I also think NY had some pretty good coverage on our guys, that's why there were a lot of messy plays. I do think we need Michael when we need to pound the ball. I hated that we had Ty on on the 4th and 1. He's really not that type of runner. I don't trust Michael yet, but he will be the key for us holding leads in the playoffs I think (if we are fortunate enough to have them).
  16. Thanks again for all the great info! I really appreciate it. I know one specific area was mentioned in a post but if anyone else has favorite areas with in one of the cities, fire away.
  17. Merry Christmas to everyone as well and a happy New Year! I'm a little late but since I still have one more family Christmas to celebrate, I still consider it Christmas. Hope everyone is doing well.
  18. I don't get to watch Bucks games because I"m not in state and don't have League Pass. I'm just curious what the general take is on the team so far to this point. I'm also curious what the take is on Parker.
  19. Mayday Milone! Close enough, right?
  20. Totally agree on not knowing what our kids will be doing in the future. Much more interested in a good school where they can grow as students. I guess I've just kind of had the thought that the high schools reflect the schools that feed in to it and can give you an understanding of what they are like. I also have maybe looked at that as a bigger picture of the families/adults that live in the district. The only other reason I like to know this now is that, if for some reason we'd have to sell the house, potential buyers could consider high school districts. Thanks again everyone, I really appreciate the great info. Hard to get this type of information without talking to people that are familiar with an area.
  21. Just curious what "inner city" issues are. I'm guessing that they aren't inner city issues like you'd have in Milwaukee? How does Appleton North compare to Neenah? I knew Kimberly was a pretty successful at sports but had no idea it was that hardcore. That's really good to know. I also was very surprised that Hortonville was now a D1 school. I had no idea it was that big of a district.
  22. Well it's obvious, they got him because he looks like Lucroy, and therefore will be a stud. Seriously though, I think this makes complete sense. No reason to keep Maldonado around if you can get someone younger that lines up with their hopeful timeline for being competitive.
  23. FVBrewerFan - I'd love to hear the stereotypes if you have the time. I know they should be taken with a grain of salt! If nothing else, I'm sure it would be entertaining. Is Hortonville/Greenville the same school district? How big of a school is that? Like do you know what division they are for sports or how many kids typically graduate? LouisEly- thanks for the tip!
  24. I did think of the Timber Rattlers right away as a big plus! Seems like the general talk was that Appleton, Neenah and Kimberly were all good. Are any of the Appleton schools considered better/worse? Or are there kind of general stereotypes of those 5 schools? Obviously the best way to get a feel for the schools would be to visit them. I have been looking a little at the housing available in the area, just to get a feel for it. Thanks so much for the info!
  25. I debated posting a topic on here about this, but I thought it would be a good place to find a few experts on the topic. My wife and I are starting to think more about a potential move back to WI. We've moved around quite a bit with her job over the last several years, but with our oldest child in preschool now, we are seeing the value of being in one place. We grew up on the west side of the state and don't have much experience with the Fox Valley. I did live in GB for a year but it was not a time where I was thinking about raising a family. We would not be able to live in GB anyway, so my experience there doesn't bring much to the table. We'd be looking more at Appleton and the surrounding towns. This is very much in the information grabbing stage of our decision making progress. Ultimately we are trying to narrow down a few options, compare, and then make the decision. I'd love to hear any positives and negatives that people have had or see with that area. Any information on housing, schools, raising families, etc would be greatly appreciated. Again, I'm just trying to gather as much information as possible at this point so I can get a better feel for the area. Thanks in advance!
